If we really want the zerocoin project to succeed why not make an entirely new coin with :

1) emission figured out from the beginning to the end
2) a total supply that makes sense
3) a good name

I'm sure I've forgotten many things.

A new coin? Are you serious?

This is one of the best distributed coins. The coins age combined with a fair launch and a high total trading volume the past 18 months, is an extremly sound fundament for future developments.

And anoncoin is not just about zerocoin. The i2p project is also significant and adds value to anoncoins foundation. Features can be cloned, fundamentals can not.

Anoncoins biggest problems seems to be that the main developer is extremly bad at communication. And awful planning.

It is not just about ZC,  Pablo was right about that..
But whats is done in other direction?
Where is main developer?

It is not just bad communication here..

To all who plan to attack me. I haven't dump a single coin.
I'm just sick of that lying to us!

I suggest meeh to get rid of gnosis asap, and make some plan for future of ANC!

If he ever shows here...

You're being naive and you're emotionally attached to the coin, which indicates you're most likely going to lose all your investment. If Gnosis is bad at communication, Meeh is 10x worse. Hell, the guy started this project and has nothing to say despite ANC having failed a major milestone? Minimum they could do right now is to show some cohesion, and a clear plan, but instead they hide in the shadows. This project lacks not only a developer, it lacks a leader. Meeh is not such a person.

If I may, I'd like to make some suggestions to the ANC team...

Before the move to zANC I think it would be wise to fix the KGW issue; I don't think K1773R wants to spend his life mining 100k tx when the volume of transactions goes up. It doesn't need to come with the myriad if this is holding ANC back; these could be sequenced.
@ meeh it'd be nice to get an idea of when the fix will be made.

@ Gnosis it seems like a heavy schedule during the 1 week assumed to deliver the zANC testnet... Personally I don't like to get news of delays 1 day before a deadline - it's much better to assume things take 2X or even 3X longer when setting a deadline and deliver ahead of schedule (if things are ready); this fuels much more positive cycles. I know that this is complex and difficult to plan, it's only a matter of managing expectations from the community.

Agreed with the above!

Would also like to add that the proposed schedule outlined by Gnosis looks very heavy and I would infer unrealistic.

I rest my case Wink

Yes, it was very heavy. In any case, I am still committed to getting this done, just not in the original time frame.

It's probably too much to ask, but for all of you panicking about the price dropping, hold tight because this is only temporary. I remember when BTC dropped from $30 to $2 and stayed there for months, before going back up to $60 and beyond. A coin dropping in price does not mean it's dead.

Bare minimum you should be doing by now besides apologizing is giving a full and detailed report of what you supposedly have achieved so far, and why you are postponing it again for 3 months after being 3 or 4 days away from the release date. The very fact that I am having to tell you this, along with your excess of optimism setting deadlines, is a big hit to your reputation and nail in ANC's coffin IMO.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: October 20, 2014, 12:01:25 AM
I underestimated the scope of this project and set too ambitious of a schedule for it. Zerocoin will be probably be ready within 2-3 months, but I don't want to give any more release dates (either for testnet or mainnet) until I am very, very close. I will not make this mistake again.

I will continue to give status updates, and I have made tremendous progress in recent weeks. As I promised, I will still work full time on this until November 1, and I expect to have a few hours a day after that to work on it.

Really, this is the best you can do after saying it'd be ready in a week?

I guess you are correct. How much should I pay and how do I fix that for the current transaction?

Awesome explanation thanks!

My transaction from ANC-qt hasn't been broadcasted in the last 24h. What's up with that?

0 transaction fee?

Recently, I received 250 ANC from yoyo and a matching 250 ANC from TheKoziTwo, so this lets me work full time through October 18.  Since I am scheduled to start the testnet with Zerocoin on October 15 at the latest, this means I can work full time until the testnet launch and for 3 days after, to fix any problems that may appear. Thanks!!!

Anyway, I just wanted to clear up some confusion here about the RSA UFOs: users will be able to know that I do not have the complete factorization because the UFOs were produced by hashing with a cryptographically secure hash function (SHA-256, which is used everywhere in Bitcoin, Litecoin, Anoncoin, etc.). Small factors were found and removed in the UFO project. So the procedure to generate the complete RSA UFOs is 1) create the 13 "raw" UFOs by hashing, and 2) divide out the small factors found in the UFO project. This is performed not only by the UFO clients and server, but also will be performed on startup by all Anoncoin wallet software. The code is already there to do this.

Also, there is not one UFO, but 13 UFOs; to be valid, a coin must be accumulated in all of them. Using Monte Carlo simulations, I have found that there is a ~20% chance that any one of them can be factored by an extremely powerful attacker. This means that the probability of all 13 UFOs being factored by an extremely powerful attacker is about 1 in a billion -- and note that it would take factoring all of them to be able to forge zerocoins. My definition of "extremely powerful attacker" is one that can remove factors by the Elliptic Curve Method (ECM) up to 768 bits and can factor numbers up to 2048 bits using the Generalized Number Field Sieve (GNFS). This is far beyond what anybody is likely to be able to do for many decades.

Can you ellaborate how you concluded the chance of factorization of a single UFO by an extremely powerful attacker is ~20%? To me a probability only makes sense if you take the variable time into account. How can a powerful attacker have a ~20% chance of factorization spending either 1 day or 1 year of computing power trying to factorize the number?

I do not tend to respond to trolling, however I do _not_ consider these questions to be trolling. Your requests for information might seem a bit hostile though and thrown onto the trolling pile. Like you pointed out these are completely legitimate questions that should be answered. However we do not have the answers to these questions at this time.
Preferably we will have a way to ensure that anyone can verify that the generated UFO's are in fact the ones that are deployed, and at the same time deliver proof of destruction of the initial parameters. Worst case scenario, the users might actually have to trust the dev team to do this right. If it comes down to trusting the team, it will probably hurt the price quite a bit, but the technology itself will in no way be impacted.

This is quite different from what has been repeteadly announced by Gnosis. The "trustless" Zerocoin setup had never been questioned, until now. To come now and say that "maybe" the community will have to trust the dev team in order to make it right is definitely a change in the official position, and one that puts ANC at risk.

The setup itself will be trustless once implemented. I do not have enough insight to contradict Gnosis's announcement, but I haven't heard of any way to provide good proof of destruction at this time. You should not weight my word heaver than his though as he might know how to do it. I'm just saying there is a chance that trusting the team for at least some part of the implementation might become necessary.

You're part of the dev team, and your words may cause more impact than others. IMO Gnosis should clarify this point asap.

ll offer .05 btc on bitcoin.ae and .025 btc on litecoin.biz

Please check out the original post as well as the many reported sales. Nothing that I've ever sold went below $4,000. You're offering me peanuts on premium domains that don't even cover reg fees.

[trolling removed]

Gnosis is not needed to answer this one, as it's a very weak claim. There will only be a handful of denominations (maybe one for each order of magnitude?), and one can only guess a given spend came from someone who has ever contributed to the pool of that denomination. As the number of people who contributed to a denomination only increases with time, the likehood the blockchain can be analyzed based on that information only decreases, rapidly becoming negligible.

There will be 24 possible denominations for 10^e and 5*10^e; I expect only the very highest several denominations will be used in the beginning. The Zerocoin GUI will show the number of coins accumulated for each denomination and the mint/spend volume over the last 100 blocks or so, allowing users to decide for themselves how anonymous their ZC mint/spend activity will be.

Relevant code: https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin/blob/zc/src/zerocoin/Coin.h#L26

Anoncoin denominations are (in satoshis) either 10^e or 5*10^e where e is in [0, 11]

Gnosis, would you consider dropping the "Zerocoin" terminology, in the UI only, as it's not easily understood by newcomers? For a new user, it looks like there are two separate coins, Anoncoin and Zerocoin, which adds to the confusion. How about just calling them "vouchers" in the client? It's an existing, neutral word with a self-explanatory meaning.

In the future, I'd really like to see an anonymization wizard that entirely drops the need for a new user to understand or deal with Zerocoin, while leaving the possibility for advanced users to do so.

VERSUS...

One more fail to try discredit me. He respond about transaction size and speed but what about:
Zerocoin doesn't hide coin destination and amount.
Then if the number of people who contributed to the zerocoin pool for denomination is small, it will be very easy to analyze the blockchain and find where they come from.

Concerning this Borrowing of others...
In science, most things are borrowed, some mixed up borrowed things might even get called innovation from time to time Smiley
Especially in math we need others and already thought out techniques to reach success and develop further.

Gnosis simply adapted the idea because it seems there a few out there, the idea was good and ... done! Now he tries to use it for another purpose, there is no problem whatsoever with this.

Of course some of us have our doubts, even I do have them : ) But hey... look in the Github on the commits page Smiley

btcseller3c brings some valid criticisms though, as in science you need to be able to independently replicate an experiment or, in the case of math, a peer review in order to have your work accepted by the community. ANC would benefit a lot from an independent review of the RSA UFO project and, at a later date, of its Zerocoin implementation.

The rate at which the donation builds up is a little too slow,COME ON,$2750 is very low remuneration for a knowledgeable man whose work will be the Progress of Milepost Type.

Maybe it will build up after he delivers what he's promised.

If someone here can make a nice catchy landing page, I can donate free traffic (~1.5k visitors/day) to raise awareness regarding the upcoming ZC launch.

Any takers?

Yes. Sure. A new design of Anoncoin.net is already there. We just have to implement it.

I was thinking of a promotional page, maybe with a countdown to ZC's launch on Oct 15th. It should have a simple message, like "Care about your financial privacy?" and then explain in simple terms ANC's implementation of ZC and why it's better than other coins. At the end of the page, a "Know more" link to ANC's main site.

If you do this, send me the link and I will bring lots of qualified visitors until launch.
