101  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What is a used Sapphire Vapor-X 5870 worth? on: June 27, 2011, 01:48:45 PM
I bought a referb for $90.00 CAD at a comp store and it mines at 200Mh/s OC'ed.

Only good thing is it has only one power connector on it so it works with a smaller PSU.

Thats not a 5870... your thinking a 5770.

and at this point in the mining game i would expect 90 US dollars spent to get 300 mh/s.
naturally MB/ram/cpu/psu/etc is not factored into that.

Sadly not in the great white north. Ironically our CAD is worth more than your USD to boot!

I just found a referb for $300.00 CAD. I'd love to try mining with this puppy but 300 is too steep!

what about if you load up GPU-Z first and then try guiminer?

Try -v -w256 -f60 (whats the point of having f higher than 60?)

How many watt power supply? (assuming no OC going on?)
104  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Just installed an ATI Card w/All Drivers. Doesn't show up in GUIMiner on: June 27, 2011, 03:13:34 AM
There is a walkthrough for ubuntu somewhere on the forum here and also linuxcoin. I haven't tried any yet but been thinking about it.
105  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Just installed an ATI Card w/All Drivers. Doesn't show up in GUIMiner on: June 26, 2011, 11:55:19 PM
Is there some chance that that card does not support OpenCL? Other than that, yeah Win7 with just the latest driver should be all you need to get that check mark for OPEN CL to show up. If you don't want to mess up your Windows install, you could try one of the Linux distros from a pen drive or CD boot etc.
106  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ 46 GH/s ] Ars Technica community mining pool, 0% fees! on: June 26, 2011, 11:48:51 PM
yeah GUI miner and nothing in the console log on either of them. Very odd. It's been fine all day, I guess we shall see tomorrow morning.

Did you try GPU-Z to make sure OPEN CL comes up as checked? If not you might have to redo things again....

I would get the drivers from the ADM site. ati.com gets you there.....

Hi

I had an issue overnight. This morning my miners on the site were showing as offline. Est. Earnings dropped ranking dropped etc. I went to check them, and they were running just fine. I checked the console for errors and nothing. I then restarted each of them and then everything went back to normal on the site. Any ideas what could have caused this and no logging as to what had happened?

Just find the sweetspot wherever that is without burning the thing up.

If your solo mining should you see the same "ADAF0E23 accepted" on the mining clients

I'm just seeing a hash rate ?

So did you find one?

Thanks for this post with all the hardware. Being out of the white box PC or boutique PCs for the last 10 years, it has been helpful for sure.

As far as using the new card with a slightly underpowered PSU, I'd try it, I just wouldn't try to OC it. Worst case the system just won't boot or it will shutdown after a while of mining. I don't see an underpowered PSU taking out all the other components unless there was some sort of surge which can happen with any PSU.

I don't think there is any advantage to overclock the mem. I would leave it the same or lower it anyway. OS shouldn't matter really, whatever is your personal preference is IMHO.  If you do switch to Windows there are reports of some having difficulties getting that 4th card to show up. What mobo are you using?
115  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Catalyst application crashed over RDP on: June 25, 2011, 05:08:09 AM
Yeah RDP really messes things up when it comes to mining. Stay away from it.

Wow our luck has really turned around! I can't believe what my measly 300Mh/s has been bringing in as of late. This is fun!

GRC's Spin Rite might help in getting the drive operational again. I'd slave it on another system.

That is if you don't want to recover files...

Incorrect. Spinrite will recover the data.

"SpinRite now brings its legendary data recovery and drive maintenance magic to the latest file systems, operating systems, and hard drives."

Check it out!
