mine was horizontal and after a few weeks it just broke - nothing was touching it, it was just sitting on a table with nothing around it.
So have you tried resoldering it back on?

Does anyone know if BFGminer for Raspberry pi has been updated yet to include auto-restart?

I don't think I ever updated those binaries since most people self-compile on pi's. I'll get around to pushing an updated release for these with some fixes after im done with the full node update for the Apollo.

How is the Apollo project coming? Any updates on updating the Moonlander software?

So I screwed up and dropped one of my ML2's. Now it no longer powers up. The USB connector was bent down some but I don't see any other physical damage to it. When I first tried it after the fall I could swear I saw the power LED come on briefly but now the 5-volt input is showing almost a dead short now.
I disconnected the fan and removed the USB connector incase it got screwed up somehow but the 5-volt input still reads .7-.8 ohms. Comparing it to one of my others I know this is not normal. I am assuming this is only a two-layer board so I don't have internal damage to the layers. Neither of the V-core or V-MEM outputs seems to be shorted when I check across there output caps. I don't know what else to check. Nether U1 or U2 measure a dead short on any of there pins but I can not Identify them from there markings. Does anyone know what these 5 pin devices are? U1 reads "RAGQ" and U2 reads "L2F" with a manufacturing logo on it that I can not Identify. Any ideas where else I could look to get this thing running again?

If the USB connector got bent, most likely one of the USB pin contacts got popped off the pad on the board. Just put a solder iron to the 4 pins and make sure they are soldered on there well and see if that does it.

I have removed the USB connector but still, I measure .6-.7 ohms where the 5 volts from the USB connector was soldered to the board.

I woulder if there is any hope for this poor dead MoonLander. I have not found the short yet! I guess I can start removing parts from the board to try and isolate it. I am thinking the two big coils first for the two power supplies. Any other thoughts?

Any updates on this? I would like to move a few Moonlanders on a pi off site but I can't be there to restart them all the time. Also, I was never able to figure out how to get BFGminer to start and run automatically when the pi starts. Can anyone help with this?

Hi, excuse me do you know how much LTC make monthly? Thanks a lot!!!

Just how much LTC you can mine depends on how you are mining them. These miners max out at about 5MH/s.

Hello,

Where do I find replacement fans?

thanks
George

LOOK AT THE LABEL--

Run a Google search on the model number on the label.  This is a generic suggestion, it is how I find replacement fans of any type.  Read carefully in the result descriptions so to match amperage, RPMs, bearing type, etc.       --scryptr

I LOOKED AT THE LABEL.  I was hoping someone else had some experience and insight that would help rather than asking me to do a google search.  Anyone can do that.  Crazy thought - create a community of Moonlander users that share ideas and experiences!

Also, I did a search and didn't find much.

Thanks

Page 81 of this thread has the last discussion about fans, Like I said you just need to look!

There is a lot of info in this thread about the fans, you just need to find it.
jstefanop was going to put upgraded ones on his website but I don't see them yet.

hi all,

I have a question, I fine tunig my 2 MLD2 to .725v and 756 MHz but when I restart program I have 19% HW error

WHat is the problem? I d'ont understand all its ok
I thought I should have been at least at ~8MH/s but this is not the case

someone can help me?

What are you using to power them? Maybe you don't have enough current to run that high a frequency. Do they run OK at a lower frequency?

Last I knew as of a few months ago the auto restart still was not ported over to the Linux ARM V2 tar download which is needed for the pi., or am I missing something?

I am using RPi with latest bfgminer precompiled binary, and it works perfectly. Auto restart of faulty sticks is there.

As soon as I'm done with the Apollo pre-order I will give some love to the Moonlanders. I have a bunch of updates queued for the driver and will be releasing a new version in the next month hopefully.

Can't wait to see what else you come up with!

Thanks for your reply. Is there anything I need to do to activate the auto restart? or will it do it automatically with the latest release?

I have been away for a while and was wondering if the Pi version of BFG miner has been upgraded with the auto restart yet? I have not seen any chatter on this since my last post.

I don't know the brand but we can do some math.
24 volts X 4 amps = 96 watts total available power.
96 watts divided by 5 volts = 19.2 total amps at 5 volts.
An ML2 needs between 2.5 and 3 amps.
So at 2.5 amps each, it can power 7 ML2s
At 3 amps each, it can power 6 ML2s

Hope that helps.

before replacing the fans, carefully take them apart by removing the rubber o ring from the shaft under the sticker and use some lithium grease on the bearing..
i did mine and now they are completely silent and been going for months.

Thanks for the tip! ordering some grease now, hopefully that does the trick. my only fear is that if it does, i'll start buying more moonlanders hahaha

These are sleeve bearing fans so they do need to be greased up once in a while. A bit of machine oil should do the trick. (like mentioned above you can unscrew the fan and get to the sleeve bearing by pulling back the sticker on the back of the fan.

I will also be listing fan replacement at shop.futurebit.io at my cost + shipping which will be under $5. If you want something that will last longer I would go with a dual ball bearing 25mm 5v fan which some people have listed here before. Of course these can get rather pricey.

Maybe you would consider putting the ball bearing fan on the website as an upgrade?

I've had my units for a while just running them on the initial setup on litecoinpool.org. I want to start mining DOGE or VERGE or anything else. I cant get BFGminer to connect to any other pool. it keeps saying I have input the wrong url or port. I have the batch file written just like before but with AIKAPOOL.com. Does anyone have suggestions?

You need to point to a Stratum Port. Read the help page for getting started when in the coin you want to mine.
IE for DOGE;  https://aikapool.com/doge/index.php?page=gettingstarted
