I just purchased and installed an XFX HD 6750.  After installing the necessary drivers (which was an awful process) I restarted my computer and then fired up GUIMiner.  Previously, GUIMiner would tell me something about there not being any hardware capable of GPU mining using OpenCL.  I can't recall the exact message because at that time it didn't matter since I knew that didn't have a GPU.

Now when I fire up GUIMiner the message is gone, I can create an OpenCL miner but my GPU doesn't show up in the list of available devices.  What do I need to do to begin mining off of my GPU?  I've deleted the GUIMiner settings file and I've restarted my PC twice.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

--- EDIT ---

Also, this is a 32bit Windows XP machine with all of the Windows Updates.  Apparently some other users had to update from XP SP2 to SP3.  That's not the case with this PC.  Part of the headaches that I was having with the driver installation turned out to be issues with having Visual Studo 2008 on this computer.  I uninstalled everything that I had on this PC associated with Windows development and I was able to get the graphics card drivers to install.  Also, the drivers that I downloaded came from XFXForce.com and were the latest ones that they had available.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Did you try GPU-Z to make sure OPEN CL comes up as checked? If not you might have to redo things again....

I would get the drivers from the ADM site. ati.com gets you there.....

OK, I downloaded GPU-Z and Open CL is not checked.  I'll try to get newer drivers and AMD and see if that helps.

After downloading the drivers and running them OpenCL still isn't checked.  Any other ideas?

Reinstall guiminer

Unless there is a new version of GUIMiner out there (I downloaded it a couple weeks ago), there is a no installer.  You download a file, extract it and simply run the executable.

So do that but create a new directory.

Deleting the miner and unzipping it to a different location didn't help.  Any other ideas?

Is there some chance that that card does not support OpenCL? Other than that, yeah Win7 with just the latest driver should be all you need to get that check mark for OPEN CL to show up. If you don't want to mess up your Windows install, you could try one of the Linux distros from a pen drive or CD boot etc.

I think that's a pretty good option.  Are there any recommended linux distros for this type of thing or has someone created a special one for GPU mining?

Well, I've wasted a lot of time on this.  I hate to concede but... I'm just going to return the hardware and call it a weekend.

Thanks for all of your help guys.
