thank you!!!

Of course I can not give you merit but I'll tip you once I start mining. Sound fair to me.

Yesterday I looked into a RPI router, I'll leave the links here if anyone is interested.

https://openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/raspberrypifoundation/raspberrypifoundation_raspberrypi_3_b
https://openwrt.org/toh/raspberry_pi_foundation/raspberry_pi#resources

Bitcoin has so much potential, I really would like to see how they would do all the bribery and illegal trafficking on a public blockchain and the best part of this technology is that like the internet could shape this world for the better pretty fast.

I am a follower of St IGNUcius
https://stallman.org/saint.html

I guess the Bitcoin cult is compatible with the Church of Emacs.

I can not choose between them, I want both!!! It is true that I hope licences will vanish one days, but atm we got them.

God

Warning: taking any church too seriously may be hazardous to your health.

It would be cool to have an hymn like the free software does
http://www.gnu.org/music/free-software-song.html

It might be also helpful to help the cult of bitcoin if the bitcoin comic, that I believe is pretty good good, could be bought with something that is not using DRM. DRM is non free software it just sucks.

I bought the comic thinking it was an ebook = pdf and now I have this file I can not use and I can not get refunds, I call it a scam, since it was hidden that was DRM. I wanted to use the comic to make it easier for my dad to get to understand what Bitcoin really means.

I hate when I can not read something I crave not even when I pay. I went off topic, but this is the off topic section Tongue

thanks nullius for this cult !

thanks Satoshi for using your genius for the better !

The Nullian Bitcult is for zealots who believe that Bitcoin shall make banks, fiat currencies, and taxes obsolete.

Can I legally resell that DRM? I guess not. My first and hope last encounter with DRM definitely sucked, now I get all these campaigns against it much better.

wait... is it a tokken or a token?

If is a tokken I am definitely interested, but a token..., you can keep it thanks.

thanks for the suggestions,
I'll drop the TOR idea then.

Do you think that the firewall of openwrt or dd-wrt is enough? Should I look for something else?

Can I ask what do you use?

Anyway I'll document my progresses here for the next geek with the same problems.

regarding the walk in is possible to do it? Walk in means, come and buy like we normally do in a shop, you walk in, pay cash, or bitcoin and walk out with goods.

I have my reasons to do that:

I want to mine for fun atm, but what if the country I live in in 10 years wakes up and tell me: you bought a miner, you should have earned this, now pay me. Where I live is not unlikely that something like this happens. I do not want to avoid taxes, if it turns out I can make a profit while helping the bitcoin network, then I'll gladly expand to business level, but I just want to avoid possible future problems. Where I live is not like the governments really cares about us citizens, so is a plausible scenario.

Or buy through your shop and then you delete the order, since is not possible not to add an address to the order to complete it, and when someone arrive to collect you give her/him a regular receipt being B2C and goodbye like if I buy a normal piece of hardware.

Is not illegal what I am telling you, but maybe in English I did not explain myself at my best. If you ask your accouter she/he will probably explain the best way to protect your customer privacy.

Btw I just want to be part and help this revolution if I can, I am not here for the profits, I already have a job that is ok with me, this is having fun to me, and I would like it to remain this way.

If is not possible, then I guess I'll look somewhere else, or wait.

I would love that my country would stop wasting money on losing the war on soft drugs, legalize cannabis and start a small cultivation of that flowers because I really like the smell of them, I would love to have very perfumed flowers with low THC.  Just for the taste like the purple weed I was having in Utrecht 20 years ago and that now I do not find any more...

Where I live just the cannabis with like maximum 1%of thc is legal, but the perfume is not there, what's the point?

I would also keep a small forest of them in my apartment, because I really really like the plant, and I am not talking about ingesting, vaporizing, smoking or exctrating the THC, I really like the plant.

natural evolution created cannabis, man invented alcohol who are you going to trust?

At the moment I can not even grow one cannabis plant because where I live 1 plant for the law equals that you are a pusher, so jail time for one plant, is not worth it. I should probably move from this close minded country one day. And then... 1 plant? I want a forest of them!!! for myself!!!  Cheesy

thanks for the reply,

I was thinking to use TOR, because I am used to use it for pretty much anything I do on the net.  Plus I read here
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/3608/pool-mining-through-the-tor-network
this:

mostly something that came up during a conversation I had with my academic supervisor - he likes pointing out all possible exploits that could happen in relation to Bitcoin and one of them was attacking miners based on their IPs. So I figured out I'd investigate possible obfuscation of the addresses.
is just a paranoid person, or it could actually happens?

Here Satoshi stated that is not possible to connect the ip to the wallet
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=8.msg34#msg34
but is it possible to connect the IP to the miner? I want to mine for fun atm, but what if the country I live in in 10 years wakes up and tell me: you bought a miner, you should have earned this, now pay me. Where I live is not unlikely that something like this happens. I do not want to avoid taxes, if it turns out I can make a profit while helping the bitcoin network, then I'll gladly expand to business level, but I just want to avoid possible future problems.

There is no sole proprietorship where I live, opening a business costs at the lowest level 4000usd of taxes per years even if you do not earn anything so is not like I really have a choice here.

I would like to have remote access to the miners so I'll go with a vpn + static ip

I really believe too that cryptocurrency can help change the world for the better, like internet did, so I am very happy after years of lurking to have the chance of mining.

hello to all,
after a while my btc matured enough and I can now afford to start mining  Cheesy

I just have some doubts I hope you can help me clarify.

I plan to get an AvalonMiner 741 used, since the price is very appealing.

I need a static IP to mine right? I plan to get the NoIp service and use a router with openwrt or ddwrt.

Do I need a normal internet connection or can I use a 4G router like this one, that as lan and wlan ports too and comes with openwrt?
https://store.gl-inet.com/collections/travel-routers/products/gl-mifi-4g-smart-router?variant=3077071732763

The avalon miner has a raspberry as a controller, is it possible to make it run through tor? This is the only topic I found
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/3608/pool-mining-through-the-tor-network
I really would like to torify, or is a vpn enough?

I am still researching a lot, but these are the questions the puzzle me the most.

I suggest that you move this thread to the mining section of the forum, where many experienced miners hang around and can help you.
will do thanks for the suggestion

You need ethernet connection for your miner. Is that router directly connected to your phone line, or you are going to use it as WIFI bridge?
Its recommended to be stable ethernet connection, so your shares don't get stale.
that router has also ethernet connections, I guessed it could be ok since this person here is used a 4g modem too
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2427517.0

Not really good if you going to use the 4g signal because for me its not really stable and also i suggest to you to use the normal wired internet connection
this is actually what worries me, if the internet connection is stable or not with a 4G

I am new to mining but I have decided to give it a try with an used AvalonMiner 741.

I have a place where to set it where no one will be bothered by the noise.

An lte modem like the MiFi is what I am planning to use to bring internet there
https://store.gl-inet.com/collections/travel-routers/products/gl-mifi-4g-smart-router?variant=3077071732763
from what I understood what I need is a stable internet connection,  do you think this is an option, or should I go for normal internet?

The pool I should join is slushpool.

For the static ip address I can use this service
https://www.dynu.com

The avalon miner has a raspberry as a controller, is it possible to make it run through tor? This is the only topic I found
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/3608/pool-mining-through-the-tor-network

Is it better to use a router with DD-WRT and set the vpn there instead of torify?

I really like reading this forums, lots of info and sometimes the occasional post from Satoshi appears in the search, ultra cool!!!
