1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Original Helium Miner Help on: August 02, 2023, 12:08:25 AM
None of the above. This is the original hotspot marketed and sold by Helium (no longer available).

Helium support finally sent me the firmware file. I successfully flashed it to the microSD and got a green light back on the miner/hotspot.

Next question is, how do I make sure it is connected to the App again?

It's one of these. Literally the original hotspot, ordered from helium.

It has no model # on it that I can find.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Original Helium Miner Help on: July 29, 2023, 01:46:29 PM
I have an Original Helium miner that I purchased that absolutely killed it at one point.

The firmware SD card has since become corrupted and failed. Does anyone know if:

1. The original Helium Miner equipment is still viable for mining on the network?

2. Where to get firmware file for the miner so I can replace the SD card?

Helium support isn't emailing me back.

Thanks.
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S19 Troubleshooting on: June 01, 2023, 12:51:36 AM
I updated to the merge release 20221227070716. My previous update was to the November 2021 edition, so per the instructions (post May 2021), I went straight to this one.

Cannot explain the problem, or why fan 3 claimed to be spinning at 10800 RPM, but glad it is working now after a firmware update.

Strongly suspect there is a fan that was malfunctioning...

Thank you so much for the advice. Was about to post the log, but decided to update the firmware once more and, after a restart or two, the thing is running like a champ again. Wish I'd tried that earlier.

I already ordered 4 new fans for it, so if it does it again I will try the above advice. Thank you all. I really appreciate it.
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Antminer S19 Troubleshooting on: May 30, 2023, 11:44:09 PM
I have an S19 that ran like a champ for about 3 months and then one day would fire up, mine for a few minutes and then stop. I updated the firmware and that fixed the problem temporarily, but it is back. Seems to have one fan that is running 4+ times as fast as the others.

Any suggestions?

(I've done lots of work on S9's but not on the S19)

I did end up going with a similar setup. I used a different adapter from the wall to the three prong, but other than that, exactly as recommended. Ran it for hundreds of hours in the summer heat so far, no problems.

Currently trying to figure out how to make the d*mn thing quieter as my wife comes home and unplugs it every day.  Angry
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Help Making S19 Quieter on: September 06, 2021, 03:35:57 PM
I bought a cooler to do the enclosure trick I used to do with my S9. When I close it, the S19 promptly overheats.

I have shrouds to connect the fans to the ducting but I wanted to keep air going to the power supply.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys!

I have an Antminer S19 and want to Solo mine 1 day a week just for fun. I downloaded and synced the bitcoin core on my laptop but how do I solo mine with my S19? I cannot seem to find a good step-by-step guide.

It's one of these. 4 prong, standard dryer outlet. Home built in 2005.

You answered 99% of my question already, I plug into one outlet and then "Y" it to two inputs to miner.

I just pulled the trigger on an S19. I was planning to plug it in instead of my dryer on the 220 outlet. I notice it has two power inputs. How are people powering these in the US?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Flashed GPU Bios, Computer Won't Post on: April 05, 2020, 04:39:52 PM
I flashed an RX580 with a new bios and now my system won't post with that GPU plugged in. Unplugged, works great.

I can't flash it back to stock without booting first. Is it worth trying to hot-swap it in once the computer boots without it plugged in?

I have an ASUS b250 mining expert.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What to do with old Antminer S9 on: February 27, 2020, 02:03:01 PM
I've got two 13.5th S9's. I'm giving up on bitcoin mining, it's been 3 months since I cracked anything. Any advice what to mine with them? Any Altcoins worth the squeeze? Noob to non-btc asics. Appreciate the advice.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Clever Ideas how to mount P106s? on: February 25, 2020, 03:27:48 AM
I have a standard open miner case. I just acquired a bunch of P106s dirt cheap. Was going to add them to my otherwise all AMD rig. They have no brackets or fans. Any clever ideas how to mount them?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Surprisingly high Hashrate with R9 380s on: February 24, 2020, 11:08:06 AM
I'm using the most recent claymore. Pretty sure it's just an error at this point. No hardware problems. Running for 24 hours shows reported of 314mh/s (5 R9s all over 50mh) and two RX480s each at 20 something. Pool reports closer to 140mh/s.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Surprisingly high Hashrate with R9 380s on: February 23, 2020, 10:03:57 PM
Wish I could tell you definitively. I can't find my kill-a-watt since my move, just ordered another one.

What I've read is 190-250W and I am running at a 10% reduction. So, maybe 171-225W?

GPU-Z doesn't spit out a total GPU power number (lacking sensors?) but the VDDC power for my R9s is running around 63W on average.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Surprisingly high Hashrate with R9 380s on: February 23, 2020, 08:44:08 PM
My ethereum GPU miner had been down for 6 months after accidentally bricking an AsRock board while trying to update a bios. I've since purchased a used ASUS b250 mining expert. I spent last weekend installing my old R9 380 cards (because I had them) and fired the thing up to find that I'm getting >49mh/s per card with stock settings. Overclocking today, I'm getting >53mh/s per card.

I figured these would be worthless, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Can anyone explain why card that seem to be reported as getting mh's in the 19 range are getting 50+?
19  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [80+PH] KanoPool kano.is 10 BTC giveaway 🐈 on: March 21, 2018, 11:05:15 AM
Admittedly new to this (started mining in the pool last week) but should there be a delay between what it shows in my payments page, and what it shows in my software wallet (using Exodus)? The first two payments hit my wallet instantly, the most recent two (blocks 514430 and 514487) did not. Thanks.
