121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trades processing at the wrong rates at TradeHill on: June 11, 2011, 04:26:43 PM
It's interesting when I saw those trades yesterday I was thinking "Man someone got a great deal buying at $8 when the market price is $22+"
It's great to see that Tradehill found and is able to solve this problem quickly.  I just signed up for an account with Tradehill a few days ago, made quite a few trades, and so far it's been excellent.  Keep up the good work!

Bump, Amazon canceled all the backorders of the Sapphire 6990s

You can always hedge by selling a percentage of your holdings.  If it goes down, buy back in!
124  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I did it on: June 10, 2011, 07:53:46 AM
they want you to spend more money and buy the 6970
125  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BTCs for 1 Ghps? on: June 10, 2011, 03:40:14 AM
go here:

Put your numbers in.  You can change the difficulty factor and take guesses at the exchange rate.
1 month numbers are not accurate since the difficulty would have adjusted a few times in 30 days.
126  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Sapphire 5850's gone for good... on: June 10, 2011, 03:01:42 AM
Hashing power will plateau, especially when ATI is having problems keeping up with demand.  When the 5830/5850 are gone, people will look to higher end cards that are still in stock like the 6950 and 6970.  It will just get more and more expensive to get into mining and expand the farm if the decent video cards are out of stock.  (One will need to spend more $ to get 1 Mhash than before)

This might be a good thing, slow down the hashing power, for a chance to catch some breath.
127  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Trying to figure more or less cards? on: June 10, 2011, 01:54:49 AM
Even with extender cables, I would like to see you fit 8 cards on that thing without having the motherboard melt
128  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Trying to figure more or less cards? on: June 10, 2011, 01:41:26 AM
ok let us know how that works out, are you a troll?
129  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Trying to figure more or less cards? on: June 10, 2011, 01:32:15 AM
go look at this chart:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

Add up the Mhashes add the other equipment like motherboard, memory, power supply, see what fits your budget.
Check to see if the cards are in stock first
130  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best Bang for the buck mining rig, please recommend parts on: June 10, 2011, 12:02:10 AM
a few weeks dated but it's a good start:

The recommended video cards are hard to find now
131  Bitcoin / Mining / When are 6990s coming back in stock? *UPDATE* Amazon canceled backorders of Sapp on: June 09, 2011, 11:58:39 PM
Anyone know when retailers are getting these back in stock?  I placed an order on Amazon a few weeks ago (Sapphire), and the estimate is June 20 to July 7th.  I noticed at the time, new orders were given an estimate of "1 to 2 months" and currently that has been changed to "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."
So have you checked back with your retailer lately to see when these are coming back?

UPDATE June 10th:
Amazon canceled all my backordered Sapphire 6990s.  Here's their email:

"Hello,

Due to a lack of availability from our suppliers, we will not be able to obtain the following item(s) from your order:

   "Sapphire Radeon HD 6990 4GB DDR5 DVI-I/QUAD MINI DP PCI-Express Graphics Card 100310SR"
  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004R1Q4VW

We've cancelled the item(s) and apologize for the inconvenience."

If you don't blow up your laptop, you will probably greatly reduce the laptop's life due to heat

senators can't even distinguish the difference between bitcoin and silk road
134  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyone want to predict the next cards to go out of stock? on: June 09, 2011, 05:38:25 PM
So they really didn't have any stock to begin with, or they sold 449 cards in less than 24 hours
135  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyone want to predict the next cards to go out of stock? on: June 09, 2011, 04:17:29 PM
nextdaypc stock still stuck at 449, anyone put an order in?
136  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Anyone want to predict the next cards to go out of stock? on: June 09, 2011, 06:58:13 AM
I am not sure that stock number is accurate, especially since you said the number hasn't gone down since you told everyone about it.
Maybe someone can order a bunch and report back.

Here's a review recently from resellerratings about the accuracy of stock numbers:

"posted May-31-2011

Absolute WORST Company. Parts were not on stock even though the website said 30 available, and continue to say 30 available. Customer service reps were rude..."

I'm talking about the major US retailers: Amazon, Newegg, etc...
Sapphire 5830s are all gone.
138  Bitcoin / Mining / Anyone want to predict the next cards to go out of stock? on: June 09, 2011, 06:37:56 AM
5830s are out at the major retailers, I think the next to go soon is the 6950s followed by the 6970s.  6990s will be coming back in stock in a few weeks, but they will probably be swooped up very quickly.  If you're out of plugs in your house, maybe you can go into the video card hoarding/resell business after all the good cards dry up? Tongue
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hiatus? on: June 08, 2011, 10:16:19 PM
Gotta check up on the status of the rigs.  Can't let a computer sit idle due to power failure, computer crash, tripping circuit breaker, etc..
140  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Hardware Comparision done in Excel on: June 08, 2011, 09:29:00 PM
I made the document your looking for but I'm not handing that info out for free.

Once I did that, all the 5830's sold out across the board in 1 week.
Now I'm S.O.L.

I think that's a total coincidence.  The 5830 has been recommended in the Wiki Mining Rig page for weeks:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_rig

It's also the cheapest card to buy to get into the game with little investment.  I think that's the reason why it sold out, not because of your chart.
