a lot of people have been scammed lately, people who were just trying to invest it. It's life, but I feel for them.

Normalization of the pricing will send the BTC into weaker hands that actually spend it. That is the only future of BTC. If it keeps going like this it will never be adopted as a currency in the mainstream.

I am looking for good recipes for Fruitcake and Twice-baked Potatoes.

I will share a couple good ones from my stash of proven winning recipes.

French Silk Pie

8 inch baked pie shell
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 (1 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 eggs

Cream butter in mixer, Gradually add sugar, continue to mix until thoroughly combined with a smooth appearance.
Blend in chocolate and Vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating for 5 minutes after each egg, spoon into pie shell. Serve with whipped cream or cool whip on top.

Caramel Corn

1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
Roasted peanuts to taste (optional)

1/4 teaspoon baking soda (bicarbonate of soda)
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 cups of popped popcorn (unflavored)

Mix the first 4 ingredients in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high (1000W) for 4 minutes, stirring halfway through. Place popcorn in large paper grocery bag. Mix in the Vanilla and baking soda in the bowl (now filled with caramel) Pour caramel immediately into the paper bag, overtop of the popcorn. Close the bag and shake vigorously, (we usually pass the bag from one person to the next) put the bag into the microwave  for 3 minutes 30 seconds, stop the microwave and repeat shaking every 45 seconds until the buzzer sounds. Spread onto 2 large baking sheets to cool, wait 2 minutes to form into balls if you serve it that way, otherwise let cool and store in air-tight container.

So, let me see if I have this right.

You were selling on silk road. and you were growing marijuana, and got raided and now you are hoping that someone will take pity on you and give you some BTC or other stuff?

What about me? I work my butt off, so does my wife. I could cook meth or grow weed or moonshine, but I don't because I want to respect the laws of the land, no matter how much I disagree with them. A couple of days ago, I lost my job. Don't feel bad for me though, I quit because I couldn't take the way they treated me, that is my fault, just as it is yours that you got caught growing weed.

Why not try to find a way of making money that doesn't involve begging, like writing an e-book about what you went through or helping people set up their miners for tips or ANYTHING PRODUCTIVE.

I post in here because, I am trying to let people know about the GH exchange I am on. I put my money in there and I like it, it just so happens that they have a referral bonus, so that is why I have it in my siggy.

My story is by far not the worst, people have been scammed out of BTC because they trusted the wrong person with their investments. I feel much worse for them.

I reinvest my GH and have a sell-wall for all my hash in place, take the spikes to cash out into BTC then buy-in a little lower, repeat. makes my payout about the same if I play it right, but if you get too greedy, you can get to a point where the blue candle (upwards spike) does not hit your sell position and you have to readjust lower.

I think that we should go the other direction and actually make sure that everyone knows where everyone is at any given moment, especially those that have invested and made a lot of money in BTC, as they are targets of the state.

On the face of it, it seems that you be on the losing end of the deal, but if governments knew there would be an uproar every time a big player gets unceremoniously thrown in jail for some trifling matter such as forgetting to take care of his parking ticket, then they might think twice about pulling stunts like that.

After all, they can find us whenever they want.

As I understand it many people in the crypto community value their privacy above almost all else, they don't want to say if they have a large amount of miners or bitcoin. They are fearful of scams and hacking, but in my opinion, the people they need to worry about are the government, the big banks and their agents and agencies.

Recently we have seen the governments coming after an exchange site that accepted BTC for illegal goods, not just the owners, but also people who supported it, and in the near future we will see people put in jail for tax evasion. The powerful have no problem finding you, no matter your safeguards. There are whole agencies with more resources than we can muster on our own ready willing and on the case to destroy a competing currency.

They aren't messing around, but are we being a little TOO careful and leaving ourselves open to being put in jail on a technicality for being involved?

I would like to discuss this with the community.

But don't they say we are now on year seventeen of no increase in temperature?  That's contrary to all the predictions, right?

From where did you get the idea of 17 years of static temperature?

Those hockey stick graphs are widely discredited in the scientific community, they are only used to scare schoolchildren and make hype on tv about how we must do EVERYTHING to prevent global warming climate change.

I know many of us have been taught so HARD that it's real and it's bad and it's just gonna get worse because "Scientists" say so, but those who actually look at the numbers and dig into the research find that the numbers have been fudged so much that those graphs should look nothing like that.

Nowadays, people forget that just a few decades ago, liberals in the US told everyone that because of human society that we were about to head into the next ice age (not warming, cooling) and now it seems they are doing it again.

337  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's wrong with unequal wealth distribution? (Was: 2013-12-10 Bitcoin Proves.. on: December 22, 2013, 03:39:22 PM
If wealth distribution were equalized, it would sink to a lower common denominator because once people rely on a set income their drive for wealth is extremely diminished and they don't work as hard, then eventually people starve... but hey it would be equal, so that's... good?

If no one works, then who will grow the food crops? Who will patrol your town? Who will look after the public transportation and other facilities? It is bound to fail.

Why would anyone stop working? Cheesy

Wealth distribution is just a data or a property of a system. I think most people are not speaking about giving everyone the same amount of money (it will never happen), but a shift from a greed oriented world to a cooperation and common good oriented world.

binary people are amusing.

Why would people stop working?

Take the US for a case study, those who have unemployment tend to only actually get a job right before it runs out. Why WOULD they start working is the real question. In order to evenly distribute the wealth, you would have to make allowances for low-skill workers or people who are unemployable because of either their attitude, intelligence or physical ability, if that were the case, those who do not have a very big drive to make something of their own (which is most people) would simply try to find a way to take some of this easy money. Once they do, they take it because they can, and often work under-the-table to make up the difference between what they get handed and what they want.

The alternative is scary.

If you want to distribute wealth and won't take excuses, you must literally enslave the populace and put them to work on your terms (or the terms of whomever is in power) they would then be coerced to farm or do factory work (this is what happened in Russia during communism to a certain degree) and while they had some triumphs, the general effect was massive poverty, a large black market, corruption in high degree and the wealth being distributed mainly in the government and police.

In short, you CAN'T distribute wealth evenly by force, and when you even attempt it, the outcomes are so bad and history is so replete with examples, you must be a madman, evil or simply too stupid to understand history to attempt it.
