1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Tidecoin: Post-Quantum Security Bitcoin | PoW only | CPU friendly algo on: December 15, 2021, 10:06:02 AM
In the Russian theme of this coin, one user asked a question:
Quote
Schnor's signatures together with Taproot solve the problem of Bitcoin's potentially weak signature on elliptic curves ?
Is it really so?
Any thoughts on this?

No. In fact this fork makes it worse, as taproot signatures aren't hashed.

Here is a list of all pools - https://miningpoolstats.stream/tidecoin
My question is - do need special addresses to ensure quantum security?
Is tidecoin currently quantum secure or will it be added in the future?

In order to be quantum secure, blockchain needs to use PQC signature scheme from genesis.

Any crypto which isn't using QR signature scheme from genesis is not quantum resistant as old addresses needs to be migrated manually by users or burned, to prevent lost coins being stolen and dumped.

Tidecoin uses from genesis Falcon 512, NIST finalist for PQC competition.
Falcon is both stateless and of compact size, which makes it excellent choice for blockchains.

Talking about potential, why do you guys buy altcoins?  Yeah I understand it could be greed dancing in your mind when you think about gains but anyway, why buy shitcoin rubble when you can simply invest in bitcoin. All shitcoins are guided by the same principle: bitcoin up -> shitcoins up; bitcoin down -> shitcoins down. Why buy shitcoins if you can secure your gains with bitcoin and make the same % you would with a shitcoin except you would shuck additional volatility ingrained in shitcoins.

Bitcoin is first, important cryptocurrency, but it doesn't solve problems many altcoins solve or try to solve, which gives them value.
Currently Bitcoin's main use is pretty much just store of value.

Then, there's the quantum computing threat to all cryptos using ECDSA/EdDSA in signature schemes, projects which are truly quantum resistant are the ultimate future so easy to see value there, I doubt many vulnerable cryptos will survive Y2Q.

That's just my opinion.

I bought 4000 tdc coin with 400doge coin in March and now the price has increased 70 times! What a surprise!

2 weeks ago I took on 0.22 DOGE, the price was pleasantly surprised, I think this is not the limit.

Agree, there's a huge potential here, especially as first quartering already happened and Falcon is NIST's finalist algo of choice for blockchains due to compact size, in comparison with Crystals and Rainbow.

Projected TDC worth at:
#1000 CMC - 0.9 USD (x3.6)
#500 CMC - 5.8 USD (x23)
#100 CMC - 96 USD (x384)
#50 CMC - 273 USD (x1093)
And let's be frank, most crypto at CMC > 100 is half jokes, half dead projects (with exceptions) and 99.99% will be worthless anyway when quantum computers crack ECDSA.

Comparing Bitcoin to the internet is deeply flawed.

honest question: why is this deeply flawed? please elaborate.

Internet started as an idea, which later was implemented as ARPANET (which most people nowadays have never heard of).
The idea lives, but it is a collection of myriad of technologies, networks, protocols, cryptography, devices etc..
It's not one thing, it's all of it.
Greatness of the internet is that everyone can use it and benefit from it, but it's not an asset you can buy.

Bitcoin is code and data, which uses cryptography and was intended as a trustless digital currency to allow direct transactions, however it is more store of value since, and more so as its value rises.
Greatness of the Bitcoin is the concept, the idea, and that doesn't need BTC to live, same like internet doesn't need ARPANET.

There's a lot of more accurate analogies (key word is analogy), for example, what Ford T is to the idea of vehicle, Bitcoin is to the idea of currency.

For now, lot of people believe it is safest and most rewarding asset you can own today - me included, otherwise I wouldn't be BTC hodler.
All I was saying was, no one can predict next 10y. I doubt Satoshi 13y ago ever thought what it may become and be used for.

with all respect, you did bring some arguments why one could disagree on the comparison of the internet protocol with the bitcoin protocol, but nothing that screams "deeply flawed"

the internet is a protocol to exchange information between participants, permissionless, open access software development, lots of open source.  all the tricks that the internet is capable today are rooted in the mere storage and exchange of information. a very mighty protocol.

bitcoin is a protocol to exchange monetary value peer2peer, permissionless, open access software development, open source. all the tricks that the bitcoin network is capable today are rooted in the mere storage and exchange of value. a very mighty protocol.

both are network protocols. my question remains: where is my comparison "deeply flawed"?

Thank you for the discussion so far. I'll leave it here as I don't intend to upset people on this thread, and despite constant off-topic in here (I'm F5 addict to this thread, but very rarely speak) this subject is like a stick in a hornet nest to some - without disrespect - Bitcoin fundamentalists.
Let's get back on the wall watching.

Shitcoins are at it again.

I guess now that bitcoin is dead and there are massive bugs in the code, it is time for all the institutions to divest and inject it into the one true coin.... Chainlink, or perhaps "insert random shitcoin name".

lololol, shitcoins. Some real long-term potential right there.

History is littered with technologies and companies which were too big to fall or too ignorant to innovate.

Bitcoin is the biggest and undisputed crypto asset right now, but this is not guaranteed forever.

Ignoring a lot of interesting and potentially disruptive development in the altcoin space is short sighted.

After all, isn't it exactly what banks, big names and investment funds have been saying about Bitcoin, until they didn't.

stop the shitcoinery asap. this is not the place for marketing scams. bitcoin is a protocol for money in the same way as the internet is a protocol for information. do we have 7500 different internets? do we have "potentially disruptive development in the alternative internet space"? why not? the innovation in the webspace is happening within the network.  innovation and disruptive development can and will happen only within the bitcoin protocol.

before we move on, we all need to be on the same network, the same track, the same language.

we are trying to get a unified measurement implemented globally. a measurement for value. imagine the engineers of the world came up with 7500 different ways of measuring length. confusion much, eh? no engineering possible, you know?!

for fuck sake, stop posting crab about shitcoins.
So difficult to have a grown up conversation?
Please remind me which "shitcoin" I've marketed in my post.
I didn't, I won't, and I'll keep hodling my BTCs.

It's also surprising how someone who is in BTCs doesn't understand it's technology.
Comparing Bitcoin to the internet is deeply flawed. I would suggest to learn more about Bitcoin and blockchain, it's definitely worth it.
It was first thing I did when I bumped into Bitcoin in 2012.

Sell all your bitcoins for shitcoins . The Oracle has spoken

Thank you for the valuable advice, however I'm going to keep hodling my BTCs.
I'm also going to keep an eye on the road.

About camosoul and ozziecoin.

They live in 2D world, one line, full ahead or reverse, no moderation, no left/right/up down.
Things go well according to their minds they'll shout and rave in praise.
When it doesn't, it's exactly opposite.

If only they could open their eyes and realise the real world & life is so much more complicated.
It all starts when one fails to acknowledge (not necessarily agree) different point of view. It's a very slippery slope and ends living in your own delusions...
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | DarkSend+ Is Live! on: August 17, 2014, 09:53:35 AM
The price is rising again, we're back to 0.0055

I actually think it is a good thing that the price has dropped like this because it shakes out all the weak hands that had unrealistic expectations and those that can't tell the difference between DRK, which is trying to reinvent the wheel, and other anon coins which are rife with problems or are merely adding trusted mixers to the blockchain. Once those "investors" are gone the coin will be in better shape. Plus the accumulation of stronger hands will concide with the tech being in better shape (compared to previous rallies) owing to all the work the devs and testers have put in.

If you can get BTC ready fast enough this is the time to accumulate.
I agree. Now the last weak hand we need to get rid of is camosol. He is a horrible, negative person. I hold him responsible for at least a few million in market cap decrease, by hijacking this thread with his repetitive negativity and aggression, just because some community members would not acknowledge his issue. This cry baby should really get over himself, the possible issue is tracked in JIRA and will be looked at. Camosol, please dump your coins and never come back. We don't want you. Your attitude belongs at cloakcoin. I will be more than happy to lose another million in market cap due to you dumping your coins. It's for the best of Darkcoin on the long run.

Well said.
He caused enough damage with his rumblings, he is useless.

Bunch of crap.

You Sir, won the official Bitcointalk award for the most annoying, stubborn and unintelligent trolls ever.
Day by day posting non-existing issues under the false "concerns" for the "people".

You are making joke out of yourself, and your trolling is very obvious.
Go back to whatever scam coin you hold.
I'm surprised that folks here still carry on discussion with you. Back to ignore.

Sold my MN on 0.015 and bought XC on 0.0015.. 15BTC become 25BTC.. yeah, I'm stupid until others prefer to wait their 1DRK !? Daily !? Jesus...

Look, you sold your DRK, fine. Why come troll here? Stay happy with your XC or whatever, end of story.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 06, 2014, 04:16:01 PM
How many MN we have at that time?
How can you explain linear lowering of the price immediately after RC3?

Seriously, read it back and think about it. What you said made 0 sense.
If you had a massive instamine, you would sell it over the weeks with the high price, while running bots keeping price up.

Not to mention, that you could get away with a lot more, as the volume was 5-10 times higher. So what you say is illogical.

200-300 MN make no difference to the exchange price, sheep will dump anyway for whatever price at the market, fact that you have more locked changes nothing.

All of you dumb fuck sellers deserve to be curb stomped for being so fucking stupid and moronic. Seriously, fuck yourselves you dumb cunts.

PS: I banged your grandma.

And to all of those greedy fucking piles of rat shit who refuse to pay Masternodes: We should organize a DDoS to take you down for being so fucking greedy and stupid. Maybe then you will learn your lesson. Most especially that collection of goat testicles known as Ghash.io who routinely near 51% on bitcoin because of their shortsighted greed. It's no surprise they are fucking up another coin because of their insatiable desire to be pieces of shit driven solely by profit.

Take it easy.. it might be Evan and his partners selling their instamine on the market with so many locked coins in MN.

Surely... if that was the case, don't you think it would have been smarter to sell over long weeks with price > 0.02 ?

FUD is FUD, no logic.

Mining is over 3 times less efficient.  Unless that ratio starts to change, miners will drop off to the point that the coin is in danger due to low hash rate.

The impression is of the rich just getting richer and the little laborers getting sweatshop pay, and it's a huge turn off.

No...
Less miners means lower diff and higher block reward = more incentive to mine.

It's very clever, self balancing system.
