"Beverly" had placed an order on our website cashtocrypto.com to buy bitcoin. After we noticed Beverly was 72 years old and was buying $5,000 worth of bitcoin for her first transaction, we immediately considered this transaction to be suspicious. We have dealt with "man in the middle scams" (MIMS) in the past and are familiar with how these scams work. The scammer places an order to buy bitcoin, while instructing an elderly person to go make a deposit into the bank account that accepts cash deposits for bitcoin. The elderly person believes they are making a purchase for something else such as a car, to pay lottery taxes, etc. Then the scammer gets the proof of payment from the depositor and sends it to the bitcoin company. The bitcoin company is able to confirm the payment and then sends the bitcoin.

In this scenario after Beverly was notified of the issue we were having with her order, we received a call from someone with a foreign accent, who could not even verify Beverly`s date of birth and could barely speak English. You would think Beverly would be able to know her own date of birth right?

This scammer conned Beverly from Wyoming into making a deposit to one of our accounts. We spoke to Beverly on the phone, who said she was speaking to someone overseas who instructed her to make the deposit to our account. This person, who is the scammer in this scenario originally contacted Beverly through facebook. Beverly stated to us that she had never met this person or and has never spoken on the phone to him. They have only been communicating over text. Beverly believes that she is supposed to receive a physical coin called a Libertyx pin in the mail shipped to her address, and she has no idea why.

Long story short Beverly got catfished and lost $5,000. We are working to refund her as we speak.

We have now reduced our processing time to 2 hours!

PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THIS IS A SCAM!

Below is what was posted on 01/28/2015, on the second page of this thread. We advertise this thread on the blog section of cashtocrypto.com. and offer a promotional code for our customers if they leave a review of our service. Many of our users are first time buyers or simply do not have an account on Bitcointalk. Many times these customers of ours will create an account and leave an honest review to receive the promotion. This not only helps the Bitcoin community who would like to test out our service, but it helps us promote our site on the forums.

The reason why you see so many newbie reviews is because we reward our customers who leave a review of our service with a promo code to waive the 2% processing fee on their next order. Many of these users don`t have an account on Bitcointalk already so they create one for this purpose. Also, you can also try our service using just $20, which is our minimum purchase amount."

I also don`t see anyone posting on this thread saying that they have been scammed or never received their bitcoin hmm.....

Orders will be processed by our system and shown as completed but you have to understand that the transaction still has to process on the blockchain from our wallet to your wallet. Usually wallet providers require 3-6 confirmations before your bitcoins will be deposited and shown in your balance. With that being said, it can take up to an hour for the transaction to be completed. Sometimes confirmations are slower and it can take longer than that.

We are working on that page, but basically it will show our reviews and feedback on Localbitcoins.

The majority of buyers on our site are first time Bitcoin buyers, which means they are also probably new to the forums. With this being said most of the reviews being left on our thread are going to come from new accounts.

We do not accept wires because we have found out recently wires can be reversed in some scenarios.
