Ah, thanks for the background.
To be fair, 750 USD for 5.5Mh/s translates to 750/5.5 = ~136.36 USD/Mh/s.
Then * 18 = 2454 USD = 1450 GBP for 18Mh/s which is almost exactly what the Alpha-T costs incl international shipping.
So if anybody is struggling to find G blades used or new (presumably stocks are limited?) and believes Alpha-T will ship, there is still an opportunity here (given that there's some negotiating room here with us on 30% of the price).

Your alpha preorders are worthless; I doubt anyone would take it for free, let alone give you any money for it. Just the remaining balance alone, ignoring having to pay you for the deposit, is 1000 pounds and the miner is what, 10 weeks minimum from shipping if it ever even ships at all? For 1000 pounds one can get the same hash delivered TODAY.
My suggestion would be to take them up on the refund offer. 50% is better then 0%.
We haven't been following the mining scene at all in the past few months, and this was paid for by the Dogecoin we mined so it's not a big deal. I did a quick search out of interest, but I couldn't find what you were referring to: the A2 devices seem to range between ~2000-2400 USD for 18Mh/s which is roughly the same as this but you can only get the better prices with a high-priced group buy; the Titan looks pretty good but it's not shipping yet? Also, where did you see there was a 50% refund, I've not seen that (I believe Alpha-T offered order cancellation up until a few months ago, but that time has passed.) |

This is one of the more clever scams I've seen. Here's how I suspect it went down: 1. Max (who pushed QRK -- you guys saw how that turned out, right?) paid some guy to build a Keccak GPU miner implementation (it's not hard, source code is available freely [1]) 2. He then uses his fame + name to peddle a new coin using the Keccak algorithm, which no other coin uses 3. Sheep go baaaaah. Much profit. It's going to be interesting to watch with the various other direct to fiat exchanges (QRK*, DGC, ARG, SRC, ...?) opening up over the next few weeks, all competing for the mom & pop & other retail investors.
Already ZET/BTC and ZET/LTC is climbing rapidly on Cryptsy.

For those trying to complain about a pre-mine... 0.5% of total is NOT a lot of pre-mine. Also, not only does pre-mine allow for give-a-ways, it also helps prevent a lot of the problems at launch, ensuring that any bugs that may show are removed before everyone starts throwing a bunch of time at the coin. So all in all, it helps everyone. I also think that being completely transparent with what happens with the pre-mine money by posting all transactions of the pre-mine should help ease a lot of the concerns. If the items aren't posted, then sure, complain. But I fully believe that this is the correct way to go.
This makes no sense. 1. Testing: you can premine to your hearts content to test your coin... then delete the blocks and reset the blockchain and reset the coin. 2. Bounties: pools already make a sweet 0.5-3%, they really don't need more incentive -- DOGE killed all other alts in recent history with community sponsored bounties, not premine bounties. 3. Transparency: the creators created new user accounts and we don't know them from a turd in a cow field -- they can get away with murder time and time again using new accounts with nobody the wiser: THAT's why nobody wants to sit around waiting to see if they can trust a totally anonymous user because complaining will do nothing after the fact. |

3) Zero reward for the first 100 blocks
3) It is built into the wallet to not accept more than 500 kh/s during the first 5000 blocks
- obfuscate the limitation in the code a little, so it is not trivial one minute job to remove the limit
- the limit could also be gradually removed instead all at once on 5000th block
- mega farmers will of course try to circumvent this, but at least it will take a little time to setup multiple wallets
4) During the first 5000 blocks pools have enough time to set up, and will automatically start to operate normally after 5000th block
If you choose to take the standard route, expect WTS 10,000,000 for 0.5 BTC offers within 1 hour of the launch and small time miners having 1,000 at that point going ok good bye another coin raped.
Why do small time miners need special treatment? I think the bigger question here is: what the hell is 1/12/14? Use a professional date format if you're doing a professional coin, please. |

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you will actually follow through with this. Respect for attempting to rectify the situation, but larges premines are always bad and your proposal changes nothing. A 500m premine, excluding your first 1440 blocks, is equivalent to 10 days of mining. It's going to dilute the value of the coin for at least 20 days, and disincentivize miners to bother taking up the coin. And you'll still hold double that privately, with no guarantees about you not dumping your 30 days worth of mining on everybody's head. No matter how you spin it, a large premine punishes miners and rewards people who do nothing, which is not the foundation of a good coin. |
