1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Auto payment on: December 02, 2013, 09:00:10 PM
Are there any wallets that can do automatic payments? For example if I wanted to pay a charity 1 mbit every month, the wallet would simply make that payment as long as it was running. I think if this doesn't exist, maybe it should, this would make it easier for people to donate or pay for services.

Coinbase does this, I just went through and tried it. It's under "recurring payments" and you select the address you want to automatically send money to every day/week/month/year

Hi TheDwarf,

Welcome to the forum and to Bitcoins! The other types of non-Bitcoins are all called "altcoins", which include things like Feathercoins. Here is a list of many different coins: http://altcoins.com/

Hi Simon,

Welcome to the forum! The discussion you linked to is from 2011, so the person is probably not in too much of a hurry if they haven't found you yet Wink

Hanging out and posting will free you from Newbie status pretty quickly. Here are the restrictions: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177133.0

Hope you stick around, and thanks for spreading the word on Bitcoin!

Looks like the forum was down most of the day! Here's an admin post about what happened: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=354365.msg3793661#msg3793661

I changed my password and edited my hosts file to point to the correct IP address, and hopefully no other info was leaked in the attack on the forum!

People with an extreme opinion in either direction are just more vocal about it Wink

The only thing I needed were some shoes and clothes Cheesy. Wish I could have bought that with BTC.

There are some clothing companies on Shopify, where you can now pay in Bitcoin Cool http://www.shopify.com/blog/10480345-75-places-to-spend-your-bitcoins

Others are correct, LocalBitcoins could be easier in this case, but I was able to make a purchase from Coinbase almost immediately, at the current price, although the delivery time is still much later. I don't know if it had something to do with my situation or bank account type, but all I did was choose the instant approval option, then placed my order.

That's quite an investment without knowing if it will pay off!  Shocked

I agree with LeafMiner, it might be better to dump the equipment soon before it really loses a lot of value. Selling them "new in box" before you use the block erupters might even mean you could sell them individually for near new price.

You could mine other altcoins, but it'd *really* be a gamble that they'd ever increase in value enough to make it worth it.

Tributary, would you be willing to collaborate on a bitcoin project? How much time do you have to devote to BTC projects?

I don't think I'm ready to commit to a project yet - I'm still researching the Bitcoin universe Wink

That's some interesting brainstorming!

I've also been wondering about potential business models around Bitcoin. I'm a programmer and interested in start-ups, and I'm surprised there's not more apps out there surrounding Bitcoin (only drug/gambling places and faucet sites).

Right now, it sounds like businesses that allow people simply to purchase Bitcoin are in need, but that's difficult for regulatory reasons. Coinbase and Bitstamp are good but slow, then BTC-e and Mt. Gox all sound like they're on shaky ground. Add in all sites that have been hacked or scams and it's a huge opportunity for the first reputable business to sweep in!

Hi Mitron!

I'm new here also - interesting to hear your background!

Does your mining work out as profitable in the long run? I have never mined anything, but looking at the hardware stats on http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/ makes it look very difficult to get ahead of the curve and make it profitable.

Here are my thoughts on Bitcoin right now.

Why use the extremes to draw your predictions, and not the average/median (especially on the market volume, where the beginning of that slope is one large, unique sell-off)

Hi everyone - I just signed up for the forum!

I've been watching Bitcoin for awhile and learning about it, but only last week did I invest. I bought a little from Coinbase during a dip in price, and am still waiting for that to hit my wallet Roll Eyes

Other than that, I go to a round of faucet sites sometimes and earn a few fractions of a penny! It's chump change, but I don't have much fiat to keep buying btc with, and it's exciting to have something that will (ideally) increase in value.

Nice to meet everyone!
