I'm quite interesting what a R9 390 8 GB does on ETH nowadays. I mean with lolminer 1.22 and proper tuning. Anyone has one?

29 easy, 30 and higher with more powerlimit. Only linux. Windows is 15 only.

Wow that's impressive! I though it got much lower with the increased DAG file. What power consumsion does it? Why only half in Windows?

It's still very profitable nowadays I assume? Anyone having a modern rig of R9 390 8 GB?

2-nd day mining ETH with TRM:

Polaris 8GB - uptime 30h @ 30+ MH/s and power consumption is low!  Good job!

Polaris 4GB - crash after crash after hang after crash and so on...
Rig is not broken: tested it with ETC and all good.
Can someone please share basic Linux command line and oc/uv settings for 4GB RX470/570 cards to mine ETH?

For mining Ethereum on 4 GB cards I recommend lolminer. My rig also crashes random within 5-15 mins with TRM on 4 GB cards.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX Vega 56 & 64 on: January 25, 2021, 10:39:11 PM
My Vega 56s kicks ass! They are really nice, all doing 50+ MH/s @ ETH. I love them actually! Smiley

Before Ethereum I mined Vertcoin very well on them, and before that they were a beast at Monero! Not to forgotten Electroneum, but that's another story Tongue

Hi there! I have been mining ETH for a while and my rigs are working just fine!

But, when I switch to mine to NiceHash I get a lot of rejected shares. For about one hour I got 230 accepted shares and 6 rejected shares. Is there a good fix for this?

I'm running --eth_stratum_mode=nicehash but nothing more.

Still power hungry when comparing to other graphic cards, this is why I still respect the old RX580 gpus, two of these card can do 64mhs with power draw of 80watts per card, that's 160 watts at 64mhs, honestly way better than this RTX3080 when mining Ethereum

A 3080 does 99-100 mh at 215-220W .

3 580’s would hit 100mh at 240w  if they really stay 80W .

How are they less power hungry than 3080’s ?

No three RX 580 will draw a little bit more watts to archive 100 MH/s than one RTX 3080. But there one very important aspect to consider, RX 580's is a LOT cheaper. That's like the most importent parameter I'm looking into when buying GPUs for mining.

Well now, no GPUs are cheap, that's why I don't buy any at the moment either. Never buy GPUs when crypto is high and demand it high for GPUs, that's really dumb!

I have an ASUS TUF RTX 3080 in my gaming rig. I have tested to mine Ethereum at 97 MHs @ 220 W. No problems there, but the temperature is like 47-50C, but the fans are running at 75%. Why are the temps so low? But I think they arn't..?

My RTX 2080 Ti showed like 65-70C @ 60 MHs.

Anyone else noticed this, seems like the card is getting hotter than it shows? I assume the VRAM is getting hot as hell? Smiley No temp for VRAM sadly..?
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My RX580 is confusing me. How to fine tune it? on: March 09, 2020, 10:48:42 AM
It's totally safe to only plug in one 8 pin PCIe into Sapphire RX 580s. I'm running my 12x RX 570/580 that way, and it's hashing away just fine. The second 6 pin is just if you want to deliver more power (overclock the GPU much). You don't want that with mining.

You are doing it right, down with voltage and core clock (around 1100 MHz is the sweatspot.) And I been able to get voltage to 800 mV (even lower is possible), but it all depends on the ASIC chips and quality of the GPU. Memory clock is typical around 2000 MHz.

I'm recommend OverDrivenTool as tuning software for Polaris cards. It's very straight forward and easy to use. You can also make a batch file so you automatic set the clocks/voltages when you'r satisfied!
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What would your ideal mining gpu rig be? on: January 24, 2020, 10:51:53 PM
Well you can't use Threadripper on that motherboard. You need a motherboard with socket TR4 for Threadripper 2950x. Also I would go with more RAM if you should CPU mine on it as well. Better buy a Ryzen 3900x or something if you are planning to CPU mine, more cost efficient.

Also, the power supplies are a bit over powered, even for that system. Go with one 1600 and one cheaper maybe like 750 W. If you run it efficent you will consume like top 200 W per GPU.

I have some problems when mining TurtleCoin. After some hours or so, GPU5 dies, but as it seems, it hashes quite good actually.

I should say Monero or VertCoin maybe?

I have notice that power consumption at Chukwa is much higher than on CNR all across the board (Polaris/Vega/R7). How come? Or am I doing something wrong? I have even lowered clock the frequences against CNR.

Ex. 12x R570/580 @ CNR 10820 H/s @ 960 W from the wall. Same rig at Chukwa is doing 702 KH/s @ 1250 W. Is this normal? Smiley
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 4.6c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: September 23, 2019, 02:20:21 PM
I havn't tried PhoenixMiner that much before on my 12x Polaris rig. It works just fine, but I don't get that high hashrate with the miner, as of another miner. Anyone have some tips for me to increase hashrate. I have tried -clnew -clkernal 1-3. Doing autoconfig aswell.

I'm getting like 29.8-30.2 MH/s at 1110 MHz Core and ~2050 MHz Mem.

which GPU exactly? I get 30 MH/s with RX470 if you have 8GB of VRAM you can use "-clkernel 3" and try "-mt 2" it's changing the timing but if you cards are already flashed you will have a lower hashrate.

I get better hashrate with the other miner and option -rxboost and -strap, but it's a little bit less stable and need lower frequencies.

For exemple with this other miner I get 33,1 MH/s with RX580 8Gb and 30,5 MH/s with RX470 4GB.

Sapphire RX 570/580 8 GB. But I'm running my GPUs at low clocks ~1100 MHz Core/~2000 MHz Mem @ 800 mV. What frequency/voltage do you run to achive 33 MH/s, it can't draw low power? Smiley

At another miner I'm getting 30.5 MH/s at same clocks/voltage.

AMD Ryzen 3900x is the best CPU imo (it's great at cn/r also), it has a large cache that both CN/R and RandomX loves, totally 70 MB. You don't need much RAM or a fancy motherboard (x370/x470/b350 is really enough).
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Who ordered the AMD Radeon VII? Lets make a list of Miners / Hashrates / Coins on: September 08, 2019, 06:33:33 AM
I have one that I bought when they came out. Have nothing bad to say, it works like a clockwork Smiley I'm mining mostly Ethereum and Monero with it.

If I would buy one today? No, but I would not buy any new GPU for mining today.

C29/C31 are true memory hogs. They will use > 7GB per gpu, while MTP is "only" using ~4.3GB. The error above indicates that the driver won't let us allocate vram for GPU 6, and I'm guessing it's because there is no host memory address space to use for the mapping.

How much swap do you have available? Can you make sure it's at least 8GB x NrGPUs?

Thanks! It was that easy, I had a little too little swap, when I extended it works just fine, thanks! Smiley
