121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FedoraCoin (TiPS); New style, new services, same unique features on: September 19, 2014, 05:22:34 AM
How and when can we meet online so as to discuss and thrash out these ideas?

Lets not worry too much about the coin quantities... there must have been a very good reason the initial crew decided on that number. Trading and making a profit off the coin should be the last thing to tackle. Otherwise, if all we are going to do is to cater for altcoin speculators, we could as well let the coin be.

The foremost issue is: What value does TiPS offer to the people at large? What space, in the big picture of the world economy can TiPS offer real value and thus gain its value?

Hi icanprogram and MystPhysX, would it be possible to create an app where TiPS users can trade discounts/offers for TiPS in a dedicated market?

MystPhysX, will you enable the richlist?

Hi

About the Tipping, do we have a strategy? Or is it inspired by the moment?

I'd prefer a clear cut strategy, with a target/deliverables. An example would be to identify people in whichever industry, my pet is Hospitality, so I would select 10 or 20 medium to small players in this industry and tip them a sizeable amount, say 1Mil TiPS, accompanied with an introduction letter outlining how TiPS would add value to their customer service and retention. Meanwhile, I'd negotiate with a few of them to tie down an offer/reward for redeeming TiPS at their establishment. If done right, the offer's/rewards from one service provider can be set up to trade against/with the rewards from another service provider. The end game would be to set out TiPS as the medium of exchange for Tips, Offers, Discounts etc within the Hospitality Industry.

What do you think? Do we have real good copy writers among us?

Edit: I have set aside 50M TiPS (EYQdzmdY22BZpM4tWjqptN8EgvrpZMyoUn) to start this off. 5M TiPS to the best cover letter to go to major Players in the Hospitalism/Tourism Industry that explains the use cases for the 1M TiPS that will be sent to them. The community will decide on the best. A time limit should be imposed so as to move this project forward at a steady clip. The remaining 45M TiPS will be sent out to 45 Firms in the hospitality industry as an introduction to TiPS.

Hi id10tothe9,

The problem to be solved: Imagine if you had frequent flyer miles, or a discount at a local pizzeria that you could exchange with a discount at a fashion store. I got the Fashion store discount, you have the frequent flyer miles... Both of those have a monetary value that can be swapped or exchanged. TiPS could provide the framework or means of exchange.

So using TiPS as a currency: The store could give and receive TiPS, and the Airline too. Problem is getting them to accept TiPS. So we target the people using the services. Let it be a peer to peer exchange mechanism for Tips, Offers and Discounts within the current fiat business model. Hope that makes sense.

Otherwise, My Windows Wallet V.1.1 does not sync. Tried creating a .conf file, nothing. Do I revert to the V.0.6?

Right off the bat, "without much thought put into it", I'd propose that TiPS be a commodity.

The vision I have of/for TiPS, would be to act as a carrier of value. Using the concept of colored coins, TiPS could be used to represent Frequent Flyer Miles, redeemable coupons at hotels, tour operators, (generally, offers and discounts in the tours and travel industry). The TiPS blockchain could be used to track and enable the transfer of such value between the holder's and issuer's of those coupons.

The Inverse could be: Coupon's, rebates and whatever offer's in the industry could be priced in TiPS, with a marketing push setting out to convince the establishment to accept TiPS as a cross-industry Tipping currency... but that would give the issuer's an upper hand.

The premise behind all the above is: While we tip the waiter's and whoever else in appreciation of their service, the inverse occurs when the establishments tip us with offers, coupons and discounts to retain us as clients. So a currency/commodity that balances out the equation, globally, would really aid in the accounting of their various marketing pushes. ... 0.5 TiPS.

Just bought a few TiPS and will donate 10M to this endeavor. Its win - win.

Otherwise, how about targeting the Points/Miles/Tips market in the travel and tours industry? Roll the points system into a reputation system running on the blockchain for all parties involved. My vision is to allow the smaller players in the market to gain traction and well deserved ratings that can be verified in a decentralized manner.

Pseudo-anonymity would allow the coins to be "colored" with the trip/safari that they have been through. A coin could arrive at your address with a whole storyline traversing the world from Maasai Mara to the Hilton, all implemented in the coin. Travel operators could purchase the coins to tip their customers, coloring the coins with redeemable discounts, which add value to the coins and would be exchangeable ( I have a trip to Hawaii, but have discounts in Malibu, a peer to peer exchange could list all available coins with their "color", and we have a way of exchanging value beyond the coins)

Please futher expand upon and refine this idea into a workable and practical solution.

129  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoin Advertising: CrowdFund a Fashion Reality TV Show on: July 26, 2014, 09:14:19 AM
The Association of Fashion Designers - Kenya (www.afdk.co.ke), in conjunction with Mcensal School of Fashion (www.msf.co.ke) are in the process of organizing the Safari Fashion Runway Reality TV Show (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Safari-Fashion-Runway/655365057868254) of which the auditions have already been done. The traditional funding sources seem to want to buy out the idea, as is usual with most business sharks. So I suggested to them that they could get funding from the bitcoin community.  Grin

As posted on reddit www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2bm0rb/crowdfunding_opportunity_to_bring_bitcoin_to_high/ :
There is this Fashion Show coming up soon to TV in East Africa, and so far, it seems the traditional funding mechanisms are not working optimally. The Financiers want to buy off the show from its creators, at a very poor rate. My "brilliant" Idea is to have the bitcoin community fund it. With 384 BTC at today's rate, we get to be the prime sponsors and we get: *Main event sponsor and inclusion in event title.

Since am rather new in this scene, there could be trust issues, and since some of the greatest beneficiaries of such a move would be bitpesa.co, I suggest that they handle the due diligence and actual implementation.

Lets do this!
