One thing I can tell you is that he doesn't like hearing a fax machine on the other end of a 4am wakeup call.

Has anyone received a payout from this site? Anyone taken the time to figure out if this is legit, by that I mean are you getting the BTC you would be from CPU mining on a pool without this site?

I doubt many of us who are already "in" will be getting "out" anytime soon.
I'm hoping the little guys like us can weather the storm at any difficulty. I know I'd probably mine for BTC at a loss to "be a part of something" that I am excited about. The question is, when will the big farms close up shop?

Anyone tried this on a 6870 yet? That card crashes when attempting to make changes with Afterburner in the special mode (used for underclocking memory to 300).

That is currently being assigned to luck. Luck is not responsible for this...

Interesting that this thread was posted as the network hash rate went from 11 to 15 TH.

I was wondering the same thing about the increase. I thought it was finally stabilizing at 11 and then it seemingly jumped to 15 within an instant. Things are about to get a whole lot more interesting...
I know there are people here who seem to think difficulty and BTC price are related... Not being one of those people myself, I believe that we'll see a HUGE BTC SELLOFF once the next increase happens and people decide to cash out and run from their large scale costly and time consuming mining operations (the steady fall from 17 to 14 illustrates my theory that this has already been occuring since the last 2 difficulty increases). I only hope the price rebounds once that happens. I fear that for now the trend is down. Hopefully some major news site drums up some more interest in bitcoin speculation to offset the declining factors so that us little guys can continue digging up bitcoins.

I'm interested in a 1916 standing liberty quarter. Let me know if you've got one.

I'd be willing to buy a 1oz silver coin for $10 above spot so long as your website wasn't stamped on the back.

I'll keep an eye on your designs. I want to buy a shirt, but haven't seen one funny enough yet.

I mine at 3 different pools constantly. Whenever there is a ddos attack, the others just pick up the slack. Diversify.
Don't mine at Deepbit. Their +50% monopoly won't end well for any of us. Your greed will destroy us all.

By "talent" I mean particular suitability.
Not everyone is equally suited to do bitcoin mining.
The more of these traits you have, the better you will do at bitcoin mining:
In no particular order: PC tech experience (the more the better) -- building, troubleshooting, repairing, configuring, drivers, and software. Linux/scripting/programming experience (or, Windows experience if you choose to mine with Windows) Working/being at home 24/7 Spare time Access to supply of cheap (or at least market-priced) mining cards Learning things quickly; good memory; above-average IQ Knowledge of economics, budgeting, spreadsheets, markets Having spare PCs, fans, cables, tables, network equipment, etc. Having enough space (an entire room?) for lots of machines Having an efficient central A/C unit Living in area w/ little need for A/C Living in area w/ cheap electricity
This is probably not an exhaustive list, but it gives you some idea of what I mean by "talent" -- more like "good situation for mining" combined with talent(s) useful for running a mining operation.
I have no PC tech experience. Can't program. Work a full time job away from home. Have no spare time. Overpay for my electronics. Am not considered to have a good memory. Have no spare PC parts. Have 2 separate A/C units for my house (the one in the section that mines bitcoins stays off). Live in the desert and I don't have low energy costs. Did I mention I'm an excellent bitcoin miner and trader? Want to know why? It's because I'm fearless and have deep pockets. I noticed balls and bills weren't on your list. Those 2 things are all you'll ever need, for anything.

TRIXX doesn't work for my 6870. Card won't go lower than 800 for mem, and it runs slower at 800 mem vs 1050.
I can't find anything to work with my 6870 either. It's quite frustrating because I would love to lower my mem to 300 just for the temperature. However, at 800 mem vs 1050 mem, 800 runs quite a bit cooler, and no slower. I guess that will have to be good enough until someone solves the 6870 memory not wanting to go lower than 800 issue (unless you lower the core speed to lower than 900).

my fear for Bitcoin is that it gets taken down as well since one could argue it is an inflationary reaction to all the quantitative easing we've had the last 3 yrs. i fear this even more a network protocol break.
My fear as well. However, in the event things get even worse, I'd like to be as diversified as possible. BTC is just another layer of diversification for me. Fortuntely, a vast majority of my wealth isn't in BTC so if things getting better with the global economy is the worst case scenario for BTC, I guess I can deal with that.

I think the free trading by Mt Gox has stabilized the price. Lots of people are putting in orders just below the price and just above to make a quick and easy profit off of regular volatility. I think once the free trading craze wears off you'll see volume slow a little as well as a little more fluctuation in price. I for one think it's good for the BTC economy to finally be showing some price and difficulty stability. The days of huge difficulty increases and ridiculous price appreciation are behind us, at least speaking relative to percentages.
