241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] Poloniex - Crypto Exchange with BTC/NXT on: October 10, 2016, 08:56:11 AM
Is there someone from Poloniex that can please help?  I initiated a withdrawal of BTC which is now stuck in "awaiting approval" status despite confirming the transaction via email.   A moderator suggested to populate more of my information which I did only to get a message that I must now close my account because I am NY State resident.  Now, I can't even access my history.  I really don't want this transaction which is stuck in "awaiting approval" status to get lost because I must now close my account.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AMP - The Currency That Powers Your Attention On Synereo on: September 21, 2016, 07:01:46 AM
Yes, I feel the same way.  I'm just trying to find some good ICOs to invest in.  To be fair, this project seems really awesome and the Devs have great backgrounds and giving it really strong support. But, the ICO price seems to be on par with what's the going market rate or a bit more expensive.  Current ICO is also 50-60X higher than original ICO from what everyone is saying.  So, it could be overpriced at this point and just a little room for more growth. I could be wrong though, and it could go up just as much.

I read that the original ICO was 250-300 Amps for 1 dollar.  Is it worth it now to buy 5 AMP for 1 dollar (which seems to be the market rate at Polo) or is it too excessive?

I don't think we are going to go back to those prices. You either buy now or risk being able to buy 0.5 AMPs for 1 dollar later.

easy there
in the moment the market price is 0.0003 BTC x 600 per BTC = 0.18 US$ per AMP
(roundabout)

there is so much dam hype going around it is hard to get a grip on what is actually going on !
honestly i am surprised to see the Dev's being part of that hype - really a downer i have to say
i belive in this here as much as the other guys but i suggest to take this down a notch of the hype level as it starts feeling "weird" and desperate !

Oops I forgot I had $115 Million dollars in an old wallet.  Really??  Does common sense tell you that one can just forget that large amount.  He should be brought up criminal charges and put away for life in a cell right next to Madoff.

Boy, am I glad I missed out on this coin's IPO.   It appears as if the developer's did the absolute minimum once they collected their IPO and half assed the launch with non functional wallets and miners. It's kind of shameful and pathetic on their part that you have to a take a risk on downloading from a third party just to get involved in this coin. With all that BTC, and they can't even post functional wallets/miners! It just goes to show you how much support you're going to be getting from these developers in the future on this coin.  Shame on them!

From the last couple of pages, it also seems as if the bot nets / big whales have gobbled up this one (expect impending big dumps) rendering the whole decentralized feature pretty much useless.  The IPO investors are the victims here as the writing is on the wall for this coin and the sad part is the developers are probably on to their next IPO scam using a completely different user name.

We seriously need more transparency into the identities of coin developers so that we're not blindly trusting greedy people with our hard earned money that are just going to go around and copy and paste code and move on to the next dump (I hear the reason why these developers took 2 hours to launch was because they kept failing at "anonymously" uploading the non functional wallets which goes to show you how much faith they have in their own coin).

251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Did we found the real identity of the creator of Bitcoin? on: March 07, 2014, 07:30:15 AM
Good poll.

I think it is him.  Though their are legit questions, for sure.  Biggest two for me:

1) Why he'd go to such lengths to hide his identity and then be using his real name ? Doesn't make a lot of sense to be so paranoid and then...use your real name. But is conceivable if you consider he never expected bitcoin to be so big that people would try to track down every Satoshi N in the world.

2) Why he seems to have financial and health problems yet never tapped into his bitcoins.

I think it is him though... people are complicated. And often, the more intelligent the person, the more.... complicated their personality is. People are not fully logical and the contradictions seem to be consistent, so ya, I think it is him. I'd say I'm 70% sure if I had to put a number on it.

I think I can answer the first question.  He never expected Bitcoin to gain this much popularity.  If you look at his last posts before he disappeared, he was against using Bitcoins to fund Wikileaks because of the publicity it might bring. I actually now think that might have been the reason why he vanished in the first place.
252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto's P2P foundation profile makes a reply on: March 07, 2014, 06:00:23 AM
Now that I think about it more... I am inclined to believe that it is him.  By coming back online to post that he is not Dorian confirms that he may actually be him.  Why did the real Satoshi not post that he is not who the media asserted he was the many times they made claims about his identity before?  Coming out all of a sudden and especially RIGHT AFTER the news broke is a very high indicator that it is him.  It's just too much of a coincidence.

Also, after seeing his video interview with the AP reporter, his body language and facial expression has guilty written all over it.

With that said, I think the media should leave him the hell alone and respect his privacy.  If he wants to stay anonymous, then people should just plain respect that and move on.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Media hype and deceit! Lies after Lies! Corrupt media! on: March 07, 2014, 01:47:27 AM
If he prided himself on anonymity and being reclusive as the article mentions, why would he use his real name then?   This is nothing but a publicity stunt.

it is a difficult concept but until a cryptocurrency finds a way to prevent pump and dump, no coin will truly stick around

Pump and dump happens because the products at hand have no real value, and everything just rides on pure speculation. Fiat runs solely because people accept them for goods and services....

Really? I've been mining Nobl for 2 months and buying amazon giftcards directly and buying gpu's with them and getting a 12% discount to boot. No BTC conversion fee's and no fee's for fiat change as well. I'm doing newegg cards there now as the price changed in neweggs favor for what I want.

Where are you buying Amazon giftcards from?
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Reboot Sunday March 9th on: March 07, 2014, 01:25:57 AM
I am wondering if the store will be set up to give live updates on price or not. I think it's going to be a wait and see coin.

As the store won't open till 2 weeks after the coin launch, it's in people's best interest to keep the coins. But by the time of the store opening the coin price could drop a lot and people may panic. But this is the word of crypto currency.  I just really hope this coin works out.

As a question for the devs,  do you have any rough idea on a release time? I.e. earlier in the day or later on the night?

I think it will, we will just make it work out Wink . The dude isn't a wolong and is proving to be a stand up guy for the most part. That's a good start.

"To pull a Wolong on someone"  Tongue

Its about time the phrase gets added to the urban dictionary...

"You just got Wolonged"... waahahahahhaha!!!

That's comes 2nd to getting "Goxed".
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Reboot Sunday March 9th on: March 07, 2014, 01:24:51 AM
In theory, the initial value of GPUC should be 71.51792382BTC / 325,000,000 coins (the IPO amount and the number of coins issued), for a value of 0.00000022 BTC per GPUC.

There will be  28,800,000 new GPUC mined every day (20,000 GPUC x 60 blocks/hour x 24 hours), meaning that the IPO holders have 11.28 days worth of coins at the outset.  This puts the IPO holders quite firmly in control of the value of this coin... anybody would be a fool to sell at less than cost, and they hold enough of the market share (still 50% of the market after 11 days) to be able to set a good sale price for GPUC.

As to actual value, as it stands right now, it sounds like the CEO was able to order 80 GPUs.  If we assume that he spent the entire IPO on them, that would leave each GPU worth 4,062,500 GPUC (325,000,000 GPUC / 80 GPUs) at most.

What happens to the value of GPUC once it hits market will be anybody's guess, but I would assume that as long as the IPO holders do not dump that the price will remain higher than 22 satoshis and GPUs will hopefully go for a couple hundred thousand GPUC instead of 4 million.

With its unique purpose of being used to buy GPUs, I don't think market cap or any other tool for comparison to other coins is useful in any way. At the end of the day, the only numbers that really mean anything are these:

How many BTC ('y') can CEO get for 'x' GPUC,
How much USD$ ('z') can CEO get for those 'y' BTC
How many GPUs ('g') can CEO get for those 'z' USD$
And fair market price = x/g (plus a bit of markup for the business)

The market will determine what it sees as a fair market price for GPUC, and the cost of a GPU in GPUC will fluctuate according to the exchange rates of GPUC/BTC/USD$, and I don't think there is any way to set a particular price point as long as those currency exchanges need to be made.

Great analysis. Smiley  I for one will be holding my initial IPO shares for a long while as I'm looking at this for the long term.   What I like about this coin is that it won't be solely based on speculation as all the other coins are.   If this coin turns out to be a huge success, it would be the biggest come back that I've seen in altcoin history.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Reboot Sunday March 9th on: March 07, 2014, 01:21:05 AM
Has anyone heard back from the CEO regarding upping their IPO? Anyone know if its still available?

I just got an email that all refunded IPO investments have been purchased, so IPO is officially set now.  All that's left is a successful launch.

What's going to happen to the stakes that are going to free up?  Will there be another round of signing up or will NEM shares be split among the remaining shareholders?

Well, its now down to $30 and tanking... It looks like everyone is jumping ship to the next coin.   The hype is over.

I'm sure he can.

I could place my bulk order and get those for $320 via amazon (20% discount). They were in stock earlier, they're getting more this week.

Just wanted to follow-up: Full refund is finally confirmed. Thanks and good luck to all.

How did you get a 20% discount?

gc4btc.com helps out. You can talk to the owner and he'll get you bulk amounts offline. I keep giftcard in stock weeks before Amazon restocks. Newegg usually has them in stock longer because they charge more and put limits, so they're great if you absolutely have to buy something, but Amazon doesn't care if you order 5 or 90. I'm sure GPUC will get good pricing when they finalize their partnerships.

That's good to know. Thanks!  I actually order a lot of stuff from Amazon (books and all sorts of household appliances) and have a prime membership with them as well.  Any other sites that sell discounted gift cards that you would recommend?
