2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XLM vs XRP - Which Is a Better Purchase For 2018? on: January 07, 2018, 02:50:44 PM
So everyone has been focused on the Bitcoin vs. Bitcoin Cash debate, yet there is another interesting rivalry in the cryptocurrency world that is starting to garner a lot of attention. While most people have heard of Ripple or XRP, many are just finding out about Stellar Lumens or XLM. After finding Ripple and leaving in a very public disagreement with the CEO he hired, Jed McCaleb has now started Stellar Lumens. Fixing some of the problems in Ripple, Stellar Lumens is a totally new code, however many people in the public space think the two are similar since they have the same founding owner. Just wanted to get everybody's insight on this rivalry. Keep it nice.

I myself have been interested in this topic as of late. I purchased XRP at a great price. Before the first big pump past 1$. Then I started hearing about XLM. From what I can tell they are both focused on transforming the banking industry and I am super excited about this move!!! I think the technology is going to really transform how the world uses and sends money.
There are differences and  I do NOT understand computer code at all. But from what I hear the codes are different. Also, they are both open source. So when one or the other comes up with something I'm sure it will be adapted to the competition's code. This makes it kind of hard to say who will come out on top though. I mean, they are both trying to change the same thing using the same technique right? So is it a race to see who gets more of the industry to join their "team"? (
The biggest difference that I can see it the fact that XLM is a not-for-profit company and XRP is definitely for profit. I am personally at a loss in this debate. Who's the better buy? Who's going to come out on top? And what differences am I not seeing?
In my opinion....because XRP was around longer and has more support I honestly think they will become the revolutionary change in this arm of the banking world. The question is will XLM be able to come in and make that "change" better? Kind of like Ethereum is doing to BitCoin (speed, price, domination, etc)?
The safe bet for me was to invest in both XRP and XLM because one of two things WILL happen.
1) Either one or the other will succeed and be a well-needed hit...
                     or
2) They will both succeed and either...
                       A) work side by side to change the industry
                                       or
                       B) become fierce competition (think McDonalds and Burger King).
In my eyes, it's a Win/Win Either way.... if we thought 2017 was the year for cryptocurrencies then 2018 is the year that cryptocurrencies start to change big business. GET IN NOW...IT'S NOT TO LATE!!!!!

                                                                                   Thoughts?
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin and Bitcoin forks on: January 07, 2018, 02:19:52 PM
Hello,

I'm a bit confused about the whole Bitcoin hard forks and up coming forks.

As i understand it Bitcoin got Segwit but few supports it, why? This was big news and what i thought was going to make Bitcoin better/faster. Sadly Bitcoin is the same as before all the forks. Lightning network and other updates can be implanted to Bitcoin but that is not available right now, so why not start with using Segwit?

I thought we were going to have 3 hard forks. Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold and Segwit 2x. I recently heard of Bitcoin Diamond, Bitcoin God. Anyone can create a coin but can anyone also give Bitcoin holder "free money"?

Yes, anyone can fork the Bitcoin chain and make a new coin (a.k.a. split). So, in short, yes, if you have Bitcoin at the moment of the fork, you can claim the altcoin coming out from the fork after that. But in order to do it you need to have full control of your private keys. Also, there could be some exchanges which do all the process automatically on their own.

This whole "forking" business has me a little confused. Not so much the why but more how do I claim the new "forked" coins. It is my understanding that I should get as many of the new coins as I have of the original BTC. What confuses me is...

A. Can I claim the new "forked" coin if I am using a Paper wallet (with private keys)?
B. How do I go about claiming the "forked" coin using my paper wallet?

I never really wanted to trust exchanges to keep my Crypto Currencies in their online wallets. It scares me. I feel more in control when I can log my computer off the internet, generate a key for a paper wallet, and send my coins from the exchange to the wallet. I do this as soon as I can. When I'm done trading the coin it goes to my paper wallet FAST. Call me crazy but I think it's the safest way to keep from getting hacked.
So, anyway.... Does anyone have any experience in claiming coins from a BitCoin Fork??? The sites I look at for the new coins created by the fork don't say anything about how to get said coins.

Thoughts???
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: January 07, 2018, 11:21:51 AM
The ripple technology will change the way the world transfers money. In my opinion, any tech that changes something that big is a sure-fire bet. It's just like investing into Microsoft back in the 90's, or BitCoin back in 2009 lol. XRP is going to go up. It's just starting to be used by banks. Once more banks start to use the tech the sky is the limit. I'm holding onto my XRP for a while. I want to see 100$ per coin before I even think of selling lol.

This idea sounds awesome. Bring this to the states and it will EXPLODE!!! I will be watching the progress of RetailCoins very closely.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to the crypto market after five years? on: January 07, 2018, 09:38:59 AM
In the next five year or less there will be a lot of underlying infrastructure changes to help decentralized the crypto market the more. Bitcoin price will surpass $100,000 because usage will outpace the price. Daily transaction volume will soar and more institutional adoption of crypto coins will take place.

Pretty sure Bitcoin will be forgotten. MAybe not gone but definitely forgotten. As with any new technology, the first is usually left behind by the second. Bitcoin is slow and there are many blockchains that are faster and more reliable. The coins representing these faster blockchains will be valued higher in my belief. Also, the bitcoin blockchain tech doesn't have too many real-world applications. Take XRP for instance. Ripple's blockchain (xrp) will change the way the world will transfer money. In five years it's going to be companies like that that will be at the top of the crypto market...In my opinion anyway...
