Worst movie I've seen in a long time! It's really bad!
143  Other / Off-topic / Re: Flat Earth on: May 02, 2015, 09:31:35 PM
How as an individual can I know if the Earth is a sphere or a flat disc? What experiment can I do that doesn't involve trusting information from a 3rd party that would prove what the geometry really is?

You can repeat Eratosthenes calculations:

Buy bitcoin and hold it!

Don't invest in "investment websites", don't invest in altcoins, don't invest in IPOs or ICOs, and don't invest in mining or cloud mining.

Check projects involving cryptocurrency and BOINC, I know there are at least a couple coins BOINC based, don't know if people can purchase processing power.
147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the largest Bitcoin purchase so far? on: May 02, 2015, 06:45:56 PM
Oh yeah, and Satoshi Dice was sold for 126,000 BTC, the equivalent of about $10 mil at the time.

A purchase indeed, but not a tangible object in the same way.

Forgot that one, yap, that might be the biggest one.

What kind of traffic do you send?
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the largest Bitcoin purchase so far? on: May 02, 2015, 06:31:37 PM
I just realized that I have no idea what the largest Bitcoin purchase (in terms of fiat money) is.

I found this article here, but 500k USD is not really much - is that really the biggest Bitcoin purchase?

That might actually be the biggest purchase made with bitcoin, one has to discard all IPOs and ICOs or whatever, that didn't actually purchase anything real.
150  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a good cloud ming site on: April 03, 2015, 09:16:31 PM
Just stay away from 'cloud mining' websites, also stay away from securities, mining securities or otherwise, they all become scams eventually.

The guy was so lame it hurts, there's all kinds of anonymous ways of doing that and he used Bitstamp for selling the coins?!

He was asking for getting caught!
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is this possible on: March 27, 2015, 10:21:33 PM
How do you store your backups?

Could access to your backups + passphrase have been how your coins got stolen?
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sheep Market owner arrested! on: March 27, 2015, 10:17:26 PM
He could have made the same amount of money if he just kept running the site honestly for the next 20 years. I guess fast money is too tempting, and he thought he could get away with it.

20 years? It's quite likely that the site would have been actually hacked or its owner would slip up and get caught by the feds during that time. 20 years is a long time when it comes to Bitcoin and computer security.

Also, it would have been easy to launder the stolen bitcoins if he had done it properly. He could have sent a portion of his stash through a mixer such as Bitmixer.io every couple of months and cashed out little bits at a time using LocalBitcoins. If the police becomes suspicious, he could have simply said that he was an early adopter which would be very difficult to disprove.

Yap, the longer he ran the site the more probable it would have been for him to get caught by authorities.

156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins and the zombie apocalypse on: March 27, 2015, 10:08:19 PM

157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: i doned it i buried my private keys in concrete underground no one will know on: March 23, 2015, 10:23:41 PM
You buried dogecoin?!

Doge is nice but I don't see it being way more valuable than current price.
158  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: list of faucet sites? on: March 22, 2015, 05:25:33 PM

most of those faucets are bad and only few are still standing that payout.

I saw the only good standing one thats worth the time would be freebitco.in since they always seem to payout on time.

They been around prob the longest out of all those mentioned on the list.

Yes, it's better start reading from the end. Smiley
