82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Advice in convert Bitcoin to USD (from a crypto-exchange to US Bank account) on: May 29, 2018, 12:19:40 AM
Hi guys, I was wondering how to convert amounts over 1.000.000 USD in bitcoins to a bank account in US dollars in the US, basically I have this question.

1.- Which exchanges are legal in the US to do this transaction, so when the transfer is done, I will not have problems with the local bank.
2.- With which banks these exchanges are friendlier to work.
3.- How do I declare this income to tax authorities.
4.- Is there any further paper work to declare for this transaction in the US.

Please I hope you can answer my specific questions, and do not have comments like why you are selling the bitcoins, nor things like, if you have that number of bitcoins you should alredy know, in fact I do not know, that is the reason why I am asking this.

In few days I am going to sign an exclusivity contract to represent a client in the sale of 5 solar power plants located in South America that are already operating and generating incomes, and we want to explore the possibility to sell them in bitcoins, but my client want some part of the deal has to be deposit in US dollars in the United States, this is the reason why I come to you with this questions.

Hope someone can help me and give some guidance

Regards
Daniel Roman

84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Dutch High School Students have to answer these 5 BTC questions to pass a exam on: May 23, 2018, 02:17:56 AM
In a Dutch High School, students received classes about Bitcoin, and have to answered some hard questions. Some crypto enthusiast does not know how to answer, here are the link to the news, https://coinidol.com/exam-on-bitcoin-math/, and I will quote the questions and the answers from this link  https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/8jd9hu/this_is_fucking_awesome_hahahaha_about_200k_dutch/dyz54ni/

Take the test and see you answer

The question is as follows, don't mind my subpar translating skills.

Bitcoin is a digital currency that only exists online. It has existed since January 1st 2009 and can be used as payment method in webstores and for other online services. Bitcoin is not, like standard money, made by a central bank. Instead, all bitcoin that exist are created by having computers participate in solving specific mathematical problems. This works as follows: everyone can run special software on his or her computer that participates in solving such a mathematical problem. The owner of the computer that solves the problem receives 25 (newly created) bitcoin as a reward. Because it was the case that in 2014 such a problem is solved every 10 minutes, 25 new bitcoins were created every 10 minutes. On January 1st there were (approximately) 12.2 million bitcoin.

Question A: Assuming the above, calculate in what year the amount of bitcoin exceeded 18 million, given that the speed at which they are introduced does not change.

Solution: Each day there are 60 / 10 * 24 * 25 = 3600 bitcoin to be earned. Given that there is 18-12.2 = 5.8 million bitcoin left to be earned, that's 5.8 * 106 /3600 = 1611 days, bringing us from 2014 to 2018.

In reality the rate at which bitcoin are introduced does not stay equal to 25 bitcoins every 10 minutes. This rate reduces. During the first four years, from January 2009 to January 2013, the reward was equal to 50 bitcoin. The reward gets reduced by half every four years: from January 1st 2013 to January 1st 2017 the reward is 25 bitcoin, for the next four years it is 12.5, and so forth.

Question B: calculate from which year on the reward will be less than one bitcoin.

Solution: the amount of bitcoin y given as a reward is given by y = 50 * 0.5x where x is the amount of 4 year periods that have passed since January 1st 2009 (the first period is given by x = 0). So we need to solve 50 * 0.5x = 1. In Mathematics A you're allowed to solve this directly with your calculator, else just divide by 50 and take the log. This gives that x = 5.6, so it will be after 6 periods. 6*4 + 2009 = 2033.

The total amount of bitcoin that can be put into circulation is limited. This is partially due to the reward halving every four years. The amount of bitcoin that is currently in circulation can be approximated by the following equation: C = 21 - 21 * 0.50.25*t Here C is the amount of bitcoin in millions and t equals the amount of years with January first 2009 given by t = 0.

Question C: Determine the maximal amount of bitcoin that can be in circulation based on the above equation based on reasoning.

Solution: 0.50.25*t goes to 0 for large t, so that C = 21 - 21*0 for large t. The limit is therefore 21 million bitcoin.

To regulate the total amount of bitcoin in circulation, not only the number of bitcoin rewarded per solution is reduced, but the difficulty of the mathematical problems being solved is also increased. That is because more and more people use their computer to solve the problems. The difficulty of the problems being solved scales exponentially according to the equation

D = 3.65 * e0.533t

Here D is the difficulty of solving the problem and t is the time in months, with T = 0 on January 1st 2013. Larger D implies that the problem is harder to solve.

Question D: Write down the equation for the derivative of D and argue that D is an increasing function, that increases by an increasing rate.

Solution: The derivative is 0.533 * 3.65 * e0.533t by virtue of how the derivative of ex works plus the so called chain rule; if f(x) = ex then f'(x) is ex, and if g(x) = eh(x) then g'(x) = h'(x)eh(x). Now, e^(0.533t) is > 1 for t > 0 so the derivative is positive and D is an increasing function, and e0.533*t2 > e0.533*t1 for t2 > t1 > 0 so that the derivative grows with time, leading to an increasing rate at which D increases.

The above formula for D can be rewritten in such a way that you can find the amount of months needed to reach a specific D.

Question E: Rewrite the above equation for D in such a way.

Solution: D = 3.65 * e0.533t, taking the log (= base e logarithm, they call it ln in Dutch high school math but I dont believe this is universally true) on both sides we get that log(D) = Log(3.65e0.533t) = Log(3.65) + Log(e0.533t) = Log(3.65) + 0.533tLog(e) = Log(3.65) + 0.533t so that we can write down that t = Log(D/3.65)/0.533 using the rules of the Log function (Log(xy) = Log(x) + Log(y), Log(xy) = ylog(x))

Any new larger exchanges on the horizon?

Stocks is heavily manipulated,

Maybe its me but I've noticed a lot of 51 / 102 dero buy and sells day in day out to keep the price low it's uncanny.

No, it is not only you, I saw yesterday a price manipulation at 14:00 pm with transactions of 50 and 18 DERO, that for two hours someone buy and sell constantly to increase the price. Do not get me wrong is good that the price increase. However, this technique is not ethical to do it, and also in not real, in long term will make real damage to the project. I know a lot of people will attack this comment, but to prove it, just see the graphics in tradeogre before making it.

Monero and Dero lol its a Monero Copy?!

Yeah, you should move on to another project.

In fact, it not complete true, DERO is a copy of Cryptonite algorithm (Monero Project) and Criptonote Protocol. Both are written in the language C++. However, CapDero had rewrite the entire code in the language GO (GOLANG). Is important to understand what GO is, and its benefits, to see the differences. (please google it)

There are a lot of more technical explanations but this is the simple one. I think the principal benefit is that GO was entirely made to run faster applications in cluod systems and was created to resolve problems of communication that google has in cluod computing. And the reason DERO will be better than anyone for now is  that it will have the faster communications system and transactions in the network compare to the others.

This are the key features of the project posted but the official team:

•   DERO is a completely new and unique CryptoNote blockchain written in Golang
•   DERO is the first blockchain to have complete SSL in the P2P layer
•   DERO will be the first CryptoNote blockchain to have 500 transactions per second on its native blockchain without any lightning networks, validators or off-blockchain solutions
•   DERO will be first CryptoNote blockchain to have smart contracts on its native chain without any extra layers or secondary blockchains
•   CryptoNote privacy
•   Smart contracts
•   Atomic swaps
•   Mobile and offline wallets
•   Lightweight wallets
•   Subaddresses
•   Escrow services on the blockchain
•   Address signing and certifying
•   Voting on a private blockchain

Hope that with this you  judge better the project

I started the wallet in the Tails OS, but I do not have synchronization with the network. How to specify the proxy of TOP nodes in the settings?
And tell me please, I understand correctly that DERO Atlantis will be an ordinary client? I would like to see a graphical interface, because for me it is much more pleasant than using a console  Smiley

What they said, although I will go one step further and say I have no freaking clue how to navigate a console at this point in time. A QT wallet would be great, but if not at least a mobile or web wallet perhaps? Anywhere but the exchange to store DERO please and thanks  Smiley

Anywhere but the exchange to store DERO please and thanks  Smiley, hahaha, you make my day with that comment hahaha, if I want help  in configurate the console PM

much complaining & nagging and nobody took notice how well dero withstand 300mh on its network?

It's been topping 500 at times.

I think we all noticed that. However, what you think is something good is actually the opposite. As an example, at the first months after the launch of the coin in the official pool there were more than 1000 miners per day, miners with GPU rigs and CPU. If you see now the official pool "http://pool.dero.live/" there are at least 118 miners per day and the hashrate is not bigger than 1 megahash in the pool. Hence, you have to analyze the risk that DERO network is facing, for wherever this ASICS are located are generating 322.59 MH / sec to the DERO network, and what will happen when they are gone? Do not misunderstood me I want them out of the network and return to GPU and CPU mining, but the questions here are. How the DERO team will make real miners come back to the network when the ASICS are gone? How many real miners are mining with ASICS? Is this really decentralization or is it a monopoly? I can think that the entire network is among between 15 – 25 people, for the company who sells the ASICS sell them in units of five or ten units per order.

As other examples compare these three coins that have cryptonite algorithm and crytonote protocol. Each one is different, I know is for example.

If you see the Monero network after 4 years has 480.33 MH / S, with a difficult of 57,640,036,162, the block is 1,573,597 and the reward per block is 4.63 Monero

If you see  HAVEN a coin that appears at the same time that DERO the network is 28.47 MH / S, with a difficult of 3,415,954,846, the block is 68,250 and the reward per block is 30.90 HAVEN, (I know there was a pump and dump in this coin, but that is another theme)

But, when you see DERO for the fault of ASIC the numbers are not logic, the network is 324.59 MH / S, with a difficult of 38,951,381,007, the block is 75,725 and the reward per block is 27.15 DERO.

In my opinion when DERO migrate to Atantis will have to give incentives to GPU and CPU miners to stabilize the network once and for all.

98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is GPU Mining Still Profitable? Should YOU Build a Mining Rig? GPU Mining Dead? on: May 12, 2018, 02:38:02 AM
In fact, I configure one of my firsts mining rigs seeing your videos. It is being a long time since then. But thanks.
Answering your question, I think is still profitable, but you have to consider some things, to me the most important thing is to see the most perfect time to buy the GPU, for me is august for Radeon always sell their products at a low price for introduction, so it will be easier to recovery your investment in short time. For example, the best GPU when Radeon tries to enter the market their price is 40% lower than the rest of the year thanks to the speculators. On the other hand, NVIDIA says theirs profits are going to decrease for they do not expect people buy GPU for mining like the others years. So whe can expect a decrease in the GPU price.
Second, I think is important to find out a coin that can give good profits, right now I am mining Haven and I feel very comfortable with the returns. But perhaps is for the market manipulation this coin suffers at the beginning of the month.
However, I see this year is going to be a good one for GPU mining, for me is still profitable.

Hey miners,

I want to know that Which altcoin mining more profitable?
I heard one of my brother now less profitable ETH mining. Reason, ETH price below $1000.
So, I am so curious to know which coin is better for mining now?

Thanks in advance.

When I entered in this crypto world I would liked someone to told me this:

1.- Try to mine coins that are ASIC resistant I like the ones that have cryptonight algorithm and cryptonote protocol, but decide for a coin that their difficult is not big, this decision will allowed you to have more coins, to me if a mining process do not give at least 1 unit of a coin per day, is not worth it.
Why ASIC resistant, for this machines have high cost and in a very low time they are useless, use this ones only if you know how to configure them correctly and they can arrive in proper time.
Why cryptonight, for you can mine it with a regular PC or even a one GPU and get some profits. Even though right now exist some ASIC for this algorithm but that is other history, for almost all the cryptonight coins have alredy fork.
2.- Take some time to create a wallet of different coins and have a miner ready to mine.
3.- Find a place where you can sell them in an easy way. It has to be a place that at least have 1 btc in the buy and sell orders per day of the coin you are looking
4.- Look for new projects, for them will have a low difficulty to mine, as soon you found them more coins you will have
5.- Keep these coins as long as your emotional intelligence allow you to do it.
6.- If you do not find a new project enter to https://www.cryptunit.com/ an point your miners to the most profitable one. However, remember this advice, sometimes the value in each trade platform is very different to the one showed in scorecards pages.
