One does regret HF's decision to fight Chapter 7 and its single minded determination to screw its creditors.  It takes a special kind of asshole to deliberately burn down the remnants of the company for no apparently greater reason than to make sure that the people who paid for your products get nothing back.

I do not regret, for a moment, petitioning to put them into bankruptcy, and I hope the bankruptcy hangs around Eduardo and Simon's necks (careers) forever.

I do like the idea of compiling and keeping current the list of real names and offenses.  Davide, you were always a little skittish about that.  But remember, you're not defaming or libeling anybody if what you say is true.

Yes.  As stated in my previous post, my miner (SP fork fork of ccminer - http://github.com/sp-hash/ccminer) is displaying higher hash rate than what's reported by the pool.  I'm getting 620-625 kh/s per the pool.  On my EVGAs the gain from overclocking is quite small.

I used the unofficial binary from a different fork available here:

Running just fine for me, but now I'm wondering if it's an illusion.  Still getting 720-725 according to ccminer (except the one stubborn card that's lower), but simplemulti reports me at just over 3 m/hash which, divided by five, is more like 620 k/hash.  Hmmm...

These are the EVGA OC SC cards, on default core speed but increased memory.  It's been a while since I tweaked those settings... it's been in zombie mode mining X11 for months, waiting for something better to come along (like the forked Vertcoin).

PS:  Further overclocking the cores to +40 and the memory to +475 jumps them - according to ccminer - into the realm of 725-735.  I haven't pulled out the kill-o-watt, but I highly doubt the power involved in the overclocking is worth the modest additional hashrate.

Ditched X11 with my working GPU rig and now have it mining VTC.

I've got a half dozen more 750ti's that have been gathering dust for months... I might rebuild that rig in the coming days, especially if the news is as good as has been reported when I whip out the kill-o-watt meter tomorrow.

Vertcoin always had the best community and ambition.  The last few months have been trying, but with the hard fork to Lyra2RE, we can start getting excited again.

I'll post power numbers here tomorrow.  AM3+ ASRock boards, Sempron procs, one rig with EVGA cards (running), and another with PNY cards.

The EVGA 750ti's are hashing at 720-725 kh/s each, except one that's stuck at 710-715.

C'mon folks, I gotta know.  How much did claims against Simon Barber go for, and who bought them?

Legal paperwork I got in the mail, slightly glanced at, and then thrown in the recycling indicated around $700,000 in attorney's fees, roughly equal from both sides, although the envelope from the HF lawyer was so thick that it barely fit in a conventional American mailbox.  I'd guess 400 pages.  If the paper had been slightly more absorbent, I might have saved it to place beside the toilet.  But, unfortunately, it wasn't even good for that.

I just hope that whoever buys the asset will be transparent and let us all break out the popcorn and enjoy watching the process of trying to extract cash from the bastard.

What are Eddie, Scrotum, and Long Dong up to these days?

You few who repeatedly complain about the initial bankruptcy filing, claiming it was the wrong thing to do, well, your complaint is based on a false premise.  That premise being that the company was prepared and capable of fixing itself while meeting its outstanding obligations to customers.  However this bankruptcy ends up, and it isn't going well for anybody (since HF spent money like Pablo Escobar), I think it is absolutely clear that the company was not going to do right to its customers, and those customers (including me) were quite reasonably acting within their rights to try to go in and fix it / or salvage.  Turned out to be salvage since, as already mentioned, the irresponsible management had already blown through all the money without  meeting obligations.

Don't be ridiculous.  His company is at a crucial stage of bankruptcy proceedings.  If he had a whit of interest in doing right for the creditors, he'd be physically available in the Bay Area to meet and help take the company's decisions.  Maybe he could go to Pacifica, but not the Algarve.  Better yet, he would be eager to do something to prove he was worth a damn at anything other than a narrow set of technicals,* which apparently he is not.

I had a German business partner for a while.  We were not doing well, money was tight.  He announced his vacation plan.  I suggested that if he was going to take all that time off, at least some of it should be unpaid given the circumstances.  He thought that I was proposing an injustice on the order of genocide.  A massive human rights violation, not getting his full complement of paid vacation.  

Feels better in here.  I have a lot of paperwork to catch up with, though.  

The testimony I've read so far makes me pretty sad.  Such poor financial decisionmaking.  Again. And again. And again.   Yet Eddie is articulate and thoughtful.  What a contradiction.

The picture so far is that as soon as money came in, out it went again, with effectively no consideration of the value received by HF for that money from its suppliers, contractors, etc.  As if Eddie and Simon believed the money was going to just keep coming to Hashfast forever, so there was no need be judicious in their expenditures.

But maybe that's not the whole truth.

I want to know more about Eddie's disappearance.  I understand that he had a harrowing experience with the fire, but I haven't seen any real explanation for his apparent personal financial meltdown (did he keep his money in a burned up cookie jar?) and his absence in the period during which he blames bad decisions on Simon.  Did he have some sort of mental breakdown?  Why was he gone?  If he had genuine medical issues, that's fine, I wouldn't begrudge him that.  An explanation would seem in order, though.
 

Didn't I hear something mentioned about a moderated thread?  I've seen the IceTroll movie before and don't want it getting in the way again.

I've followed this in great detail since the beginning, but during the last few weeks of the bankruptcy I've been really busy with other things and I've lost track of some of the threads.

Can I verify a few things that seem to be the case but I'm not quite sure about...

1) It is clear now that Eddie is Venezuelan or, at least, originally Venezuelan.
2) One of Eddie's buddies is named Guido Ochoa.
3) This Guido Ochoa is a Venezuelan Socialist politician with links to the military.
4) This same Guido Ochoa has recently purchased some of Hashfast's assets.
5) This Guido and Eddie have some proposal together - the details of which I'm fuzzy on - to pull HF out of bankruptcy.
6) If the answer to 5 is yes, where can I find a concise description of this proposal?

If the average tenure of employment of a new accountant at Hashfast is two weeks, it sounds to me like these guys take a look at the books and say "Get me out of here!"

But, man that's a long exchange between Igor and Monica.  Both of them make me want to cringe.  Igor for being such a pedant (although I'm on his side!), and Monica for being a condescending jerk.

And who was it, one of the women, who said (earlier), "He's from Europe, he has a different east."  It didn't sound like a joke.

Please tell me it was their lawyer, and not ours, who thinks that the cardinal directions vary from continent to continent!

At the very end... if it's "under $20 for the [new] substrate and assembly", and the new substrate is "less than half" the cost of the current one (quoting Simon), do I understand correctly, then, that the original assembled boards (without the chips) probably cost Hashfast something like $45-50 each?  They had chips on hand.  So chip + $50 = working board? And they had component supplies on hand?  Why the hell couldn't they ship more systems?  If this was the case, they could have furloughed everybody for a week, taken the salary saved, and had the money to build and ship quite a few machines.  What am I missing?
