Virtual Reality definitely has a lot of room to grow. It'll be exciting to see where it leads in the next decade or so! Maybe one day they will get it to the point where we can be fully immersed in whatever VR world we are playing!
2  Other / Off-topic / Re: Most dangerous jobs on: May 24, 2018, 11:38:26 AM
I don't think there is a "most dangerous job".

In fact, you could even say Office Job is just as dangerous as any other. A typical office worker will be spending entire days and nights working the same monotonous cycle, paying years off his life just to make some money, and if they stick with it then as they grow older, they feel less and less compelled to change jobs. And then when they do get urges to change, they think: "but who will want to hire me, I spent the last decade or so grinding out this one job. I don't have much other experience". And even if that thought is actually untrue, the office worker doesn't know that.

You'd expect them to have some intelligence and go out and find a new opportunity, but then you hear all these horror stories about people slaving away at 9-5s, and you realise how many people can't or don't get up and leave. Then you find out that 8/10 Americans are slaving away at a desk all day.

By age 70, you've retired with a pretty comfortable sum of money, but you've got 10 years? 15 if you're lucky. So go have fun and enjoy yourself, but then realise eventually that, every year that passes, your body is deteriorating more and more rapidly from age. Being old and fragile sucks pretty bad huh? And that's assuming a lifetime of sitting down for 9-10 hours every day hasn't caused obesity, arthritis, diabetes, cancer and a wide variety of heart diseases.

Now granted, everybody that commented before this are not wrong. There are dozens of professions that are more inherently dangerous to a person's immediate health and well being.

Construction worker? They risk falls to the deaths, electric shocks and the frames of the building they are working on collapsing on them.
Policeman or fireman? One risks being shot or stabbed on the job, while the other risks being burned alive to death.
Journalist? Many journalists go to places most people would rather not go to, places plagued with famine, poverty and terrorism.

And countless more. And I'm not ignorant or naive enough to think working in an office for 9 hours a day sitting in a comfortable chair typing away at a laptop is more 'dangerous' than say, getting called up to a hostage scene with a dozen other police officers, and trying to stay calm because inside the building, innocent people -- people with families and lives and personalities and consciousness, could have their lives ended if you or your fellow officers make a single miscalculation in how to proceed. And how you or a co officer could be shot and put in the ER any moment.

HOWEVER....  Like I said earlier, I don't believe there is a most dangerous job. However, working as a police officer or fireman or journalist or construction worker and making an impact on the society and city you live in, versus working an office job where you're just helping a rich person get richer... One of these will likely leave you feeling lost and regretful by the time you retire, and the other will leave you smiling and showing pictures to your grand kids of how cool you were back in the day. And that is where the office job becomes just as dangerous as any other profession. Not to yourself at the present time, but to you 50 years down the line. The only reason why it isn't MORE dangerous, is because while most other professions will leave you satisfied and happy and excited to tell stories 50 years down the line, those professions may also get you killed way before that time comes.

3  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much money do you need to be absolutely satisfied? on: May 24, 2018, 10:54:06 AM
Enough money to do 3 things:

Firstly, to provide everything I need and want without me having to worry about spending too much. Stress about finances is one factor that causes hesitance to pursue what we love and want.

Secondly, to provide for the people and friends around me. Generosity, benevolence and being kind to the people around you are helpful in maintaining a healthy mental and social well being.

And thirdly, to know that down the line, if anything were to happen to me, my family will be able to live a life that is not plagued by poverty and thinking about if they are going to have lunch to eat.

4  Other / Off-topic / Re: What kind of food is good for fat? on: May 24, 2018, 07:49:23 AM
Balance is key. You need to have a healthy amount of everything. And that should be what you should be focusing on first, to create a solid foundation of nutrients so your body has plenty of building blocks to grow with.

Let's begin with meats, as they are the cornerstone of any diet looking to build up muscle and strength. (afterall, you don't want to be as weak as a teenage girl when you're in your mid 30s) Make sure to focus more on chicken and beef, as these two will often have the best meat to fat ratio among the choices at your butcher. You don't necessarily have to be eating both every day, but make sure you're consuming a generous amount of either one of these at least on 4 different days a week.

Diary? Go for whole cow milk. Contrary to what popular media and your family and friends may tell you, whole milk is better for you than diet or lite milk (whatever they are calling it). It contains all the necessary fats and nutrients that lighter types of milk will likely have lost. Two glasses of whole milk every day (1 in morning, another at night) will be more than enough to satisfy your diary requirements. Speaking of diary, oatmeal (or any form of fiber) is also necessary for healthy bowels and digestion.

Seafood is also important to include, as they're a very efficient source of protein, omega 3, vitamins and minerals. Some of the best (and tastiest) seafood choices you can easily incorporate a couple times a week include tuna, salmon, and sardines. Some more expensive and exotic choices that you probably wouldn't want to be 'shelling' out your wallet for more than once every week would be scallops, oysters and clams. (pun intended, yes)

So now you've got meats, diary and seafood. Let's move on to the most exciting part, you guessed it!

Your greens (and often reds and blues).

So vegetables and fruits, they aren't all created equal. Sure, nearly all of them are beneficial in one way or another and buying a certain produce even by accident, will never be a mistake. However, what are the best ones that you should be prioritising for? Well, they are avocados, blueberries, spinach and broccoli.  They're not exactly hard to implement into a diet, and the taste and benefits you get out of eating them is immense.

So to summarise for anybody reading;

- chicken and beef
- whole milk, along with sources of fibre like oatmeal
- tuna, salmon, sardines
- avocados, blueberries, spinach and broccoli

These will easily make up the foundation of any balanced diet, and best of all, costs under $70 a week, leaving you with plenty of freedom to innovate and explore other produce and ingredients to mix into your diet!
5  Other / Off-topic / Re: What small detail can tell you a lot about a person's personality? on: May 24, 2018, 06:18:58 AM
I think a small detail you should look for is how they walk, stand and present themselves. I guess you could call this a person's posture or stance, but a better word would be aura. For example, a person that is shy or nervous would shift a lot and fiddle while standing. A person that is confident in themselves would stand with their body lined up straight and would be noticeably more sure of themselves and their position.

Of course, sounds great! A simple life, surrounded by nature. A perfect way to retire and live out the rest of your years!
7  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is a sign that someone is a genuinely good person? on: May 24, 2018, 03:34:58 AM
People who are good are kind and aren't worried about being better than others. They simply want everybody around them to have a good life, and they themselves will do what they can to provide that.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the reason why we really need Bitcoin? on: May 24, 2018, 02:51:51 AM
Lack of centralization would be first and foremost. The income that it can passively or actively generate (depending on whether you HODL or day trade) is not a 'need' per se, but can arguably be as big of a factor in the need for Bitcoin's growth and survival.

11  Other / Off-topic / Re: does 4 hours sleep a day can keeps your mind active? on: May 02, 2018, 12:42:17 AM
Yes. It will keep your mind active however for how long is the question.

Too many nights of 4 hour or even 5 hours sleep, will slowly degrade your physical and mental health. Aside from the obvious fatigue, you will also suffer short term effects like inability to focus properly, being more irritable, memory implications and difficulty maintaining a train of thought.

Long term effects are even more severe, and can range from mental issues like depression and severe paranoia, to physical issues like diabetes, dementia and heart failure.

Ideally you would want to get at least 8 hours of good quality sleep every night. In the worst case scenario, you should at least be getting 7 hours.

It is the cool and trendy thing among many, especially young people nowadays, to brag about how little sleep they can get away with. The truth of the matter is, the people that can get away with just 4 hours of sleep every night are usually "natural short sleepers", meaning they were born with a gene mutation which, by altering their sleep homeostasis, allows them to sleep less but recover as much as a person sleeping for 9-12 hours. People without this gene that are only getting 4 or 5 hours of sleep a day over a prolonged period, will despite their bravado, become inevitably plagued with many of the issues mentioned earlier (depression, loss of brain cells, diabetes, heart failure and so on)

(Read the research here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2884988/)

My recommendation? Go for at least 7 hours of sleep a day if possible. If you don't have enough time to sleep for a continuous 7, then just sleep for as long as you can and make up for the sleep you missed out on, by taking naps throughout the day. Even just two or three quick 30-minute naps every day will go a long way in providing recovery time for your body and brain.

Nah, there's definitely life out there. No way we're the only life in the universe.
13  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Criminals and Bitcoin on: May 01, 2018, 07:46:03 AM
You're completely right. Bitcoin being used for crime isn't because Bitcoin is evil or bad. Anything can be used for malicious purposes, and criminals just happen to use Bitcoin.

Best time to buy was 8 years ago Smiley Next best time is now, dollar costing average is the safest way, but definitely don't just wait for the "perfect" time, because that will never come
15  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We created a site featuring merchants who offer discounts for bitcoin use on: April 20, 2018, 01:19:04 AM
Just reaching out to the community, how many people have spent their crypto online? What kind of merchants did you use, and how was the experience?

16  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We created a site featuring merchants who offer discounts for bitcoin use on: April 18, 2018, 11:32:37 PM
We now have 77 coupons from around 70 merchants!

Also added a bunch from Monero's Project Coral Reef project (Up to 15% off various retailers when you spend with Monero)
17  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We created a site featuring merchants who offer discounts for bitcoin use on: April 16, 2018, 11:11:45 PM
There are no Ads in the page, and it's (making it) clean. I'd also checked and there's no malicious programs either, that's great.
I bet that the current daily visitors count isn't that phenomenal, right.
But as one of the pioneers that offers services like this, you may gain the mainstream's trust after a while which is all you need to be on top.

How do you monetize your service? If you don't mind.

Thanks for the kind feedback. We do have a few ads on some of the coupon page, but we tried to keep the homepage clean!

Currently, we dont really have any monetizing, except for a few ads and some affilliate links, but our focus right now is on bringing as many awesome deals to the community as possible.

If the merchant had us choose between offering and affiliate commission vs extra discounts for the customer, we would always choose a better deal for the community.
18  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We created a site featuring merchants who offer discounts for bitcoin use on: April 16, 2018, 07:55:50 AM
Thanks for the reply Smiley If you spot any cool crypto merchants, let me know and we can approach them and see if they can come up with some good deals

Another WP blog you means ?  https://bitbargains.io/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fbitbargains.io%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

Nobody can trust a business service based on a CMS like yours.

Thanks for your response,

Appreciate your viewpoint, but I am just wondering what is wrong with Wordpress?

Our service is in convincing merchants to offer great deals for the crypto community, and then connecting these merchants with customers. Wordpress is just a tool that we use to convey the information in a nice usable way.

Love to hear your thoughts!
20  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: We created a site featuring merchants who offer discounts for bitcoin use on: April 15, 2018, 12:23:08 PM
Thanks for the feedback guys!

About a week in, we have now over 40 merchants who have agreed to give discounts for crypto use (a few of them are general coupons that apply to both fiat and crypto, but at least you can get discount with crypto Cheesy )

We are still waiting to hear back from around 70 merchants, and have a list of another 100 or so we are slowly contacting, it's taken alot of work, but the support has been well worth it. We have already reports from some of the merchants who have had several successful crypto sales!
