A technology.

Bitcoin is a protocol that establishes for the first time a historic record of events that can not be modified, removed or accidentally destroyed.
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What bitcoin is for you ? on: February 18, 2014, 05:43:53 AM
A highly efficient money.

I can send value denominated in bitcoin across the world quickly and free.
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A reusable paper wallet on: February 17, 2014, 02:56:39 PM
I've thought about this too but I don't see a solution other than selling stacks of 100 paper foldable wallets, which are 1 time use.

You really need a new priv key for every spend tx, there is no way around that.

Maybe a 2factor auth, replacing the priv key by a standard timestamped code, like google authenticator. But you push the problem from having your own wallet to having your own authenticator.

Of course. No credit card fraud, less fees. But it's not just a mouse click Smiley

Can you get me a standard deviation of the price? Preferably daily.
146  Economy / Economics / Re: statistical analysis of 2013 on: February 16, 2014, 04:51:41 AM
I was just talking to a friend how it's always down on Saturday Cheesy

147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which Bitcoin Client do you use and why ? on: February 15, 2014, 10:57:56 PM
blockchain.info is really good as your hot wallet

for medium term funds I'd use paper wallets or 1 time brain wallets with pass-phrases (1 on your desk, 1 local backup, 1 cloud backup)

for long term funds cold storage, there is some guides like here http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinWallet/comments/1p6y5c/secure_paper_wallet_tutorial/
148  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: BTC :: Skrill Neteller PokerStars (Selling & Buying) on: February 14, 2014, 11:14:39 PM
Hi Antoniovg, using an escrow is fine with me. If you find someone we both trust that uses the payment methods we use that is perfect.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobody spends their coins and that is killing Bitcoin, everyone "knows" that. on: February 14, 2014, 06:45:43 PM
We need some clarification on how that spending speed / holding period is calculated.

Surely cold storage by the big holders accounts for more than that brown bar in 2013.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitchack compettition on: February 14, 2014, 06:40:25 PM
Very good. Who is behind it?

Might make sense for the big holders to sponsor things like that.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is failing in replacing fiat in physical shops on: February 14, 2014, 06:01:15 PM
Spending outputs from zero conf tx cause a problem.
Zero conf tx themselves do not.

What amounts are you talking about?

For small amounts but high vig use localbitcoins.

For medium amounts try to find a regular trader that accepts bank transfers. I might be able to help.

For large amounts, get a currencyfair.com account, and a bitstamp account, then send GBP to currencyfair, exchange almost vig free to EUR, then deposit into bitstamp. KYC for both.
154  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: BTC :: Skrill Neteller PokerStars (Selling & Buying) on: February 14, 2014, 03:31:05 AM
Ok.

I know a couple people on this forum who I've traded with, they can confirm by message, maybe also give trust rating, I will have to figure out how that works.

Sleep time here now. Please don't spam the thread too much while Im away Smiley
155  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: BTC :: Skrill Neteller PokerStars (Selling & Buying) on: February 14, 2014, 03:07:00 AM
I reply quickly on skype Smiley

Is there a way to get push notifications from threads?

My minimum is 0.5 BTC.

You can find a reputable escrow, but I'm not actively looking for one. As I wrote I can provide references if you ask.

I offer my deal, if you don't feel safe, that's fine, you can find someone else.
156  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: BTC :: Skrill Neteller PokerStars (Selling & Buying) on: February 14, 2014, 02:27:58 AM
Since bitstamp price it quite volatile logging in a price through the forum is a bit difficult.

I don't know Virwox, but most sites have withdrawls regulation that states you can only withdraw to your own accounts.

I don't know an escrow for Skrill or Neteller; Skrill has 1 EUR fee on all P2P transfers.

How much are you looking for?
157  Economy / Currency exchange / BTC :: Skrill Neteller PokerStars (Selling & Buying) on: February 14, 2014, 02:12:32 AM

159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2 mysterious satoshi transfers from addresses enjoy, sochi. on: February 13, 2014, 07:06:12 PM
I think the software already deals with this, every node only keeps a limited list of pending transactions, and kicks out the ones with lowest priority if the list is full

Some dev explanation how this works exactly would be appreciated.
160  Economy / Economics / Re: Makes any sense to buy now? on: February 13, 2014, 06:24:18 PM
Put a post-it on your monitor: Now is the best time to buy. Look at it daily.
