Anyone has experience in how many you can run off one computer? Say I can find one or several USB-hubs , how many will run off one pc? I read they suggest 10-15 per 1 raspberry, but I have several mainboards/psus.

You guys think 100 per computer could be possible? 11 USB hubs with 10 ports and own powersupply should do the job. Thoughts?

Isnt there a 127 device limit on USB? Dont know if thats per controller or within the OS though.

I've got 20 running on one PC right now and they are all working great. One things I've noticed for those of you running cgminer to control these things. My pool was reporting about 75% of what cgminer said my speed was. After switching back to cpuminer (one instance per miner) I'm seeing average speeds of 355khs on my pool now.

I suppose I've been lucky as I've never lost any BTC from my wallet or any online system (mt.gox). I even left my two GPU miners alone for over two years, completely un monitored other than virus updates during that time.

I hate that this happens. I loaned a guy 25BTC in November and he lost it in a few days thanks to an attack on the web site he had them on.

would this be able to happen to an encrypted wallet? That sucks.

Not sure if you guys seen this before .. but this guys are running 1 Petahash!

So is there any way to control the fans? (cgminer, wiibox...?) automatically or even manually?

Nope, fans are directly powered by +12VDC on the board. I unsoldered all of mine.

Here is my 2 units after 24hrs:

I think we need a firmware update.

How are you guys getting these damn things to work in cgminer??? I can only get one to be seen at a time.  Huh

Start cgminer then plug in the gridseeds one at a time. they seem to like usb 2.0 better then 3.0 usb from the computer

Must be my dumb luck, this method doesnt work for me.

So I did a little experiment with 12 grids today. I disconnected the fans, stacked them three high and stuffed them behind a PC to see if they would get hot/warm in single mode only. They did get warm to the touch but they still stayed above 300khs clocked at 850. didnt seem to error out much either.

I've since reconnected the fans and gave them room to breath, hash rates went up about 20-30khs each! Pretty cool!

Next test will be running the fans at +5VDC. Smiley

Can you post more details about your setup? What hubs are you using, how much hash are you averaging per device, and what you are using as an controller.
Thank you!

I'm curious about the controller too.

I've had zero luck with the controller that came with these things from Zoom. I had to put them all on PC's.

ordered 60 units. knew i wasnt going to get power supplies but i got no barrel plugs at all.

I am pretty annoyed right about now. I already ordered them off amazon seeing as i refuse to wait for new barrel plugs to get shipped from china.
(My order got shipped from china not california...)

I had to spend 120$ for 60 barrel plug cords also i cant mine with them in the mean time. I hope zoomhash will rectify the situation to the best of his ability.

PS: this morning i wake up to my phone ringing at about 8 am cause fedex is calling trying to figure out my address due to the fact they were only given a partial by the shipper...

Overall disappointed in the results of the chinese factory. Seems like they could put in a little more effort.

I can tell you that Zoom has been SUPER quick to rectify issues I've had with items missing from shipping (oddly enough all from China too, hmm).

60 will make a nice little farm. You going to run them in single or dual mode? I just got done taking 12 off of a controller and putting them on a Win7 box. LTC only, no fans... Cool and quiet. Smiley

Anyone tried to flash the firmware of the miners? I've read the manual from LA but it looks like something I wouldn't want to just "try" for fun Smiley

So far I can't find out which firmware is on the gridseeds anyway so can't see if I can upgrade anything.

I'd be willing to give the firmware flash a go. Gota link? I've looked everywhere and have not been able to find any info on a firmware update for these things.

ok, thx, and we are needing the 2.5mm or 2.1 .... now I'm confused lol

I use 2.1 although 2.5 will work.
193  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [INSTOCK in California] Selling Gridseed Asics. Ship from California. [$235] on: March 10, 2014, 03:44:46 AM

you need to find out if it is center positive and that it is either 2.1mmx 5.5 or 2.5 x 5.5 end.

One of the images shows it to be center positive but it doesnt say the size. Also, 60 watts is right at where these things run in dual mode so its probably going to get pretty hot pretty fast.

1100w, 34MH, 95 gridseeds with two PCs controlling everything.

2 PC's huh? You dont have 95 instances of cpuminer open do you? I'd be curious to know what software your using to mine.

Impressive setup BTW. Really like the low power footprint.

Ya know, I honestly dont understand that GitHub site. Am I supposed to be able to download a single file to get all those files or do I need to download them one at a time?

I've got 9 Ztex 1.15y's sitting around doing nothing. Mining blackecoin or bitcoin or whatever would at least give these things something to do....

Sorry, can't help you with that one. I suggest getting a hub and just running them off a comp. Seems the controllers are the source for most the problems currently.

Agreed.
197  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [INSTOCK in California] Selling Gridseed Asics. Ship from California. [$235] on: March 09, 2014, 11:25:35 PM
and now they just all went offline. BTC and LTC and wont restart.

f***  Angry

If you are using cgminer you might have to restart the comp.

Using the controller that came with the miners.
198  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [INSTOCK in California] Selling Gridseed Asics. Ship from California. [$235] on: March 09, 2014, 11:19:34 PM
its starting to look like the best I'm going to get out of these things 12 miners in dual mode is ~1100khs scrypt. I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed in this.
This is interesting to know... I wonder what others are getting? Maybe under powered or overclocked at all?

Actually, after doing some reading, I come to find out that this is normal. The scrypt cores cut back to almost 1/3 of quoted hashing speed when the miner is running in dual mode (dont recall where I read that but will quote it when I do).

I'm also finding out that once these miners are fired up into dual mode YOU CANT GET THEM OUT OF DUAL MODE without powering them down! What a stupid design. If some one knows how to get them out of dual mode without power cycling please LMK. I'm away form the miners and cant power cycle them from here.

I'm going to ditch the controller, hook these things up to a PC and mine in single mode. I've got 6 miners connected to a PC (Win7) that have been running in single mode for over a week without a single problem.

FWIW, I'm powering them via PCIe power with cables made by cablez (hope I spelled that right) out of a 1200 watt EVGA power supply. They are all clocked at 850.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gridseed GC3355 -Hybrid Scrypt/SHA256 ASIC on: March 09, 2014, 10:46:25 PM
The controllers get a lot of bad reviews for reliability.  It seems to be more stable running on a bit higher end hardware.  There are simple guides for installing on windows/linux/pi all over.

I can say that without a doubt these things are easier to run WITHOUT the controllers. I've been going back and forth with 12 of them and a controller ALL DAY. They will connect and mine for some period of time then out of no where disconnect while still drawing full power form the wall..

I think I'm going to try to dual mine with a PC and if that doesnt work I'll go back to single mode and mine LTC only. It sure would be nice to have 200ghs of BTC mining though. Sad
