I have just started mining with Kano, but I am going to have to turn the miners off at night as they are just too loud...... Are you penalised at all by the Kano pool if you are not mining 24/7 (aside from the fact you’re not mining for 8 hours a day)?

No penalty...you just have lower hashrate factoring into your payouts.

Go to eBay and do a search for "antminer sound" and you will see some ideas of things you can easily build to soundproof your equipment. Looks like you only have a couple of machines to work with so it would be a breeze to do.

Thanks for the reply and the soundproofing is already in hand, just waiting for the stuff I need to be delivered!

Even with soundproofing, I put them in a separate room and soundproof the door (I need to get a heavier door ... )

Same here. Managed to reduce the noise from 84dB to 63dB but still buzz is too heavy overnight.

Has the network hashrate ever contracted?  Seems it expands and expands regardless of any other factors.

I believe, when bitcoin was created, difficulty rising was written into it by Satoshi. At that time though, in 2009, asic technology was yet to be invented. The huge difficulty we see today, reflects the use of that technology. Every time someone adds a brand new miner to the network, the difficulty will rise. Our only hope of contraction, is if the new form factors of asic technology, make the older ones obsolete.

It is the catch 22 of being in the world of BTC mining.

And we have two more days before the new two week algorithm difficulty rise. What I also noticed from kano's graph, mining was more successful while we had big drop in price of the BTC. Ether way mine on!

let us spend out money mining cryptocurrency however we want.

It's speculation rather than investment and according to El Reg, it's now called “funbux”. Just to bring a different perspective, I'm given to understand that the UK collectively spends £4bn a year on online gambling.

Who buys this garbage, and why?

Honestly, you have zero real-world adoption, you have some of the biggest snakes on the forum constantly shilling for it, trying to trick noobs into buying it like it were some sort of haphazard ponzi scheme, and the biggest bump you got is when Stephen Colbert made fun of it as an example of how crypto kids will buy anything.

Oooh you can stake it and get free Clams.... but only if you buy a shitload first.  Roll Eyes How retarded are people becoming?

This coin is the essence of a Ponzi scheme, people.

All you asses that just feed off the greed of others truly learned nothing about what crypto is supposed to be about: helping to reshape finance in favor of the general public.... NOT using it as an excuse to legally skirt crimes that would result in hard prison time if you were dealing in fiat.

Give me one reason to buy this coin. Other than because I can buy it on Cryptopia and sell it on Polo for a tidy 5% arb profit.

This message is just a friendly Public Service Announcement. Sincerely,

Uncle Nutildah

wow thanks dude, im almost buy more.. but now after reading your post i will dump all of my clams to your hands.

Now that the whales have successfully squeezed a bunch of Chinese newbs on OKEx, they need a way to drop the price again.

China bans Bitcoin? China bans OKEx?

OKex going to Malta

I actually have 2 running but I'm cautious to run the majority of the rest of mine primarily because it is the beginning of spring time here and I haven't found a viable solution to combat the massive pollen in the air right now. I understand that I'll obviously still make money if I continue to mine daily if BTC goes back up, its just I'd rather see where things go with the market before I put some time on the newer miners that I have.

How high is your electric rate?  I'm at 9.6 cents/kw and I'm still making money.  Can you not put in some Merv 3 filters to deal with the pollen without adding too much backpressure?

or buy this for each rig Wink

Maybe outdated but still some good overview.

Anytime you want to move in where I live let me know Wink or go to Venezuela Cheesy

And for the other thing I would suggest to buy another 5k rpm fan for the intake and box with filter. But since I think you have more than one you should check out solutions for bigger fan for whole storage and some filtering.
