41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Knowledge is the foundation on: August 27, 2018, 11:50:04 PM
Those are wise words, and I wish I had done more research before diving in. It can be very easy to get lured into a lot of self-promoting material when starting out. And for new people, it can be difficult to find what is objective. I agree that starting at the very basic foundation is the best approach. If more people did that in the future  I suspect that this space would be calmer and less dramatic. Cheers.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any advice for a newbie? on: August 26, 2018, 06:20:50 PM
Welcome to crypto world. Sounds like you are off to a good start. I would continue to gradually increase your holdings while focusing on research. Get a good grasp of Blockchain and the history of bitcoin. I’m glad to hear you have a hardware wallet on the way - that shows you have thought about security. My main tip would use common sense when getting advice from others - especially about what coins to buy. Remember that nobody can predict the future no matter how many years they have been in this space. I’d say be patient and as smart as you can with you money, find a balance of diversification that works for you, think about your plan for “taking profits” during the next bull run. I think you are on the right track for success. Cheers.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Patience is the key on: August 23, 2018, 08:26:17 PM
In generally agree with what you are saying. Yes patience is key and that virtue is often lost or understated in crypto. However I think that being prudent in the coins you hold long term takes a lot of care and research. You want to hold coins with long term prospects and not coins that you ride down to zero value. I’m positive though that with careful choices (and some diversification) that patience indeed pays off. Cheers.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best wallet for altcoins? on: August 22, 2018, 08:33:06 PM
He answer really depends on your amount and use for the coin. Longer term storage of larger amounts I would recommend a hardware wallet or other cold storage of course.  As far as apps go, I have not been very impressed with Ethos yet. I have been following Gem in their work on making a universal wallet. They seem to have the right vision, or at least one that is aligned with what I am looking for in a wallet. But you’ll get a lot of opinions for wallets on the app side. Cheers.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC or ETH in 2018 on: August 22, 2018, 04:52:43 PM
in the near term I think Ethereum has a solid chance to make some solid gains relative to bitcoin, as ethereum could go up as bitcoin price moves sideways.  But positive ETF news could move more money into bitcoin. In the long run, I am really optimistic for the overall potential and value for each of these coins. They are here to stay!
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I need some Altcoin to hold longterm :D on: August 21, 2018, 07:32:13 PM
I recommend looking at the top 20 coins on coinmarketcap. Then find the projects that you think will still be around and doing well in 3 years based on your own research. I would diversify amongst 3-5 of these projects. If you like more risk repeat the same process with the lower market cap coins. Nobody has a crystal ball to reflect the future. I find it best though to invest in projects you believe in, take calculated risks based on your tolerance, and do some diversification. Best of luck.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Many think crypto is dead. It is not. on: August 19, 2018, 10:57:54 PM
I agree.  Crypto is certainly not dead.  It has been declared a failure so many times but keeps on coming back. People fear what they don’t understand. And there are of course big money interests that want crypto to fail. But crypto has a ton of momentum behind it and this innovation is here to disrupt and is here to stay. Cheers.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My BIGGEST cryptocurrency mistake on: August 18, 2018, 04:18:37 PM
My biggest mistake was not taking more profits at or near the top of the last bull run. I let myself blindly think the bull would continue and was caught off guard as the bear market started setting in.  I’m more of a profit taker now and will certainly die that during the next bull run. It certainly helps mitigate your overall risk. But even though I made that mistake in the past I’m optimistic that we will ha e a strong bull run and folks will end up fine even though some feel left holding the bag at the moment. The question is when the bull market will come. Cheers.
49  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this the end of Bitcoin ? on: August 17, 2018, 06:18:15 PM
“The end of bitcoin” topic comes up in every bear market. Bitcoin has stood the test of time. It has proven to be immutable and secure. It has survived field, negative media attention, and much more. Bitcoin has survived every challenge. Yes the price will fluctuate but I am very optimistic that bitcoin has the strongest staying power across all crtypto.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ultra low market cap projects you are watching on: August 17, 2018, 06:12:33 PM
I’m not asking for where you put your money or asking to shill. Im looking for any solid projects that aren’t very visible yet that have a solid foundation and team. Perhaps something you are keeping an eye on to see how they progress before investing. I know there are great projects out there that don’t get much attention. Curious what the community members here are looking at in this very small cap space.
I’m more interested in long term possible potential than making a quick buck on a trade.
Thanks.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest Now!!! on: August 17, 2018, 05:41:42 PM
I think this is a good time to invest. Could the market go lower? Yes it could. Is it difficult to time the bottom? Absolutely yes.  If you have confidence that we will meet or exceed all time highs then now is a great time to invest. I would not get caught up on catching the very bottom. I’m really optimistic the market will return. It’s just a matter of when.
So if you have the patience and will not sweat missing out on a possible slightly lower price, then I would invest now.  Cheers.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Is going to hit 200 USD? on: August 17, 2018, 12:55:23 AM
I am also surprised by how low it has gone but anything can happen in this kind of market. Volumes are low and people are tethered up. I am optimistic about the long term aspects for ETH, both as an investment and its utility. Nobody can tell you if that will happen in 3 months or 2 years though.
Cheers.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Use cases for ERC721 (ethereum non-fungible tokens) on: August 16, 2018, 05:27:16 PM

I’m interested in thoughts on potentially high impact use cases, beyond cryptokittoes and decentraland. Do you think this token standard will have a big impact on the future of ETH (price, utility), or will this standard be more of a novelty that never realizes true staying power and only has transient impact on crypto?
I’m not even sure of any big impact projects that use this standard - interested if people know as I’m trying to learn more - it’s certsinly an interesting protocol but not sure of huge uses.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: price ethereum no movement on: August 16, 2018, 12:27:05 AM
This pattern is fairly typical for this kind of market. Bitcoin has obviously taken a beating this year, and at the moment it’s alts which link up closely with Ethereum. I’m hopeful we’ve seen the bottom. It could be a rocky ride for a while longer but I’m optimistic for late this year.  Cheers!
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Long-term investment. on: August 15, 2018, 04:40:46 PM
As a long term investor you need to be prepared for the various ups and downs. And be extra cautious about projects - only invest long term with those with staying power (BTC, ETH in my opinion).
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Am I late to the party? on: August 14, 2018, 07:56:43 PM
No you are not late to the party. You can’t view not getting in years back as a rationale. For example just because you didn’t invest in Apple in the 1980s does that alone make it a bad investment now?  Crypto is going places in my opinion. And the market is down right now which makes this a ripe opportunity for you. Just be cautious with what you spend as it’s tough to say what this bear market will bring.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it true that every end of the year so many Crypto-holders are rich? on: August 12, 2018, 11:11:34 PM
There may be some tendencies here as others are suggesting but please don’t bet your bag on it. The past can give insight and perspective into the future - but it does not give guarantees. Cheers.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Knowledge for Newbie on: August 11, 2018, 01:14:57 PM
I’d say learn while also putting very small amounts into top 10 coins. Actually “doing” will help you get familiar with Blockchain, wallets, projects, etc. Agsin, I would start very small and consider it part of the overall learning adventure. Cheers.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Is going to hit 200 USD? on: August 11, 2018, 12:21:33 AM
I could see visiting $250 again before this is all said and done. $200 hundred is so painful to imagine but would be a good buy if you think the bull will return.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to move to BTC on: August 09, 2018, 12:34:46 PM
Honestly I go back and forth on this. I think money moves to bitcoin during a bull run, which drains alts to an extent. If new money comes into the picture (ETF etc) then I hope BTC makes huge gains and alts may benefit too. I’d be happy with a bull of any type as this bear winter has been too long.
