41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Twitter, ETF, BTC for $ 100,000 (must Read) on: April 01, 2018, 06:56:50 PM

The other day, Twitter confirmed the ban on advertising сrypto-currency. This rumor went for a week or so, but now it's officially out. They put a ban on advertising about the crypto currency and we on the reaction of the market see a recession. But why no one pays attention to the application - the SEC allows Bitcoin exchange funds, on the recommendation of the CBOE.

This news is far more important than some kind of twitter ban. CBOE wrote a letter to the commission, President Chris Concannon indicates in the letter that the market is already ready for ETF, that it is large enough and quite liquid for ETF. This is great news. If we get ETF this year, we will see the price of bitcoin and the rest of the crypto-currency absolutely vertical ($ 100,000 for BTC - it will become a regular reality).

The fact that the CBOE has enough strength and supporters of bitcoin makes us believe that this year we will still get permission for ETF.

Institutions begin to create the conditions under which they can enter their capital on the market and we see evidence: take, for example, the US bank

Goldman Sachs, as well as the South Korean multi-million dollar conglomerate, which enters the crypto-currency market. All of them enter into partnerships with stock exchanges. Okcoin, which is the 3rd largest exchange, concludes a partnership with the UK conglomerate, which is deeply involved in the work of the state. Yahoo Japan is going to launch the stock exchange in 2019 - it's a huge company in Japan.
South Korean investors are buying Bitstamp for 400 million dollars. Subsidiary of Canadian operators of exchanges are going to open a brokerage service for the сrypto-currency.
Everything described above is going to create a second "boom", an infrastructure that will allow the money of institutions to enter the market.

Any opinion guys ?

43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / International Crypto Associations to Sue Big Tech Over Crypto Ad Bans on: March 29, 2018, 09:15:47 AM
Cryptocurrency associations in China, Russia, and South Korea are all set to file a joint lawsuit this upcoming spring in the wake of the implementation of a wide-scale ban on cryptocurrency advertisements.

The lawsuit is to be filed against Facebook, Google, Yandex (popular Russian search engine much like Google), and the most recent in the fight to ban crypto advertising: Twitter.

44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Wow...Ether is basically at November's prices.. on: March 29, 2018, 08:00:18 AM
Wow...Ether is basically at November's prices...do you think we will dip under 400 usd? At the same time, a lot of Ether based alts are actually holding their ground. Now THIS, I don't think I have seen before.

Usually, these alts follow the general market trend and/or BTC but even during the times BTC was relatively stagnant, if Ether went down, they followed the trend.

So what can be the explanation for what's happening now? Thoughts? Huh Huh
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: China can lift the ban on crypto-currencies and ICO on: March 29, 2018, 07:41:51 AM
This is quite good news coming from China. I still feel like they cannot lift ban on icos as china is ruled by harsh bureaucracy (AKA Communist Party) They may only start to regulate harder but with less harsh ban.

I'll be happy to have them back to give this market a shot in the hand

46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / China can lift the ban on crypto-currencies and ICO on: March 28, 2018, 03:48:22 PM

There are reshuffles in the main bank of China. Now the post of director was taken by E Gang, a man who always openly supported crypto-currencies.
For 15 years the Central Bank of China was headed by Zhou Xiaochuan. Under his leadership since mid-2017 a ban on operations with the crypto currency and the conduct of the ICO has begun. More than 90% of ICO projects were forced to return investors their investments. This has become almost a disaster for programmers and entrepreneurs. In February 2018 the regulator prohibited companies the trading on foreign crypto-exchanges.
E Ganges, on the contrary, promises to carry out a number of reforms in the industry that will influence the development of the crypto currency in China. He refused to disclose the details.
In this connection investors are waiting for the improvement of the situation in the country and around the world.

48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / So how do you go about doing your own DD on ICOs? on: March 25, 2018, 11:37:04 PM
I hope we can share and learn from one another so we get better at avoiding scammy and lousy ICOs, and finding the gems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How I go about doing DD:
1. Read the whitepaper (of course!). I make sure that I get a rough understanding of what they are trying to do, most importantly making sure their project solves a real world problem. I question their proposal, if it is something that needs a blockchain.

2. Team composition - a project with good tech but without someone good in business is no-go for me.

3. Skillset - Things I look at when I am on the team's LinkedIn (is it a newly created account? What is their history, and most importantly how many people acknowledged their listed skillsets?) What about the member in charge of business? What are his record in managing businesses like?

4. Achievements/patents - I will Google as much as I can about their achievements if any. It will be very nice if the team already has patents.

5. Shillings - I look out for potential paid shills. Shill posts on Reddit (by newly created accounts). I tend to avoid new projects shilled by Suppoman because I know he's paid to shill.

6. Communication - How is their telegram channel being moderated? Do they ban people who asks questions? Are they actively responding to questions about their projects?

7. Words used - When a project has words like "moon" on their website or roadmap, then it is definite no-go. It is just trying to get moonbois on board.

8. Hardcap - projects with very high hardcap (30 million is my threshold) is a red flag to me. Potential cash grab.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

What about you guys? Smiley
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Traffic on Bitcoin exchange sites has fallen by half. What does that mean? on: March 24, 2018, 08:59:38 PM
The disappointing performance of the crypto markets in January and February apparently made many Bitcoin traders avoid shaking their eyes with their exchange balances. Estimates show that trafficking on bitcoin trading sites, based on traffic statistics, shows a steep decline from one month to the next.

Site visits have taken it down

The total number of visits to big bitcoin sites and cryptocurrency exchanges collapsed in February. Generally, if we look at the top ten top exchanges, site traffic appears to have peaked in December 2017 and early January 2018. It fell to half in February, reaching an approximately equal or lower figure for November, for each site.

According to Similarweb, the market research service, the total number of visits to the Coinbase site fell 49 percent in February, from 123.5 million to 63.1 million. Maxim reached them in December last year, with 169.5 million.

https://www.similarweb.com/website/coinbase.com

Kraken also saw a substantial 56% decline from 31.7 million in January to 13.8 million in February.

https://www.similarweb.com/website/kraken.com#overview

Binance declined 54% from a peak of 191.5 million to just 87.3 million.

https://www.similarweb.com/website/binance.com#overview

Bitfinex dropped 48% in February, only 18.3 million visits, compared with 35.4 million in January and 59.3 million in December.

https://www.similarweb.com/website/bitfinex.com

The number of bitcoin transactions has decreased

The factor that caused these decreases in the number of visits is quite obvious. Poor performance in all major cryptocurrency in the first two months of 2018. In addition, massive rallying in 2017 has probably brought a record number of new investors to the ecosystem at the end of last year. A fairly high standard was set, which was hard to reach in the months to come.

Web traffic data seems to corroborate the assumption that a similar decrease can be seen in the number of transactions. Until the end of February, we had just under 200,000 bitcoin transactions a day on average, compared with almost half a million bitcoin transactions sent daily in mid-December. The bulk of the glass is that a less crowded market is finally able to lower commission costs.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Market has returned or not? on: March 22, 2018, 08:44:25 PM
Regular correction is on the market # BTC, the expected bottom of this pulse is 7800.

For those who plan to purchase we recommend you bathe in batches starting from the price of 8300 and below, since the probability of descent to the level of 7800 is not very high.

Then we expect lateral movement, as well as a smooth growth, which will positively affect the market of alcoins.

For those who look forward to entering the market at this stage, it is most profitable to collect a long-term portfolio, buy up currencies at the bottom and enjoy their growth.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: G20 Summit can make a trend reversal? on: March 19, 2018, 06:30:05 PM
As predicted due to the good news in relation to regulation of bitcoin and cryptos at the G20 summit we will see bull runs now. If you sold out on the way down today is a great last chance to buy back in before the rebound. With the big whales content and large financial bodies not pushing for regulation of crypto you will see new winds within our sails. Buy/Mine/Hodl the market is taking a bull run. (Just my opinion)

55  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tools and Terms for Beginners in Crypto Trading on: March 16, 2018, 07:10:00 PM
I think you should correct the following

  • Public key: public key in the crypto currency jargge means wallet  wallet address
  • Private key:the key used to access a wallet a secret number that allows cryptocurrency to be spent

And that secret thing used to access the wallet is the password. Wink

Also,
Quote
Miner - device validating blockchain transactions
It's also a person who mines cryptocurrency.
Quote
Mnemonic Phrase - a fancy version of the private key
Not that fancy, it's being used by most wallets nowadays as the "seed".
Quote
Polo - Polo Exchange
Poloniex exchange.

I don't see this list as a piece of information for newbies. If I were a newbie, I wouldn't understand most of these terms. You did a good job by trying to explain abbreviations, but most of these terms are still too complicated for beginners. For instance you explained
Quote
Long - buying a coin with the expectation that it will increase in value
which is nice, but then you followed with
Quote
Short - selling at margins
Instead of saying that it's selling in hope that it will decrease in value, which is more newbie friendly.

Thnak you for advice . at least someone is reading:) I will change when i will be in front of computer . Sorry for mistakes english it`s not my native language and when i write a post i`m using different tools to write correctly .

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Stablecoins!!!!!!Do we need this kind of coins???( Tether) on: March 14, 2018, 01:26:53 AM
Cryptocurrencies exhibit transaction immutability and censorship resistance, and
in these ways are a better form of money; but their adoption has been hindered
by the volatility inherent in their static monetary policies. Users cannot engage
with such systems as a medium of exchange if the purchasing power fluctuates.
Stability continues to be one of the most valuable yet elusive characteristics for
the technology.
Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed for price stability. They should ideally
be as effective at making payments as fiat currencies like the US Dollar, while
retaining their other desirable properties. A decentralised payment network built
on a stablecoin would be able to capture all the benefits of a permissionless system,
while also eliminating volatility. One approach to achieving price stability
is to produce a token whose price targets the value of a fiat currency. Targeting
stability against fiat currencies obviates the need to respond to macroeconomic
conditions, as the token then benefits from the stabilisation efforts of large institutions
acting in fiat markets. Furthermore, if a token’s price can be maintained
at $1, then it can serve as an interface between fiat money and cryptocurrency.
If such a stablecoin does not require an account in a traditional bank, then it
can be effectively used for settlement and purchasing, without the centralisation
and counterparty risk involved in fiat transactions. Thus it can be expected that
by using stablecoins, exchanges that trade fiat for crypto will be able to rapidly
reduce their transactional costs, reducing the barriers for new users to enter the
market.

Distributed Collateral

Today’s fiat money is not backed by an asset; its stability is derived from the
authority of the governments which issue it. These governments require that tax
obligations are denominated in the currencies they control, which are then used
to fund active stabilisation efforts. However, with government control comes the
risk of tyranny and debasement. Decentralised monetary systems don’t have
these powers, and so they must use collateral to provide confidence in the value
of their tokens. A decentralised system cannot use collateral assets that exist
outside the blockchain, as interfacing with these assets necessitates centralisation
with the aforementioned failure modes. Meanwhile, cryptoasset prices have been
dominated by speculative volatility. So whether a system uses real-world assets
or cryptoassets to back a stable token, if the value of the collateral is uncorrelated
with the demand for the token, then the system is vulnerable to external price
shocks. Large corrections can destroy the value of collateral without any change
in the demand for the token issued against it. Clearly then, in designing an
asset-backed stablecoin it is important to select the collateral asset carefully, but
no existing asset perfectly serves the purpose.
Cryptocurrency such as BitUSD or NuBits have failed in the past, and now there is Tether (USDT, EURT). Tether for each currency it distributes holds an equivalent amount in the reserve (there is no evidence in this respect), but in a centralized company.

How do you think do we need stable coins? Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

It is my understanding that the CBOE Bitcoin Futures contract expiration is this upcoming Wednesday.
Can someone who knows about Bitcoin Futures explain what impact this will have on the BTC price.
It is my understanding that Bitcoin Futures are being shorted.
Would this mean that following the contract expiration the BTC price will sharply increase?
