21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it risky to buy not top 100 crypto currencies? on: September 13, 2018, 09:46:37 PM
I think it depends on the project. The risk may be higher but marketcap doesn’t necessarily correlate one hundred percent with risk. I suggest going after high quality projects across various sectors of this space, and also look to diversify across large and small cap projects. Cheers!
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEPTEMBER. on: September 12, 2018, 11:21:25 PM
Hey! So I don’t think anyone can really give you the assurance you need with high confidence. Nobody is a fortune teller.  What is known is that the markets are extremely down right now relative to any point this year, and depending on the coin line up fairly well before the last bull run really got legs!  I recommend dollar cost averaging noting that sure you may be buying more on the way down but at least you will not miss out on what most folks would call a tremeous upside. Just be patient with the money you invest since we don’t know when the best will go to sleep. Cheers.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Tactics When Market is Falling on: September 12, 2018, 11:35:39 AM
I try to keep perspective in this kind of market by looking back at where the markets have been in the past. That certainly helps keep me calm. If you are not trying to trade this market then holding makes sense as long as the coins you hold still have future value (speculative but based on your own research). I would only sell something in this market if something about the project changed or if you had reason to think the project could not survive the bear market based on financials and such.  Hope this helps. Just remember to hold on tight! Cheers!
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Really? Next Bitcoin is Litecoin on: September 11, 2018, 05:09:59 PM
I believe both bitcoin and litecoin will have utility long term. Yet that depends on whether transaction speeds for bitcoin ever compete with litecoin at a broad scale. I like the analogy that bitcoin is gold whereas litecoin is silver.  Bitcoin is not going anywhere in my opinion, and will very likely be the number one coin in the long run. Litecoina value is more difficult to estimate long term, even given that this whole question and my comments are highly speculative. I like holding both litecoin and bitcoin - yet litecoin will always be a rather small fraction of my overall portfolio. I hope this helps. Cheers.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH to hold now or not? on: September 11, 2018, 01:59:26 AM
I suggest holding and try to be extra patient in this market. I still see a ton of utility for ETH and do not think that the ICO concept is dead. Even outside the ICO model there is so much that ethereum has to offer. I plan to take profits during the next bull run but the last thing I would do now is sell ethereum. Best of luck! Cheers.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I like to collect the token on: September 11, 2018, 12:38:04 AM
Well your strategy differs from many yet I can see your point. I also like watching my modest portfolio and the coins in my wallet (or by a block explorer). I think that is due to some nerdy fascination with the technology. And of course since you are not checking prices that would put you in the longer term holder category of investor. And if you are not savvy with day trading I think that holding is a sound long term approach. Cheers.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is weird on: September 07, 2018, 05:29:46 PM
I agree we have not seen the bottom yet. And I understand why people are reluctant to buy as this market moves sideways and down. Yet dumping at very low prices makes little sense to me in the scenario you presented. There are certainly folks who need to dump so they have free cash available. But many sellers may have gotten in at various price points or are looking to tether for now with anticipation that prices will go lower so they can then buy back in. I’m hopeful that as crypto further matures we will see a more rationale market.  Happy trading.  Cheers.
28  Other / Archival / Re: ICO without whitepaper on: September 07, 2018, 12:01:44 AM
If a new project does not have a white paper I don’t think that automatically means it is a scam. Yet it is worth investigating further before even considering investing. White papers have become expected and a key way to convey what a project is going to do. I would ask where such information resides and be cautious. Cheers.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH is now dying, what do you think? on: September 05, 2018, 03:03:49 PM
I do not think Ethereum is dying. The price has had a challenging several months - including  today of course. In my opinion the fundamentals have not changed for ETH in any negative ways. It will remain the chain where new projects launch. We may see further lows before the bear market is complete. I would hold on tight to tide this out. In my opinion we will see new all time highs for ETH but it is challenging to even make an educated guess on when that will be. Cheers.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Patience is the key on: September 04, 2018, 10:59:45 PM
I fully agree that one needs patience in this space. Your example was over the short-term though. I’d emphasize that long term patience is needed sometimes - as in a year or more. I’ve been in crypto for a year which isn’t much by many folks’ standards, yet I’ve seen some really good yet also turbulent and bad times. So I’m mentally prepared for a multi year strategy since I think we must be near the bottom and I’m too stubborn to take a loss on projects that I believe will bounce back, based on my own research. Best of luck with your trades!  Cheers.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hold your coins in multiple wallets on: September 04, 2018, 07:05:08 PM
I always recommend a hardware wallet. Assuming the seed words are secure then your main vulnerability is where you decide to send your tokens. If I had a large investment in crypto (mine is fairly modest) I’d consider using multiple types of hardware wallets (Trevor and Ledger, etc) just to spread them out among multiple wallets as well as multiple technologies. For many I think the low cost for one hardware wallet makes good sense. But more than one is overboard unless you have a really big investment. Hope you have better luck in the future with your coins. Thanks for posting this as security must be taken seriously. Cheers.

33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My Future in Crypto on: September 04, 2018, 06:39:06 PM
I would not leave my day-job for crypto. I tread my crypto adventure as an educational and investment hobby where if I (and crypto) are fortunate will land me with some potential for early retirement. I basically use my free time to learn as much as I can so I can make good investment decisions. I see going all in (house, job) as a major gamble. This space is volatile and the best way to manage that in my opinion is keeping a level head, being objective, and not giving into impulses. I’m hopeful for the future of crypto but I would not bet my job security or house on my investment decisions. I should point out that my professional skills do not map well into actually working for a crypto startup. If they did I would approach that decision the same as any career change (risk to benefit). Cheers.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why does MEW usually have trouble? on: September 04, 2018, 01:30:00 PM
Hello, in my opinion issues with MEW are largely due to human error. I do not think MEW is really set up for use by a fresh crypto novice, yet there is plenty of training available on their website. And external factors like viruses and dns attack’s are hard to control. So folks need to be careful, just like all things crypto. My best advice is to be smart with how private keys are entered into MEW. A hardware wallet is the best way to use MEW. For me, I tend to use a mobile wallet app for very small amounts and value of tokens and ETH. Otherwise I’d suggest a hardware wallet. Cheers.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is crypto making the world go crazy? on: September 04, 2018, 12:30:07 AM
Well I guess it’s easy to go overboard when it comes to something new and exciting like crypto. You mentioned selling a house as an example. I don’t see why folks would over invest like that though. The only way I would leave my job for crypto is if I found a great opportunity working for a Blockchain project. But overall it’s easy for folks to get caught up in crypto fever. I think it’s human nature. Yet it’s of course best to be objective in crypto like any investment. Cheers.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What keeps you motivated to Hodl? on: August 30, 2018, 02:32:46 PM
What keeps me motivated to hold?  I only invest in projects that have long term potential based on research. This gives me confidence during s long bear market. I also only invest money that I don’t need anytime soon and can keep tied up in my buys for a very long time. This helps since I’m not itching to get my money or profits out of crypto to apply to other things. These two things keep me able to hold without much of any effort on my part. Cheers.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should invest on ripple or litecoin ? on: August 29, 2018, 07:00:16 PM
I think litecoin is the safer bet but perhaps the one with less gain. If Ripple is successful with their plans with XRP then this could be a use case that makes currency adoption of lite coin seem small. I really like both coins, yet on the time horizon you mention I would buy and hold XRP. Cheers.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest to Ripple? on: August 29, 2018, 06:03:43 PM
I think XRP is a good investment. From a mid-term view there is no reason to think it won’t reach all time highs along with the other coins in the next bull run. Long-term I also think it has potential. Of Ripple is successful the value of XRP could be quite massive. That is yet to be seen of course. I think the concern on centralization is often overstated. Ripple has their XRP in escrow. And I suggest checking out how many nodes Ripple has with “votes” compared to others. Ripple has made good effort to keep XRP decentralized. It’s in their own best interests to do in my opinion. But of course you have to do your own research mate. But I’m pretty optimistic. Cheers!
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Airdrops are worth it !!!! on: August 28, 2018, 04:28:27 PM
I agree that airdrops can be worth it. As you said, research is important here. I’d rather focus on a few airdrops than cast a wide net chasing everything out there. Airdrops bring some good attention to a project, and ideally a community that is genuinely interested and engaged. Also to some extent I can see fewer ICOs long term and some pivot towards airdrops for PR and community building while being VC backed on the financial side. Cheers.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats your biggest mistake up to now on: August 28, 2018, 12:02:21 AM
My biggest mistake has been holding coins that decreased in price while I also generally lost some belief in the project. I should have taken profits when I had the chance so that at s minimum I was “playing with house money.”  I still have a tendency to hold on tight, and this bear market isn’t the best time to sell anything. So I’m learning to cut my loses and understand that the net funds I get out can be put to better use. I’m optimistic that as I get more experience I’ll have a better outcome. I’m also trying to keep an eye on rebalancing as well as over and under diversification. Cheers.
