1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI 1080Ti Hash Crash on: April 06, 2018, 05:49:06 PM
Which drivers do you have installed specifically? May give us an idea of the problem/conflict.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What happened to GPU mining (late March 2018)? on: March 27, 2018, 09:39:07 PM
The whole market is down. I'm mining with 570s currently and the difficulty + price has been a nightmare. Not sure mining is dead though, just hopefully in a rut.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SRBMiner Cryptonight AMD GPU Miner V1.0 on: March 22, 2018, 08:03:11 PM
Very cool. Always good to see new mining software being developed.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Should I buy a new gaming PC to also mine? on: March 21, 2018, 06:51:52 PM
It's fine to have a dual machine, but a couple things to understand:

To get the most out of your GPU, you will need to BIOS mod it, and potentially use different drivers, plus overclocking it for mining. All of these things are not really something you can do while also using that GPU for gaming, at least I wouldnt recommend it.

If you are fine not having an optimized card, just keep in mind you will drastically reduce the lifespan of the card, and may see some issues while gaming. Heat may also quickly become an issue in a standard closed gaming case.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining will die in 2018! on: March 12, 2018, 08:51:47 PM
New coins/tokens are being created just as quickly as those switching to PoS or ASIC. I'm not sure if coins in the top 10 will be viable for GPU mining, but there will always be something to point your rig at.

CPU mining is another matter though. I wonder what percentage of it is used by botnets.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I just started mining HADRON in Chrome and Firefox with no performance issues on: March 09, 2018, 11:19:10 PM
I like the idea, but I don't like the "social proof" aspect. Feel like it's forcing me to post on social and whatnot to participate.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig from GTX 1050 TI on: March 06, 2018, 09:33:31 PM
You should be fine to mine something like Cryptonote for a while, but with only 4GB of memory stuff like Ethereum is out of the question.

As far as I've researched though the 1050s are not super great for mining overall.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SHOW ME YOUR RACK! Miner Porn Thread on: March 06, 2018, 01:06:01 AM

This is honestly super nice for an at-home setup. Very clean and well setup.

Using KYC as sales data is extremely illegal. If you see that, report it immediately.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why do you small timers even bother? on: February 27, 2018, 06:53:39 PM
You can either look at mining as a hobby or a source of income as the primary driver.

I think even for a dollar or so a day it's a pretty fun hobby to mess around with, learn more about hardware, tech, and the crypto space in general.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: rig fan cooling management on: February 26, 2018, 05:25:43 PM
Box fan, cheap, easy to replace, lot's of airflow and more effective than messing with a bunch of small fans that don't do as good of a job at dissipating heat from around the rig.

Out of curiosity, how much power do those two fans pull?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is the most profitable coin for mining? on: February 23, 2018, 09:53:33 PM
Impossible question to answer.

Depends entirely on your hardware, and it can change daily based on difficulty and market price.

As others have said, look up your hardware online and compare hashrates with different coins.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building up a new rig on: February 22, 2018, 09:25:06 PM
I would be careful as well with which risers + power adapters you are using, as the Vegas pull a lot of juice.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Easy mineable coins - 2018 ? on: February 21, 2018, 05:38:25 PM
Depends what you mean.

Low difficulty and ease of mining doesn't mean higher profitability.

For example, Bytecoin is super easy to mine, but I would be hesitant to choose it over something more "difficult" like Monero.

For pure CPU mining I would look at cryptonote coins specifically.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashing rate for GTX 1050? on: February 19, 2018, 10:50:06 PM
If you're getting it to game with primarily, it could earn a few dollars on the side.

However, from the research I've done the ROI isn't really there for a 1050, from a pure mining perspective.
16  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Time to move from Electrum on: January 25, 2018, 10:38:09 AM
Always thought Electrum was a popular choice and it actually is for many people.
So I think they'll resolve their issues, it's been around for so long.

Core seems to be the best way to go If you don't mind running a full node.
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling top at $16500 (NEW 17th Jan: $4,100 bottom called) on: January 25, 2018, 10:30:22 AM
$4,100 bottom?  Huh

I hope it never happens, seems like yesterday BTC was at 3K and thinking of less than 9K today takes me some time to get used to

What a horrible thought to have  Grin
18  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Is Ledger Nano S REALLY SAFE ?? Best Hardware Wallet ? on: January 25, 2018, 10:22:22 AM
Just generate address/private key pairs and keep them safe.

Hardware wallets are probably best for new comers, they are handy and they are compatible with many tokens.

For people that can generate and manage their own addresses safely maybe there's no need for a hardware wallet.
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we ever see 20k+ again? on: January 25, 2018, 09:58:12 AM
A new dip is expected on Jan 26th. (more information https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHGVJhimEZ8) I think this dip will give the market the momentum it needs to break through again and possibly reach 20k 'shortly'

Interesting point of view, skeptical of predictions but it could go either way.

Be nice to see 20K or over hitting soon, it will generate some nice momentum.
