1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin2 was the FIRST free - fair distribution on: April 17, 2014, 01:10:01 PM
Premine was first. Coin2 was some kind of stealth facebook launch, and failed so badly it needed to be scrapped and re-released as a proof-of-stake coin. Faircoin had a reasonably fair release, although some users still managed to scam it.

Lol, failed, scrapped? IT IS SELLING AT 1000 satoshi mate. And it was 'switched' to POS , all coin holders got converted coins.

I just checked your post history, looks like you have nothing to do other than spreading FUD

The coin suffered multiple forks and died. That is a fail in my book. Dev didn't have the skills to change it to POS so an entirely new coin was released instead (albeit with a 1:1 redemption ratio). How can you call distribution to a select set of facebook friends fair? Some people don't even use facebook. Facebook is hardly the premier site for altcoin releases either.

I don't need to spread FUD because the coin will die again all on its own.

Your comments have confirmed that you are a stupid teen sitting behind his keyboard talking about something which he knows nothing about. Dev is a highly intelligent guy who thought a completely new blockchain was the best option because C2 purchased before the attack would be invalid if the chain was rolled back. It was the best decision as dev didnt want people to lose their money due to pre attack rollback. Now better get out of crypto before you lose some serious money on a shitcoin as people like you tend to get more attracted to them

I couldn't care less about the coin, but I take exception to your hypocrisy. Take these quotes from your OP for example.

...
So coin2 was the first free giveaway coin ...

...This thread was made to educate people as some coins are using the I AM FIRST statement to give some artificial value to their coin.

You are using the same "I AM FIRST" routine to gain artificial value for C2. Premine was clearly the first.

Then you accuse me of spreading FUD, when clearly you are spreading FUD about Premine. The distro was not "shady". The premine thread is there for all to see. With a block chain explorer plus the addresses listed in the thread you can see exactly who got what.

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin promises freedom on: April 16, 2014, 12:59:21 AM
People seem to forget what Bitcoin truly stands for sometimes and its disheartening

People seem to forget that they do not have the collective wisdom to tell everyone what bitcoin is to them.

It's more disheartening that people don't understand what fractional reserve banking and inflation are. They are ignorant so they get screwed by the banksters and PTB. At least being ignorant of the freedom that bitcoin offers does not directly harm them. They will get taken along for the ride Smiley
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please Allow DRK To Go UP on: April 13, 2014, 04:29:48 PM
Buy it yourself then. It's in a clear down channel and until it breaks out of that big traders wont be buying.

The massive instamine wont help its price either.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 13, 2014, 02:19:09 AM

Not a fan sorry. Good effort though.

Just a tip for your slogan - "privacy-coin" shouldn't have a hyphen in it (in this context). It should be two separate words. Hyphens are used when the compound word is used as an adjective, not as a noun. Same thing with the "transaction-system".
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Preferred Bitcoin logo[POLL] on: April 10, 2014, 10:24:59 PM
The old one is fine for promotion and marketing Bitcoin.

The new one is fine for unicode, writing, and hopefully incorporating into our keyboards soon.

Why should bitcoin change. Unicode should add a new symbol.

No one is asking to change the logo, just the symbol because the current one with the vertical strike resembles the Thai Baht.

Fair enough. Lots of different countries use the $ symbol without problems.

You are asking for a lawsuit with that name. Even if they haven't trademarked the name there are laws against trying to imitate people.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much money you've lost due to SCAMs? on: April 10, 2014, 05:52:07 PM
A while ago scams were extremely rare, a huge amount of coins have come in. You really need to do alot of research. There is a large majority of players out there who are trying to further technological development in both services and coin development. Learn from your mistakes, everyone has lost money from bad investment.

Scammers have always been around. Two years ago I tried to buy some bitcoins for $20 each, after the scammer posted an offer here. Sent payment by paypal and never got any bitcoins. No harm done though, as Paypal refunded me. It put me off bitcoin for two years though :/
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Research: Poll on: April 10, 2014, 05:02:17 PM
Bitcoin is not deflationary.

You have to be careful with blanket statements and definitions. Its supply is inflationary (until it stops being mineable, obviously) but it's price is (generally) deflationary (on average its price is going up). It's comparable to gold in some ways, e.g. very slightly inflationary supply, as its being mined, but generally considered to be a deflationary monetary system. Also, it depends on what time-scale you're looking at.

...
RFC #2)

  GPUCoin rewards reduction.

Given that we are going to need to hard fork at block X anyhow.. we can choose to reduce GPUCoin reward.

Throwing this out there, maybe we should reduce reward to 100

Will take comments for 1 day before making changes and releasing new clients.

Don't ponzify your coin. Changing rewards mid-game just screams scam. Messing with rewards will also put off new investors. Stability is required.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Industry Group Aims to Change Bitcoin Symbol on: April 09, 2014, 01:36:24 PM
Upside-down cross, fail.

Bitcoin cat, win.

Better?

Looks like a dalek. The other way round it looks like a fat dude.

EDIT: Also, "industry group"? Seems like one dude with a website to me.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sent BTC without fees by mistake on: April 09, 2014, 12:34:40 AM
It (0.9.0) did the exact same thing to me a week or so ago. It took about 2 days to confirm but it did go through eventually.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We already have money. Why do we need Bitcoin?? on: April 09, 2014, 12:31:06 AM
because fiat inflation is running at about 10% per year (as measured using 1980s metrics) in the US alone. http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data/inflation-charts

If you live in Venezuela, Argentina, or many other places in the world, another form of money would be most welcome.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Solution To The IRS Bitcoin Compliance Problem… on: April 08, 2014, 09:33:07 PM
The solution is to just ignore them. The IRS has absolutely no idea how much I made selling bitcoin over the last year, and they don't deserve a penny of it anyway.

Don't give the IRS a dime or satoshi unless you support all the bullshit USA does with your money (like blowing up innocent people, bank bailouts, welfare for fat, lazy people and single moms, police state, etc, etc)

If one was so inclined, you could use cash to buy/sell BTC on craigslist (via tor) and then keep your mouth shut.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DARKCOIN Friendly reminder. Two Million coins Instamined at launch. on: April 08, 2014, 07:37:46 PM

Whoa! only 110 votes with 5% difference between yes and no and you decide to abort the vote and lock the thread before 24 hours and conclude that everyone decided not to airdrop?

 Roll Eyes

After I asked many investors that purchased $10-100k USD worth of Darkcoin came out of the woodwork and said that would rob them. You can't change the rules in the middle of the game. It's in the past and we're moving on.

Can you imagine buying $30000 worth of something and then the developers making it worth $15000 overnight to appease a small group of users?

So the community didn't vote, the big holders did (the ones that instamined with you)

Gotcha.  Wink

Nope, it was the community that voted.

You just said that you asked the investors, it's even quoted here.

Ah wait, you call "big investores" = community. Gotcha

Like I said in another thread, he just missed a comma in his sentence. It should read "After I asked, many investors...". The sentence doesnt make sense otherwise.

Slightly hypocritical to say you can't change the rules in the middle of the game when you already did that exact thing. It's ok if the rule change benefits you but not ok if it doesn't.  Roll Eyes
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DARKCOIN BIG SCAM?? let's take a closer look on: April 08, 2014, 07:29:25 PM

Dev just admitted that the airdrop "community vote" was a phony

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=561756.msg6130038#msg6130038

To be fair, I don't think he admitted it, he just failed to add a comma.

After I asked many investors ...

Should read "After I asked, many investors..."

Punctuation is important folks.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DARKCOIN Friendly reminder. Two Million coins Instamined at launch. on: April 08, 2014, 07:00:06 PM
ps, we offered the community an airdrop to even things out, they voted no.

Turkeys voting for Thanksgiving. That's never going to happen.

The fair thing to do would be to reintroduce the initial rewards schedule.
