1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Butterfly labs delays, refunds, and message blocking on: June 03, 2014, 11:17:03 PM
Their FAQ states they are a Wyoming registered company.

"As a Wyoming Corporation, we operate under the US Federal Trade Commission's business guide for mail or telephone ordered merchandise.  The relevant guideline suggests that if no delivery terms are stated or agreed to, then 30 days should be assumed.  In our case, we've gone to great length to ensure there is no ambiguity.  Customers are/were notified of the back order situation, the inability to cancel their order and the multi month wait to be expected.
Here is the relevant FTC guideline text:
"when you advertise merchandise, you must have a reasonable basis for stating or implying that you can ship within a certain time. If you make no shipment statement, you must have a reasonable basis for believing that you can ship within 30 days."

Wyoming lets anyone register there as a tax dodge apparently.

As per that part of their FAQ, their statements about expected release dates on their forums at the time of ordering framed the expected supply date.

So stick your condescension where your head is.

I only invested in one monarch and that was a lot to me.
I feel a lot of empathy for the guys who sunk many times that into the hardware back when it looked like they could get a decent ROI.
3  Economy / Service Discussion / Butterfly labs delays, refunds, and message blocking on: June 03, 2014, 09:02:14 PM
Hopefully nobody reading this has invested in any Butterfly labs equipment since the math started showing that it wouldn't be anything more than a paperweight.

Anyway, I tried seeking a refund last month after waiting four months when they had originally predicted release by the end of January. After five days with no response I contacted the Wyoming Attorney General's office, since BFL claims to be a Wyoming company. Well, they may be registered there, but the AG for Wyoming says they do not actual business in the state so referred me to the Kansas AG instead.

I made a point of CCing my correspondence to both parties.

So BFL has now put a moderation flag on my forum account so I can't post. They don't want me telling anyone to contact the attorney general either. So I'll do it here.

If you pre-ordered a card and they've been holding on to your money they do not have the right to do so. If there's no product in your hand the sale is NOT final.
4  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: BFL Monarch 600GH PreOrder Transfer. Jan 13 @ 3.75 BTC on: May 09, 2014, 10:12:33 PM
Basically someone would have to be confident that BTC is going to increase again in value.

Taking a big loss on the card with that amount currently, about $700 CDN. (When I ordered it in January it came to 2500 CDN after conversion).

Not yet. They're testing them now: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/blogs/bfl_josh/
6  Economy / Computer hardware / BFL Monarch 600GH PreOrder Transfer. Jan 13 @ 3.75 BTC on: May 09, 2014, 02:40:28 AM
Monarch 600, pre-order invoice date of Jan 13th. 3.75 BTC

Your purchase of my 600 Monarch pre-order helps me buy a ride-on lawn mower this weekend, so buy fast! The weeds are coming up! Cheesy

If you have the BTC and want to do the trade you'll also be able to message me on eBay to verify my legitimacy as a safe trader. My eBay ID is cryonx.

In order to transfer the pre-order you will need to have a Butterfly Labs account.

Hmm. I've been getting the "Displayed transactions may not be correct" error and no block source for 9 days now.
Upgrade attempt in the console gives me the safe mode warning, so I've been manually downloading the .msi file from the site.

Since I was a CPU miner since I sold my card it's not a big impact on me. I'm just curious what might be causing it.

It seems like there's two camps here. One that wants to see Gridcoin stabilize and grow, and recognize the issues that come with it being a single developer project. The other wants to get rich, now.

I don't care much for the second group.

If you come in and act like a tool, be thankful that some people will actually treat you with any respect in addressing your posts.

The devs are real professionals!  I don't mine this coin, I added suppressminingconsole=true to my conf file.
And instead of using the wallet like a normal user I'm getting dumb error messages, every time a start the wallet!(not only once as the message say)
Yeah, you know what you're doing!

0 to 450 coins a day was where I fell solo mining on a R9 290.

That's what everyone says about the coin they're pumping these days.

i just wish there were some stats on the page, can you give me the numbers I seek please?

seems like a coin I could believe in, but i need to know if it'll cover my electricity costs

I'm finding that I'm quite content with just getting my CPU rewards. I was mining at 800-850 KH/s and getting 0 to 3 blocks a day before, but that also rendered my computer (my primary machine) basically unusable. Now I'm still getting a decent numbers of coins, my BOINC rate is the same, and I can still use the machine Smiley

Plus I got that horrid AMD card out of my computer and put my nvidia GTX 650 Ti Boost back in it. It might be an older card with less power, but it outperformed the R9 290 for me. Likely due to AMDs terrible drivers.

I'm all sync'd up, and just got a nice 80 gridcoin addition to the wallet Smiley

Dogecoin and Gridcoin.

Much research.

Very science.

Wow.

On each machine? Darn. I figured that as long as one machine was running the wallet and sending the beacons that the other machines could just be contributing work units that would show up on the BOINC site Smiley
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Gridcoin (GRC) - first coin utilizing BOINC - Official Thread on: February 21, 2014, 06:17:49 PM
For CPU mining can I just have BOINC running on my other rig without gridcoin since it's just racking up BOINC work units that are reported on the BOINC site?
19  Economy / Goods / Re: Need a Canadian resident on: February 20, 2014, 09:37:36 PM
Did you have any luck?

Since a lot of people on the internet don't have English as a first language we'll forgive that post, and just ask for one that makes sense Smiley
