No bounty plan? Airdrop?
2  Other / Meta / Re: Topics & Comments Worthy of Merit on: August 04, 2018, 11:00:01 AM
Nice initiative. You should add one condition that one cannot add his own posts here.
3  Other / Meta / Re: Let's spam Bitcointalk - bumping services - auto-bots! on: July 29, 2018, 05:19:03 AM
Is there some way to combine the lists and find users who appear are more than one lists.

That can be used to confirm that these accounts are doing it repetitively on purpose. Is there anything written in rules for such a behavior ?
4  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: July 28, 2018, 08:17:35 PM
am sorry i don`t understand what are you talking about ... but i will try ... thanks

I am surprised to see your past posts where the bounty related posts are perfectly organised. What aspect of merit system are you not able to understand ?
5  Other / Meta / Re: Please autoban this spam bot promotion! on: July 28, 2018, 08:03:47 PM
In addition to the ways mentioned on this thread for passing captcha, there are some other options as well. Without paying anything, it can be bypassed. I am not going to disclose those methods because more people will then abuse it.

Now, we can have additional security check for login but it will affect the user experience of a genuine member.

Some more will copy all the responses from OP and then use them.

It is very hard to stop this completely. This is because there are websites that offer micro jobs. People with accounts on this forum can bump for payments like $0.5 or even less. Some might be offering this as a package to different projects.
7  Other / Meta / Re: Promotional messages in PM on: July 27, 2018, 08:23:52 PM
Actually it's quite interesting, my activity seems to be going up as I post. I might even make some serious posts to get to 14 without spamming. I can see why newbies get stressed about the 360 second rule, but I think it's a good thing to keep in place. I was surprised that reporting posts was included in the rule though.
I think even the pm is included in this.

One think I like with current system is that these limits gets removed with increased activity. It does not require any merits or rank update for this. At least, there is some consolation for those who cannot make quality posts because of lack of knowledge or bad English.
8  Other / Meta / Re: Security bounties on: July 22, 2018, 06:25:55 AM
If it would not violate anonymity of individual security researchers, could you post statistics as to how many bugs in each category have been reported and fixed?

Just yours so far. (A CSRF.)

And what about current stats ?
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Beside Cryptocurrenices where would you invest? on: July 18, 2018, 06:02:48 AM
There are many possibilities in real estate . But which property is the right property?

For example, in his book Ken McElroy in his book “The ABCs of Investing,” writes about someone who purchased a building without ever visiting the site, and found himself saddled with several tenants who who were bad and dangerous The investment property was in a bad area of the city where the owner should never have invested in a property. By the time he got around to contracting Ken’s property management company, he had already lost a great deal of potential income because of over due rental payments.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is trading cryptocurrency different from stocks and forex trading? on: July 18, 2018, 05:56:33 AM
It depends on an individual. When I share this concept, I find that people understand it. But, they don't know how to implement it. How do you find an investment that complements what you like to do?

More good news - it can be quite simple to do. I think there is less research required in case of crypto as there are less options as compared to stock.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Disable signatures/bounties til a user reaches full member status. on: July 13, 2018, 05:00:56 PM
If the signature needs to be disabled, that should be done for all the members. There were many high ranked members involved in merit abuses cases. Especially, the high ranked members who got the rank by default should be treated same as a newbie.
This completely ignores the fact that most high-ranking members didn't join bitcointalk to shitpost for bounties.  That's a relatively recent development, and by limiting or prohibiting signature advertising in the lower ranks, it discourages people from making new accounts and ruining the forum with shitposting.

I don't see a lot of Heros and Legendaries making a living here by writing complete nonsense.  That's almost exclusively a noob issue.  It also sounds like you're extremely butthurt about the merit airdrop back in January.  That happened because I think Theymos realizes the higher ranks have earned their way to those ranks.  In addition, most of the merit abuse I've seen has been with the lower ranks, which is not surprising since they're the ones who want it the most.

That strengthens my suggestion. If they are so rich and busy with their work, they do not need bounties at all.

13  Other / Meta / Re: how to avoid permanent ban? on: July 13, 2018, 04:40:59 PM
If you have to ask, you probably deserve a ban. Roll Eyes

Most of the times it is true. Users breaking a rule, leave some comment at last that if this is against rules, please delete. OP can be given benefit of doubt as he appears to be new here.
14  Local / India / Re: What is your view on 2018 about crypto in India? on: July 13, 2018, 04:36:45 PM
2017 was a great year for crypto in India while few scammers also scammed many of ppl like amit  bharadwaj's gainbitcoin. There are still many MLM schemes are growing in India recently I have heared about 3xBit.
These scam gives change to the government to ban crypto as ppl are getting scammed through it. For 2017 This gainbitcoin is like a black spot for crypto users.
Govt is already in negative mood with this all crypto stuff so you can not predict anything about future in 2018. If there is any positive news from govt side crypto will surely boom in India else there is no future.

As per recent news Indian police is facing problems to cash the bitcoins it seized in scams. This is because currently withdrawals are halted on most of the Indian exchanges.
15  Local / India / Re: How to make money from bounty on: July 13, 2018, 04:33:57 PM
There are so many bounties on this forum itself. You can participate in one as per your interest and eligibility. Best in my opinion are those which pay in BTC as it translates to certain amount of cash.
16  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: July 13, 2018, 04:16:47 PM
You guys want something funny? Open any thread posted in bitcoin/altcoin discussion. The place is 90% shit post and it's really rare to have some interaction within.

The sad thing is that those spammers do not have to go through those spam comments. They are busy spamming at the fastest pace possible. It is the genuine users who have to read all that crap and suffer.
17  Other / Meta / Re: Who's to blame for the spam? Careless bounty managers/spammy users? Both? on: July 13, 2018, 04:08:21 PM
Everyone is responsible including the forum staff. They know that the problem exists but they have got to strike a a balance between limitations and forum growth. Most of the bounty managers are already doing good jobs like they blacklist users for spam.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Is This the New Way of Marketing in ANN threads? on: July 08, 2018, 05:26:47 AM
While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Though he has mentioned that members should not give merits on posts they just agree with but I doubt most will follow. Most of the people act based on emotions instead of rational thinking. This is not even something specific that can be monitored or evaluated by the staff.
19  Other / Meta / Re: Welsh's merit source application on: June 26, 2018, 06:39:50 AM
I checked your merit history and you are right about the fact that you are spending your Smerits regularly. I hope admin considers that while reviewing your application.
20  Other / Meta / Re: Strategies to prevent shit-posting on: June 26, 2018, 06:21:01 AM
Never happen.  No extra work for the moderators.

Any solution would need to be automatic.

That is something admin is already trying to implement in the form of merit system. Instead of giving all work to moderators for manually checking posts and awarding merits, it is in the hands of the reputed members here now.
