1  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Can you still get scammed via clearcoin? on: June 09, 2011, 12:14:44 AM
So that means there is NO SECURITY in Clearcoin escrow at all for the person sending cash via Western Union, because the seller of bc's could collect the cash and collect the Bc's back later from Clearcoin when escrow expires! nothing the sender of cash could do about it?

thats terrible!

If that was true why would anyone ever select "Go to a charity"? All would select "come back to me" no?

I think I must be misunderstanding something important!

Yes, but there is a also a release to charity option.  The problem with that option is it hurts the seller if the buyer doesn't come through.

Thanks for replying Smiley

how does that work? from the text from the cc site it says the bc's would go back to the sender if sender did not relase, no?

Hi

Can someone help with understanding the terms on clearcoin please. Am I correct to think that the sender of the bc's can pay bc's into CC to create Escrow, then receive the payment (via Western Union for example)  and then just refuse to release the coins and dissapear?
Then at the end of the Escrow period, receive the coins back from Clearcoin?

This is the text from the Clearcoin site copied;

"The coins in this transaction will either be sent to the designated bitcoin address or, if the sender does not release the coins before the expiration date, refunded to the sender.

Funds will be automatically released on 16 June, 2011 unless they are held."

This does not seem to fit my understanding of escrow payments, can someone explain if i am wrong? Can the receiver receive nothing and the bc's go back to the sender who then has the cash and the coins? boo!

Thanks!

someone has put coins in escrow at clearcoin for me, but i cant see them, i feel for the guy, cant be nice

Ive used escrow a few times so i'm familiar with the process, but with CC it seems as though the person depositing the bitcoins can lose them to charity if the person (buyer) on the other side does not come up with the money, that cant be right, can it?

perhaps the Clearcoin owner can come on here and make a comment to calm us all down?

its very interesting for me that you guys are talking about 2 very very good forms of money, silver and btc's, both of which are going up in value when measured against fiat money (and pretty much everything else when you think of it) but you want to measure the value of each of the good forms of money against the value of the depreciating paper currency (which is not money)

I'm not saying that you are wrong to do so, just that it is interesting. ONe day i hope to see the paper toilet paper currency replaced in peoples minds as the true measure of value by something that holds its value against this falling paper, it would make sense wouldn't it?

it is hard for us to not value silver, gold or bc's like that, what else can you do?

my prediction is that one day your ounce of silver will be worth more than all the paper & digital dollars in the whole world. (not a difficult prediction) lets hope the bc's can make it that far too, might not have very long to wait to find out!

Hi

Im getting this same error when click on Settings > Your receving address in the top menu

it also asks " Do you want to stop the program?"

and "You can also choose Cancel to suppress further warnings"

I am cliking on "No" which then shows me my address book.

Any ideas on what is wrong? perhaps it is something to do with me being a newbie and not yet having any btc's in my wallet and only one address?

thanks for any help you can give Smiley

Hi nielDLR

I think he was suggesting that you try to sell them on sedo.com, you might get something for them there

in my opinion you are aksing way too much for those domains, they are not that great and there are always alternatives

try sedo, good luck Smiley
