22  Bitcoin / Armory / Maximum number of addresses in wallet on: April 15, 2016, 03:53:26 PM
Is there a maximum number of addresses that can be used in a single wallet?
23  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.94 Windows Hangs at Initializing Bitcoin Engine on: March 30, 2016, 03:54:37 AM
Yes, v0.94.0.1 solves this problem.
Thank you
24  Bitcoin / Armory / Armory 0.94 Windows Hangs at Initializing Bitcoin Engine on: March 28, 2016, 06:35:04 AM
Windows 7 64bit

Actions:
uninstalled 0.93.3
installed 0.94 ; using https://github.com/goatpig/BitcoinArmory/releases/tag/v0.94.0
reboot
started 0.94

problem:
Hangs at Initializing Bitcoin Engine 99% 3 blocks
I tried multiple time starting. It started with 1, then 2, and now 3 blocks. A different value each start.
No change seen in databases-folder

BitcoinCore is running
verified using  bitcoin-cli getblockcount

Also:
Armory starts BitcoinCore, but it will not stop BitcoinCore

uninstalled 0.94
installed 0.93.3

0.93.3 is running fine like before the 0.94-install, without the here mentioned problems

27  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Failed import of private key on: March 05, 2016, 04:24:21 AM
I have run into the same problem trying to import private keys from Multibit and Blockchain.info

Other topics:
http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/24632/import-private-keys-from-multibit-into-armory
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=680355.0

"Private keys associated with compressed public keys are 52 characters and start with a capital L or K."

The ones from Multibit that fail start with an L or K.
The single one from Multibit that succeeds starts with a 5 and is probably the oldest address I have.
The ones from Blockchain.info all fail and don't start with a L or K or 5.

I could use the software from https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.org to convert the compressed private key to an uncompressed one, but that would render my funds unusable. An uncompressed private key has an uncompressed public address. My funds are at the compressed public address. On the uncompressed address my funds are zero: I tested this by importing the uncompressed private key in Armory and waited for the scan to complete.
Importing the hex-version of the private address reveals yet another public address. Could be an error from bitaddress.org ?  Undecided

P.S.: There is some sort of a memory-problem in Armory: Almost all of 16GB physical memory was being taken after the rescan. Returned to normal after shutting down Armory. Another private key import gave the same problem again.

When I enter the private keys from Blockchain.info in the bitaddress.org-software I get an error saying it is not a valid private key.

I was under the impression that the combination "public address / private key" was universal in Bitcoinland. That the same keys could be used in all clients. This is not the case however.  Sad

I could transfer the funds to a new address generated in Armory. However, there is a possibility that Bitcoins will still be send to the old addresses.

Will Armory be able to import compressed private keys in the new version?
28  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory hangs at Organizing Blockchain on: March 02, 2016, 12:41:30 PM
To my surprise it seems to be working now.
Great.
Thanks everyone for the comments.

124GB for both BitcoinCore and Armory.
I hope some future version has a solution for this double blockchain-size.
29  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory hangs at Organizing Blockchain on: March 01, 2016, 11:36:47 PM
Just started from scratch again.
First uninstalling Armory and BitcoinCore, including data-folders of Core and Armory.
installed BitcoinCore 0.12.0
installed Armory
started Armory
This is going to take a while again, downloading the blockchain
 Undecided
30  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory hangs at Organizing Blockchain on: March 01, 2016, 09:31:08 PM
The first time I tried Armory I already had a fully downloaded blockchain I copied from my Linux-box (Bitcoin Core 0.11.1).
I got an error in Armory: Bad Allocation

I then started from scratch.
First uninstalling Armory and BitcoinCore, including data-folders of Core and Armory.
I installed BitcoinCore 0.11.1
Waited untill the blockchain was fully loaded.
Then installed Armory.
And then I posted this topic.

The first blockchain I useds works flawless, including the rescan-option (after insterting a new private key).
Again a corrupted blockchain? Two times a corrupted blockchain with the latest one being fresh?
BitcoinCore works just fine.

I just uninstalled Armory again, also deleting the data-folder. This includes the Armory-database, right?
Started Armory.
No change in the folders except for the changes just after first starting Armory.

I also tried to start Core first and then Armory (after changing the necessary setting for that).

Still the same result
31  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: hangs at Organizing Blockchain on: March 01, 2016, 08:51:11 PM
Just gave it up and quitted Armory.

Uninstalled Bitcoin Core 0.11.1 64bit
Installed Bitcoin Core 0.12.0 64bit

Same result after starting Armory, but will wait for a while.

Does anybody have a clue on what is going on?
 Huh

Anybody already read about the BlackArrow Compensation for X1/X3 customers ? : Prospero X36

http://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/index.php?dispatch=news.list
23-12-2015: http://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/compensation-available.html

--------------------------------

Black Arrow is happy to announce that has finished the design and testing for our latest miner: Prospero X36

Features:

many times cheaper to manufacture than X3
based on the 28nm Minion ASIC
30-40% less power (around 0.6-0.7W/Ghash at the wall)
    3x smaller than X3
    3x lighter than X3
    10-20% faster than X3
boots in less than 1 second
    more stable
    external PSU

Drawbacks:

    Louder than X3
    No LCD
    No GUI
Designed with cost in mind therefore it is not very beautiful

Compensation for X1/X3 customers:

With the availability of this new miner we can start providing the promised compensation to most of our X3/X1 customers.

Unfortunately our current financial situation prevents us from building new miners free of charge therefore we cannot offer these miners for free. For this reason we are offering to almost all our X1/X3 customers more hashing power than we have promised initially but they must pay the manufacturing costs for the miners and we will offer the ASICs for free.

Our offer is to build X36 (2.2Thash) for each 1 Thash we have promised in compensation if the customer is paying the manufacturing cost of the miner.

Manufacturing cost to build a miner with 36 chips is 2500 RMB (US$390). They also require 2 x PSUs which cost 200RMB each (2 x US$31). As specified above this cost does not include ASICs cost which is paid by us for almost all customers to which we have promised compensation. Prospero X36 reaches 2.2 to 2.4 Thash at 0.6-0.7W/Ghash at the wall.

We will not be shipping this miner out of China. For foreign customers, in order to use this miner we will be hosting it in our data centre. The customer will have no configuration rights and we will mine towards the pool that we choose. At the moment it costs 19.21 RMB/day of hosting for 2.2 Thash. We will send to the customer periodically (around once or twice per month) the revenue in Bitcoins that remains after we pay the hosting fee. This fee includes maintenance of any failed miners so the customers does not need to worry about repairs. After the first 3 months (which are the warranty period we offer for these miners), we will charge a maintenance fee which is calculated by dividing the repair cost of failed miners between miner owners and their share.

Customers who wish to proceed with this compensation are invited to place the order on our website. In order to benefit of the free ASICs offer, please use the same email address that you have used to place your order for X3/X1 and write in the notes their order number for X3/X1 and the compensation expected.

This is not a preorder, the miners are in stock and will beging hashing within 2 working days.

Please note that at the moment these miners cannot be shipped out of China for these reasons:

High domestic power fees makes it unprofitable to host the miner at home.
The 5000 RPM fan generates loud noise which makes it unbearable to host it at home.
We cannot provide warranty due to high shipping costs and customs fees.
    They require a CE/FC certification.

However, if you still want to have the miner at home or your own datacentre, please let us know. If there are enough customers to make CE/FC certification worthwhile, we will get it and ship the miners.

Legal notes:

The compensation is being provided by Black Arrow voluntarily as a dedication to our loyal customers.  We are not obliged by our current or previous contract to provide it and we can withdraw this offer at any time, as we see fit, without a reason or any explanation.
All orders are final, no refunds will be issued after we have sent the first mined coins to the customer.
The hosting is provided by a 3rd party and they (not us) will be responsible of safekeeping of your miner.
Power outages can happen from time to time and no compensation can be provided for it.
This offer is not available to few customers that will be announced in private should they place the order with us.
Our standard terms and conditions apply.

--------------------------------

Total costs for me (X3): US$ 894
Hosting: US$ 3,- /day

https://alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator :
difficulty: 93448670796
-> BTC 0.01237776 BTC /day = US$ 5,14
after next difficultychange: BTC 0.00973987 = US$ 4,05

US$ 8,10 (2 units) – US$ 6 (hosting) = US$ 2,10 profit /day
US$ 894 (2 units) / US$ 2,10 (profit/day) = break-even: 426 days = 61 weeks = 14,2 months
(if the next difficultychange and BTC-value remains)

calculation edited:
a unit costs more: 2 psu's needed for each unit
1 unit + 2 psu's = US$ 452
however: http://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/x36.html : US$ 447

I'm pretty sure the RPI has a strict USB management and won't allow more than 500mA/port.

I have one stick running on a Raspberry Pi 2.
I have not changed the voltage-setting yet, and it is running at 150MHz. I have no idea of how much current runs through the USB-port.

I have changed the powersetting on the RPI:

What frequency are you running at? At 150 I can hold heatsink without cooling.

150

It's running at about 8.35 Gh/s
40  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: November 28, 2015, 11:12:36 PM
What if the Stickminer gets too hot?
Will it just generate errors?
Or is it more likely to burn up?

At 150 you should be ok even just air cooled. Extra cooling is recommended for 150+.

Not sure what happens if they get too hot as I've kept mine cool since overclocking.

I would assume they give HW errors then go 'zombie' if there are too many.

Dont think there's much risk of them burning up unless you go silly.

Not sure if there's ever been a proper burn in / up test done.

Ok, thanks
It is running so hot I can't even touch the heatsink without getting burned.
I haven't seen CGMiner generate HW-error's though.
