1  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 🔥Seedkeeper🔥 Hardware device to safely store your seed on: Today at 03:29:56 PM

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to use Seedkeeper
A step-by-step tutorial
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you sure to use the good hardware to safely store your seedphrases?

If you’re embarking on your crypto adventure and want to keep your assets yourself, the question of how to keep your seedphrase will arise fairly quickly.

If you do a quick search on the Internet, which we encourage you to do, you’ll quickly discover that all methods (even the most extreme) are out there when it comes to securing your seedphrase (aka mnemonic or seed) and keeping it as safe as possible.

Generally speaking, it’s always advisable to have several backups of your seedphrase. Just as it’s advisable to have several backups of your hard disks when they contain sensitive information, so as not to lose access to them permanently, it’s just as important to ensure that you never lose access to your seedphrase.

It is therefore possible to use a variety of storage methods, as long as they offer adequate security.

One of the simplest methods is to use Seedkeeper to save your recovery phrases.

what would be cool is if they could get funded with the 3.125 mBTC from the halving block!
Yes it would, but someone would have to pay a lot more for that because of crazy transaction fees  Tongue
I wonder if someone actually did it anyway...

Fomo is real, only 10 left for this limited edition.

Very cool Bitcoin Halving design, but why making it only Satodime when you could do the same for Satochip and Seedkeeper?
I understand that Satodime can be used more as the bearer cold storage, but I think this design would work perfectly for Satochip.
€35 for one card is not bad, especially when only 50 united will ever be released.

I am sharing a few more real life images from this halving limited edition card:

Hey,

We decided to create a limited edition for Satodime as a tribute to all those "bearer instruments" that marked the history of Bitcoin...
In the early days, before the first Halving, people used paper wallets to store and manage their Bitcoins.
Then we saw the emergence of physical coins (BIP38 and so on...) with the Casascius coin in 2011 and the Lealana coin (my favorite) later on...
In 2016 or so, Coinkite's Opendime saw the light...

Bearer instruments are synonymous with freedom. The physical exchange of digital assets in P2P is free, non-custodial, non-taxable.

Satodime is the perfect product to immortilize the historical data of the Bitcoin Halving: block heights, Bitcoin price, past and new block rewards.

I also suggest the buyers to fund the Satodime with 3.125 mBTC when they got it.

Satodime
New promotional video

Great new promo video Wink
I was wondering if there a way of creating miniature version of Satodime with using SIM javacards?
I know you are already selling this blank sim cards for DIY projects, but I think this would work perfectly as small cold storage gift.

Thank you.

Yes, it's possible to load Satodime applet on a SIM size card but there will be NO NFC on this one.
Thus you might have some trouble with the ownership functionnality. See https://satochip.io/satodime-ownership-explained/ for more information about NFC interface and how ownership works.

11  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 🔥Seedkeeper🔥 Hardware device to safely store your seed on: April 02, 2024, 07:05:25 AM
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New release : Seedkeeper-Tool v0.1.3
Patch BIP39 seed import wizard to a Satochip (#12)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Context
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

A bug in SeedKeeper-Tool v0.1.2 and previous versions is affecting the import of a seed in a Satochip card.

Because of this bug, when importing a (BIP39) mnemonic from the SeedKeeperTool wizard to a Satochip card (in plaintext), the mnemonic type is not identified correctly,
and the wrong seed derivation algorithm (the one normally used for Electrum mnemonic) is used.
Consequently the addresses derived from the seed are not compatible with standard BIP39 as should be expected.

The bug only affected the user of SeedKeeper-Tool v0.1.2 (and previous versions) who used SeedKeeperTool
to import a BIP39 seed in a satochip card in plaintext (through the "Import a Secret" menu, then "Mnemonic phrase" option).

That bug was patched in SeedKeeper-Tool v0.1.3.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who is affected?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are not sure whether you are concerned, you can confirm that your are affected by this bug by following this procedure:

- Open your hardware wallet in Electrum-Satochip, then check balance and generated addresses
(you can also go to "Wallet" in the menu, then select "Information" option and copy the "Master Public Key").
- Create a new Electrum software wallet by importig your BIP39 seed in Electrum. Check the balance and adresses (or the Master Public Key as in the first step).

If the balances and addresses (or equivalently, the Master Public Keys) do not match between the hardware and software wallets, you are affected by the bug.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
My wallet is affected, what should I do?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are affected by the bug and have access to your wallet, it is recommended to transfer all your funds to a new wallet with the correct seed import format to ensure compatibility in the future.

However, if you only have your seed backup for an affected wallet and need to recover the funds, you can use the SeedKeeperTool-patch12 to recover your wallet,
by following the procedure described in the next section.

This small utility (SeedKeeperTool-patch12) allows a user affected by this bug
to recover a wallet derived from the BIP39 seed with the non-standard derivation, either to a new Satochip card, or through Electrum.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to use the SeedKeeperTool-patch12
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Install the python script dependencies:
Code:
python -m pip install -r requirements.txt

Run the script:
Code:
'python SeedKeeperTool-patch12.py': python SeedKeeperTool-patch12.py

Based on your seed, the script will generate masterseed, xpriv, ypriv and zpriv that can be used to set up a wallet.

-----------------------------------
Recover through a Satochip card

Use the latest SeedKeeperTool release to import the masterseed into a Satochip.

-----------------------------------
Recover through electrum (for Bitcoin only)

Provide the BIP39 backup and (optionally) passphrase when prompted by the tool.
The tool will then generate the xpriv, ypriv and zpriv corresponding to your mnemonic, as derived (in a non-standard way) using the electrum derivation.
The xpriv is used for legacy wallet (BIP32 derivation path m/44h/0h/0h). The zpriv is used for segwit wallet (BIP32 derivation path m/84h/0h/0h).
The ypriv is used for p2sh-segwit wallet (BIP32 derivation path m/49h/0h/0h).

Launch electrum (https://electrum.org/) and create a new wallet using the wallet creation wizard (see also the printscreens in folder):

- Create new wallet: choose "Standard wallet"
- Keystore: choose "Use a master key"
- Create a keystore from a master key: enter the xpriv/ypriv or zpriv then click next

Your wallet generated from the seed with the non-standard derivation algorithm should be created.

---==    Satodime   ==---
A good use case made by mx12.levins

---------------------------------== Load BTC into your artwork ==---------------------------------

The artist MX12.levins made an interesting usage of Satodime, the bearer crypto card.
He attached a loaded Satodime card onto the painting.

You can easily check the Bitcoin balances using any mobilephone but you CAN'T recover the private key.
Only the true owner of the card - thus the art - can recover the private key but will have to extract the card from the art.

In other words, if you wanna grab the BTC back, you'll have to destroy the art.

Scarcity as its finest!

Satochip is proud to release the new version of its tool for your Android phone!
Is new updated Satochip app also coming in near future and when can we expect it for download or maybe for early testing?
In would be ideal if we had one app that manages both Satochip and Satodime cards, if possible.

We are currently working on the Seedkeeper mobile app. And plan to integrate well known mobile wallet for Satochip.
Currentrly under discussions with several existing projects.

I would like to take a moment to thanks mx12.levins for his wonderful art!

I had the opportunity to snipe this beauty last year... Receive it in a perfectly crafted package, fast and secure!
Once opened, I was shocked by the size of the canvas. Way bigger than expected. Than suprised by the painting quality. There are a lot of details that makes this a true collector.

Check out by yourself!

18  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: SATOCHIP The Times Limited Edition HW cards! on: February 07, 2024, 10:14:17 AM
Hi everyone...

Was not paying attention to this thread so I'm back with a few information:

- Our products are all based on the same smartcard and the same secure element.
- We have developed 3 different firmwares loaded on each card, each with a different design. Everything is opensource and can be found here: https://github.com/Toporin
- Cards are dual interface, meaning that they can be used with a chip card reader (contact interface) or with a NFC reader (contactless).

Smart cards need software to be used. To date, we have developed the following open-source software:
- For Satochip : DESKTOP ONLY (natively integrated with Sparrow Wallet, Uniblow Wallet and soon Electrum) + a 2FA mobile app that act as a detached screen to confirm, on your mobile phone, your TXs.
- For Satodime : DESKTOP and MOBILE
- For Seedkeeper : DESKTOP ONLY (we will release a mobile app in a few weeks).

Conclusion: you can use each cards with NFC but you will be only able to use Satodime with your mobile phone.

Feel free to reach our Telegram channel for more in-depth discussion about Satochip products and developments : https://t.me/satochip

20  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] Bitcoin Halvening Watch on: January 16, 2024, 08:01:35 PM
Hello guys, this is Carlos Estrada, founder of Coin Vigilante Bitcoin watches being discussed here. I was made aware of the conversation and I wanted to hop in here to answer any questions and let you know about our biggest release yet! For background, our goal is to create timepieces that represent the importance and elegance of sound money. For every person who wears these watches, there is someone representing Bitcoin wherever they go. Currently our watches are worn in over 40 countries, we have a 2 year warranty, and our watches are made of high quality materials - stainless steel 316 L, sapphire glass (new editions)… we recently launched our biggest release yet featuring an impeccable design: the Bitcoin Halving 2024 watch. Here’s what you need to know.

The Bitcoin Halving 2024 watch is a very special release to me…

We created it to celebrate and remember the iconic halving - when the reward for Bitcoin mining cuts in half every 4 years

This mechanism built into Bitcoin counteracts inflation and provides scarcity. A system that helps protect the purchasing power of people, unlike fiat currencies which print money out of thin air, devaluing the purchasing power of those who own fiat through inflation.

Bitcoin’s halving makes it scarce and inflation-resistant!

This is what the world NEEDS!

The Bitcoin Halving Watch was created to represent the importance of this and celebrate this moment. This specific 2024 halving watch will never be made again (“scarcity” aspect). New halving editions will be created and released only every 4 years.

Not only is this design completely new, but  it also features the Bitcoin logo in impeccable ways, such as the skeleton dial and the Bitcoin orange second hand.

This watch is also automatic/mechanical with a see through dial AND caseback - “Proof-of-work” 😉

Throughout the watch you’ll see amazing details such as the “BLOCK HEIGHT: 840,000” engraved on the case - this engraving marks the block at which the halving will take place - a historic block for Bitcoin to remember everywhere you go.

There are many other details and designs in the watch for you to discover yourself.

It is currently available for pre-orders to everyone! Those who pre order their watch within the next two weeks will secure their watch and get in line to receive them in April!

I hope you participate and purchase a watch, as we have worked hard to make this happen and introduce this very special and extremely limited timepiece. 👇🏽
