1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Russian Revolution coming soon... on: October 07, 2014, 11:21:06 AM
lol such things make me laugh really:D just how do they think to monitor this stuff?I don't say automatically russian govt is so very stupid as to think its easy to "switch off" bitcoin knowledge, but really even its plan to switch off internet access in "time of crisis" couldnt stop bitcoin. just the volumes from russia on this forum suggest it's already engrained enough not to be forgotten..
2  Other / Meta / Re: China blocks Bitcointalk - what will the results be on the alternate section? on: September 22, 2014, 01:09:43 PM
What's with this reddit guy saying he can access in shanghai free trade zone? he says other things he still can't access, but btctalk is ok! strange, or maybe my knowledge on how china ban works is not so good...

QCN is dying ,compared with XDN and XMR.  Sad Sad

I wouldn't base health of QCN on either of those two... they have so many problems right now, and all the weird posting is just wasting time. at least here we have sensible community i think - all in good time Wink
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We neet bitcoin ATMs on: September 17, 2014, 01:22:29 PM
we sure do need more, not least cuz fees to use them right now are sometimes pretty steep, so competition definitely required! I would think twice as customer if i saw commission for using ATM was 7% for example!
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How we crypto-geeks get it wrong & the reality of altcoin success. on: September 09, 2014, 01:53:14 PM
Saw this post by <gustav> in another thread discussing new coins with new features, and agree with it completely.

"features are secondary as long as they are not gamechangers and mayor (happens maybe once a year maximum). Money doesn't need 'features' - money needs 'security', reliability, solidity, stability and userbase/ acceptance"

agreed, though i would moderate with a comment i read here http://cointelegraph.com/news/112425/new-cryptocoin-to-sponsor-serie-a-football-team by "Alexandre" - "How many telephone numbers in the yellow pages? How many websites? How many business cards? The right question is : which one serves the right purpose?" - nice!!

looks good coming from a sr. memeber and not an anonymous newbie

yep i second this! [no offence to anonymous newbies who are humans!]
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MCN] MonetaVerde CryptoNote based. Merged mining with BCN/FCN/QCN/XMR on: September 05, 2014, 11:07:15 AM
Currently MCN is in its very early stages and its rare for such a project to get so much attention so quickly. Given this fact the currency is volatile and the swings can be quick a deep, that being said there is a lot of serious money invested in XMR so you know your not going to buy a shitcoin that goes down to 1% of your investment.

sure do agree with that, and i'm excited people here are willing to create the infrastructure to move things on, my expertise are limited but i say good luck! once there are more tools it'll be an easier task to get some excitement happening at least!
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2015 and WHY on: September 05, 2014, 08:05:21 AM
Monero is my favourite, I'm buying a little XMR every month and I'm sure it will rise in the next weeks.

I like the softly-softly approach with that, is good and you know XMR's not had any crazy swings or something recently unlike many, even stuff like doge which is all over place.. Cool having said this, with all this sudden interest from cheapair and btctrip in doge and litecoin i wonder if it's not too late to get back in there!! Cheesy who knows who knows!
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are house cats useful? on: September 03, 2014, 12:55:34 PM
cna't believe this is still going strong Grin I have a question! I saw some tv show about hairless dogs, which are cool because people aren't allergic to them, but not cool because hairless gene also means they have not so many teeth! so i'm allergic to cats, but like cats, so if i get a hairless cat, will there be other stuff missing too? it's still gotta function like a cat, cuz if it can't do that then it's not useful..
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [FCN] Fantomcoin. CN based, anonymous. Merge mine with BCN, XMR, QCN, duck. on: September 03, 2014, 12:13:55 PM
So since FCN is now delisted from poloniex it's time to explore new exchanges. Seems like everybody forgot about this voting https://comkort.com/vote#FCN

I think it's more about poloniex than the coin, eg quazarcoin was also delisted but then hitbtc added it now.. so I think it's a question of giving cnote coins publicity in right places which are reliable, that'll help reputation now. not sure if FCN is on the hitbtc voting but could be worth a go! Its just a shame to see technologically strong coins suffer from silly circumstances...  Undecided

Tha's what i still don't understand. Coin is well mantained, has a formed community, and suddenly gets delisted from major exchange.
I'm just thinking about Poloniex's following moves. Are they going to replace delisted coins?

Sure they will... Look what's going on! New coins are mushrooming all over!

I think the mushrooming has to be backed up by some tech, obviously cnote is not the only way forward but you gotta have some coins that can prove their foundation before poloniex will feel sheepish and do u-turn......or realise it's missing out on making a name for itself, if it's got staying power as an exchange (thats gotta be something to think about too...)

"Technologically strong" is the key word here. And i absolutely agree.

To be honest as long as its even got support of devs and one decent exchange, that is half the battle to making it desirable...if anything FCN community is lucky right now, when you look around at various other alts!
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10 Reason Why Bitcoin is better than Paypal on: September 02, 2014, 08:26:57 AM
Now, what if you are in a third world country with your family having some vacay. You need money. Ow! They dont accept BTC? What should you do? Well I got a paypal account. Withdraw money from paypal and then poof! You are drinking beer again.

with bitcoin debit cards there's no need to worry about if they take btc direct, and fees are no worse than paypal's foreign exchange rates I'd say Grin Also this style of bitcoin evangelism is something i kinda enjoy, my favorite one at the end of this http://cointelegraph.com/news/112375/10-reasons-why-bitcoin-is-better-than-paypal Bitcoin will never spam me about food platters ahah!

would like to have one for posterity, I wish such these bricks were so cheap in 2014!  Grin

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptonote Technology Coins - General Discussion Thread on: September 01, 2014, 12:19:51 PM
yes, brilliant! it would be great to have somewhere where general improvements and innovations etc are discussed and are easily visible, will save me a lot of effort! many thanks.... Grin
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [QCN] QuazarCoin | Full anonymity | Privacy&Data protection | Egalitarian PoW on: September 01, 2014, 10:28:40 AM
bittrex closed for qcn and i think poloniex also soon
what about itbtc?

Such craziness... i following these cnote coins a lot lately and it's a big shame that not only are some community members behaving eratically, but also even exchanges - I wonder how this can really end well, but it seems at least hitbtc's willing to give it a go. it says QCN is "coming soon" so i assume it'll definitely appear, i haven't heard of hitbtc ever dropping a coin either so let's hope this is some effective endorsement of qcn, and that other cnote coins benefit as a result, in some small way;)
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should Ecuador be legally allowed to create their own digital currency? on: September 01, 2014, 10:18:24 AM
I think there is not conflict of interests here, just some government experiment, and a low level one at that.......because really, if i am in charge of country with a "borrowed" currency, i would like to have control over stuff like money supply etc too, like most countries have. I guess thats why it will be limitless too, though that in itself is kinda dumb i think personally.. can generate how much they like and where have we heard that one before! Undecided

strange behaviour of exchanges, really! you would think poloniex is keeping an eye on where coins are being listed...if i saw hitbtc doing promo to list FCN then i sure wouldn't cut myself out of the game by delisting!
That's weird, you're right. Anyhow, Fantomcoin is getting another market and will be allright.
Let's see what happens next.

I hoping what happens next is important! theres so much talk of altcoins going away for good that someone must inject some kinda momentum somewhere, and why not into cryptonote which has such great foundations! with doge-litecoin merge only happening now for example, cnote coins have been at it for ages as standard!
But also of course it seems moneta verde has gone quiet, and ducknote has slowed too... Huh

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forget brainwallet - could you memorize an entire private key? on: August 28, 2014, 12:47:49 PM
Quote
If created properly, brain wallets are much better then trying to memorize your private key. If you are memorizing your private key then you must leave your key in some exposed format while you are trying to memorize it. In order for you to see it while memorizing the key it will need to somehow be out in the open. There is also a good chance that you would forget it after some amount of time after not using it. How many times have you forgotten a password that you used to a certain site and had to reset it? Probably a lot.

yes, and to my mind memorizing would be the easy part... typing it out without mistake would really cause an issue and finding the error and not doubting yourself! aha definitely never worthwhile practice!
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blowing the lid off the CryptoNote/Bytecoin scam (with the exception of Monero) on: August 15, 2014, 04:54:53 PM
Thank you for your time and effort.

Large scandals always stack around a prominent technology. However, before you start blaming Bytecoin, CryptoNote, or any other party for all the things you do not like in this world, I suggest you also read this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspiracy_theory

It explains perfectly why it is so tempting to believe in villains being responsible for all humanity's problems. Be critical, think yourself. To my taste, your claim is way out of all propotions...

Not really. He provided pretty strong evidence that the CN people and the BCN people are connected. Even after the CN people explicitly denied it.

They never denied it: http://bitcoinbarbie.com/cryptonote-open-source-technology-concept/

As we’ve mentioned before, CryptoNote team was not interested in building a currency. That is when Bytecoin developers took the lead. They are the team of top notch p2p and cryptocurrency developers, which have been contributing to the sphere for quite some time. They finalized our cryptographic and currency prototypes and coded a beautiful solution to represent CryptoNote.

So PDF v.1 that is on the website could have been created after PDF v.2. Considering that the timespan between the two papers is almost 1 year, the first version could have been lost and then re-created from the second one, with potential mistakes of course. Who can tell! After all, it's the world with human factor in charge.

This fact is disturbing per se. However, my point is you're trying too hard to take noise for signals and identify the patterns that don't exist...

The claim is that Bytecoin either tricked or somehow deceived CryptoNote, created at least 6 forks (including Monero), promoted them, built a community around them. Some of the mentioned coins (Boolberry, duckNote, Fantomcoin) are so far from Bytecoin, you'd have to hire a separate dev team just to keep it going. If this is true what else are those "guys" can be responsible for?

I'm sorry I'm not buying it. It's just a common sense underpinned by Hanlon's razor:

Quote
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

It's more likely that these guys are just not really from within the forum community and that is pretty much it.

This may as well be CryptoNote's PR. Such an attention to all the coins and the mysteries around them...
