85  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is my laptop good enough to mine some cryptocoins? on: November 07, 2013, 08:07:56 PM
I have a similar labtop and I am using it to mine goldcoin. I get around 1 an hr (YMMV) so its not a lost cause but make sure you have plenty of ventilation or you will end up breaking it.
86  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Has Coinbox been hacked now as well or just server downtime? on: November 07, 2013, 07:58:32 PM
To me it seems like a server issue. When you go to various pages it gets a 404 page which to me means server issue or maybe the drive didn't mount everything just right.

I didn't know that. Good to know.

I have opened the pool (gld.cryptocoinmine.com) on a test basis.

I will work on getting the coins distributed from the old pool/wallet over the next couple of days.

Just a reminder that the pool is now vardiff, so miners difficulty will be adjusted to get around ~8 shares a minute. The value of the shares is based on the difficulty the miner is set at.

Also, please check that your mining software is set correctly, I had to delete one pool_worker (not account) this morning as it had submitted ~3,000 invalid shares.

I tried to register and it said it was disabled

Sorry about that, I forgot to turn registration back on.. Smiley

Question, OP said it was a donation pool but site says 1.5% which is correct. That way we have correct info.

Giving https://www.goldcoinfor.me a try, some others come and throw a few K on the hash rate!

I wish you the best of luck, but remember there is a reason all the Goldcoin pools are closed right now.  Wink

My pool (gld.cryptocoinpool.com) while closed to the public, has been up for private testing. Though with my personal rigs I am about half the hash  rate of the network, I have yet to get an accepted block.

If you want another tester let me know. I've got no problems helping out the cause

Please correct me if I'm wrong. When you solo mine you setup the conf file then use cgminer or something like it to generate the coins? I tried to use the start mining button but nothing happened and I left it on for a few hours. I looked at the debug console and it said the "The setgenerate command has been disabled"  Ive never solo mined before.

I tried Cudaminer but it kept crashing but thats a topic for another day. Its just strange that benchmark gets great rates but it wont run like normal.  Is it normal for benchmark to run perfectly but when you step out of benchmark it goes crazy? Heck I just want to GPU mine and step away from cpuminer. I would even let someone into the box to check it out.

Benchmark is for bitcoin mining. You are failing to scrypt mine.

That makes sense. Is there a way to see why scrypt mining is failing?  The 9100 is the one the screen is attached to and the GeForce 8600 GT is the higher power one i want to use for gpu mining

I have a computer with 2 Nvidia cards and the benchmark works perfectly but when I run normal it segfaults. This is an xubuntu machine. below is the debug from cgminer.  I don't expect a lot of hashes just have to last until my 7900's get here. How would I fix this? I'm still a newbe so please forgive me if its something stupid simple. ALso if anyone has working worksize for these cards please let me know, I would love to get a few extra hashes.
for scrypt+nvidia, you're probably better off trying cudaminer.
