Hi Pierre,
yeah I think I was lucky.. i had to sell them back then so yeah jackpot..
I did use the rest to send money to some people and at one point I bought a gift card and bought the same amount on bitcoin using coinbase. As an attempt to alway have the same bitcoin balance and contribute to bitcoin usage.
I am know thinking about buying a couple coins if it goes to 300.
I have seen some charts showing money flow, moving averages, etc etc... and it looks like bitcoin may go higher after touching a support level.

Can someone explain the added value of Xapo over typical fiat currency denoted debit cards?
The number of currency conversions is the same or even higher. Is there a difference in conversions fees between letīs say BTC--> EUR or USD --> EUR ? The only advantage I see is for people without a bank account.
Thanks
Well, I just got schooled by caribbeanbitcoiner here haha So it doesn't have an added value I believe compared to using fiat cards. What it does, it opens up the possibility of using your bitcoin anywhere. If they take debit cards, now they take bitcoin thanks to Xapo. My initial concern was over making bitcoin more acceptable. The above does not open bitcoin to the merchant as the merchant will not even know bitcoin was used as payment. Basically the merchant charges Xapo, Xapo charges you and takes form your Bitcoin stash. Simple as that. Check their website regarding conversion and fees.

The point is you get to spend your at a place where they won't normally take btc. Most businesses aren't going to accept Bitcoins based on the fact that it's new, unregulated and the creator is unknown.
Well, I think you just won the post I guess I was going for having the merchant be part of the bitcoin cycle but you are right. Haha, I didn't win. We just got into a healthy little debate. Do you use Xapo?

Welcome back in the community , have you seen the bitcoin price ? Hi Thanks, and yes... the price is right back where I bought my first one I had to sell back in december and february due to personal stuff haha glad I did, But I kept a coin and change Have have you been? True.. I heard of cloud mining.. is it really profitable? (coin price, difficulty, energy price, etc.)
don't do it. most are ponzi's. if you want to mine 'on a cloud' use a p2p service. True.. I heard of cloud mining.. is it really profitable? (coin price, difficulty, energy price, etc.)
The best bet IMO is to try out with a few bucks. Some people are reporting them as profitable, some are not. My personal opinion is it is way better than hardware mining. And I have experienced that anything new in Bitcoin world turns out to be profitable for early adopters. If u delay for other's judgement, u may miss the boat. I am not really interested in mining as in buying or selling stuff or earning through work. But never say never.. who knows

So basically like the world bank?

But Xapo I don't think is the solution..
The way I think works.. is transaction happens in Fiat at the POS... XAPO just takes the exact amount plus a fee from your bitcoin bag.
The Bitcoins only travel between XAPO and the Bitcoiner. Not through the Merchant.. I believe and correct me if I am wrong.
So this is not a solution at all. For Bitcoin to spread its wings, the coins need to flow through The Merchant, The POS AND The bitcoiner or bitcoiner-ette.
In Xapo's case, the merchant never sees the coins.. so what is the point?

Not a fan of implementing debit cards that accept bitcoin. Why not? Why wouldn't Bitcoin adopt all forms AND create new ones too.

Is this finally what we need for mainstream consumer use. A wallet that connects to my bank account and all my bitcoin is insured, mobile app on the way. https://www.circle.com/insured how? what happens if they go bankrupt with huge amounts of coins disappeared? customers get back most of it 1.5 years later, if the insurance company is still around? Great question.. we have seen many companies come and go leaving a trail of tears... Who insures this company? What are the terms. So this is the Paypal of the Bitcoin world. How does Circle make money? Can they explain that? "You shouldn't have to pay fees to use your own money. We don't charge fees when you convert funds to or from bitcoin with a linked bank account, when you store your bitcoin, or for bitcoin transactions." <-- from the website.

Hi everyone, I have been gone for most of the year And I see Bitcoin is almost right back at when I started learning about it lol Welcome back! You should look at the altcoin market now. It is a lot more saturated than what it was before you left. I know! it is just amazing how easily coins can be created... or perhaps it is not that easy but is in fashion now.. cryptsy must be making tons of money lol Any good ones out there? btw, I was gone since February I think...

Have no idea, I'm as newbie as you well, being a newbie means that you could bring fresh ideas

yeah, im sure it is more complicated than that but the general idea I think is great.
I bet some older folks have already thought and maybe came up with something.. Would like to hear from more experienced people on the fallbacks..

It might be a step back but businesses aren't going to implement a whole new payment system for just one currency when swiping a Card is 10 times easier and currently implemented.
Exactly right We are talking about those small sized shops that won't update their systems because they cannot afford them. A plastic bitcoin card would be way to bring bitcoin to them.
