1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Coinxchange - Bitcoin exchange for the Philippines on: November 30, 2014, 07:07:18 AM
Dear Coinxchange customers and friends,

After a review of our business, Coinxchange has made the difficult decision to close, effective December 15, 2014. We wish to thank each of our customers and employees who supported the company since we processed our first transaction in March of this year. Unfortunately, the company wasn’t able to become profitable so we’ve decided to close the company to focus on other areas.

All customer funds and stored bitcoin are secure and can be withdrawn at any time.

Please take note of the following items:

  • Existing customer bitcoin balances can be sent to any other bitcoin wallet address at any time at no charge.
  • Existing customer Peso balances can be withdrawn to a supported bank account during business hours at no charge. Withdrawals to domestic remittance services may incur a fee as charged by the remittance service.
  • While withdrawals will continue until December 15th, 2014, no new bitcoin buy or sell orders will be accepted.
  • While your Coinxchange wallet will remain operational until December 15, please point external accounts like mining pools to a bitcoin address at another provider.
  • Customers with specific questions about their accounts can contact Coinxchange support using Coinxchange's internal messaging or by sending an email to support@coinxchange.ph.

We remain fans of bitcoin and hope for its eventual success in speeding transactions and lowering costs for consumers. My personal thanks go to those who have supported since the beginning of this amazing journey.

Hey guys, someone from this thread is reporting our posts and causing them to be deleted from this thread. We are just wondering why? Is there a problem? Could you kindly explain it to us so we don't make the same mistake? Thanks

Hi, I had the same issue with my Coinxchange announcement, way back.  I guess they wanted to keep announcement posts out of this group and restrict them to the Announcements section.  I personally have no problem with announcements here, since all of the services mentioned were located in the Philippines serving the Filipino market, but that's what I'm guessing happened.

God bless

Hi Bakal, happy we could solve your issue.

I have one of my staff people investigating whether we can support ucpb.  Thanks for the suggestion.

4  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pilipinas (Philippines) on: June 27, 2014, 03:50:22 AM
Bitwarrior, it's a one-way atm, meaning you can only buy bitcoin, not sell bitcoin.  It's the fastest way to buy bitcoin, since you can just feed peso into the machine and it sends to your external wallet.  But it's not the cheapest alternative.  For that you might want to check out one of the exchanges like coinxchange.ph or coins.ph.

I don't know what the limits are.  There's no user registration, so I guess it's not limited.

still i support coins.ph Smiley

That's fine, it's a good company and I know them well.  What aspect of their service do you find most appealing?
6  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pilipinas (Philippines) on: June 06, 2014, 06:52:50 PM
Can i ask you if you transfer to metrobank account and how fast is the transaction?

We have a Metrobank account so we can transfer via an electronic transaction.  During the day (8-5pm) it's usually processed within 60 minutes.  We do process on the weekends on an "as available" basis... meaning staff checks in from time to time and processes when something arrives.

+1 I support coins.ph but why is it people save money using coinxchange.ph?

Anonz, please save money at coinxchange.ph because we try to beat coins.ph pricing at every opportunity.  So you buy bitcoin cheaper and sell it for more money back to you.

Pricing is one aspect of competition, but we compete on many others as well, such as transaction speed and transparency. Coinxchange operates on a different process than Coins.ph.  Here's what I mean:

Selling at Coins.ph:
  • You send your bitcoin to an address at Coins.ph
  • You wait until they tell you what they sold your coins for. Hopefully it's during their business hours or you could wait longer. You also trust them not to cherry pick a price that's good for them and bad for you.
  • You wait a little longer for your deposit.

Selling at Coinxchange.ph:
  • You send your bitcoin to your personal address at Coinxchange.ph.
  • Once the transfer confirms, you enter a sell order and you see exactly the price you'll receive (no guessing or waiting).
  • The coins sell instantly and then you have PHP in your account that you can hold or withdraw to your local bank. We do electronic/online transfers to five different banks.

Overall the process at coinxchange.ph is faster and more transparent to you.  And of course, cheaper as well.

If you're on Facebook, Jonathan Ong just posted a review of Coinxchange: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cryptominersph/.  You may have to scroll down.  It's a busy group Smiley

http://www.coinxchange.ph is a leading bitcoin exchange in the Philippines (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563687.msg6145229#msg6145229).

We buy and sell bitcoin, and provide same-day deposit to local banks.  Dabs is a director in the exchange.  Please post in the Announce thread above if you have questions or PM me.
10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Program that converts a windows wallet to a mac one? on: May 10, 2014, 07:46:26 PM
If you're using the reference client Bitcoin Core, you can just copy the wallet.dat file from the Windows machine to the Mac machine.

Other clients, you may be able to import private keys.

Which client are you using?

Hi all

I am planning to visit the Philippines for around two weeks in mid June 2014, I will be heading to Cebu.  Does anyone know if there are any Bitcoin meetups, events or any type of activities I could attend, or even just a meeting.  Please PM me if your interested.

Many thanks

Jonny you may want to check out the Bitcoin PH group on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/bitcoinph/).  Meetups get posted there about once a month.  The May one just took place, but the June one has not yet been scheduled.
12  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pilipinas (Philippines) on: May 09, 2014, 05:08:54 PM
I think we have LandBank, PNB and Allied Bank here. Both LandBank and PNB seem ok to me.

I'll check with my staff to see if any of those banks have branches nearby.  thanks

Dabs, it seems that you are Director of coinxchange. Is that site fully operating already? Are there fees for withdrawal? How can I withdrawal? Only banks (which banks?) Or also methods like mlhuillier, cebuana, etc? Looks like it's really cheaper than BuyBitcoin.ph and also cheaper than the cheap remittance site I use right now, so I might use it.

Only 1% fees for buying / selling, which you can clearly see as you are buying / selling. Banks include:

BPI
BPIExpressOnline (using mobile app, or add it to your regular internet banking)
BDO
MetroBank
UnionBank

so far.

Yah, use the link in my sig so I can track you. Smiley (Actually, we both get 200 PHP worth of bitcoin; aside from being Director, I'm also just another user.)
Thanks. I did signup thru your link. Not sure if or when I will use it since these banks are not in my area Sad

NLNico, what bank or banks are close to you, or do you prefer?
14  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pilipinas (Philippines) on: May 08, 2014, 09:44:22 PM
Has anyone pursued an SEC license for money exchanging services and Bitcoin ATMs?

I have an attorney that's started the process, but still working through issues.
15  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: For C# Developers, article on NBitcoin on: May 06, 2014, 07:17:24 PM
I saw the article on CodeProject as well and downloaded your source.  Looks like a nice job.

I'm particularly interested in the BIP32 support. So once I get a chance to dig in a little deeper I think there's going to be a lot to explore.

I'm not sure if you've seen it already, but there's also another C# project that is in progress here: https://github.com/pmlyon/BitSharp.  It aims to be a "fully validating Bitcoin node".

The developer there is good... may want to peek it for ideas or find some basis for collaboration.

Great work!

If I understand what you're trying to, you're building a jobs board that employers will go to in order to hire freelancers in the Philippines.  Employers will pay in PH coin, is that right?

Well, I've hired freelancers in the Philippines and elsewhere.  To do that, I went to existing boards like elance.com where I could choose the best quality candidate from anywhere in the world.  I paid in USD through my PayPal account.

In your plan, I would only see job seekers in the Philippines, and I would have to exchange to some weird coin no one's heard of to do it?  You honestly think you're going to change the world?  That's delusional.

Now Philippine workers are excellent.  I know because I work with many of them.  More perhaps, than you.  But as an employer, unless I had some geographical reason why would I limit myself? Wouldn't I want to see the best candidates from anywhere?

And just how is paying with your coin a benefit to anyone, other than perhaps you?  It's certainly not to the employer, and certainly not to the freelancer, who will redeem it for PHP where, exactly? After all, they can't buy food or pay rent with PH Coin.

So maybe I've missed some magical, important point in your proposal.  While you're fixing the code, please also take the time to better describe your value proposition.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: May 05, 2014, 01:52:40 AM
There's a bug in the trading api where if you send the "key" and "sign" header-fields in lowercase, the server would erroneously reject it with "Invalid API key". This is a bug because according to rfc2068, first paragraph under section 4.2 Message Headers:

Quote
...Each header field consists of a name followed by a colon (":") and the field value. Field names are case-insensitive...

I noticed this problem when I was writing a query api using the luasockets+luasec library. This causes a problem because that library lower-cases the header field names prior to sending the POST request out.

Yes, field names should be case-insensitive, but your quote says nothing about field values.  Is what you're saying is that you passed in a value in an case insensitive way, and you think this is wrong?

I think they're fully operating already, I had a request over their customer support and they responded quickly. Haven't used them though, I use coins.ph because I prefer unionbank.

lumeire, you'll be happy to know that as last Friday, coinxchange.ph supports UnionBank for both deposits and withdrawals  Cheesy

What is the minimum amount for selling bitcoin and withdrawing to banks? Same day withdrawal in Saturday and Sunday?

Any reviews about this website?

Jinjuro, there's no minimal for withdrawing php to your bank account. We've handled very small transfers as well as larger ones.

We often do handle withdrawals on Sat or Sun, but we can't guarantee it.  All withdrawals are handled manually (even though we may use the bank's web site to process your transaction) and we don't have staff working every day.

However the way it usually works out is that we get your notification of withdrawal on a weekend, someone is available to do it, and they process  Grin.  Mon-Fri 8am-5pm we process within an hour.

Wow.  How messed up can you get?

If you're serious about this, take more than a couple days to sort this out. Doesn't seem that you're at all ready.
