I just had a very stressful moment where i thought i lost my ICO waves. Partly my own fault, but i think the wallet creation page could be improved to prevent this from happening. And i can't imagine being the only one affected by this.
What happened:
I tried to login to my waves wallet but the passphrase (seed) i had saved generated a different address than the one i had given on my ICO page. It was the wrong seed, i had lost access to my wallet! What must have happened: when i created the wallet, i changed and added some words in the seed and then forgot to click "generate address from seed, to update the address that goes with the new seed. Then i copied the (old) address and pasted in on the ICO page. The waves were sent to this address. Now, weeks later, i find out that seed and address with my waves in it don't match. Luckily i was able to remember (after a panicky half hour or so) the changes i had made to the seed and managed to reconstruct the correct seed. What a relief.
Suggestion to the dev team: Instead of having a "generate address from seed" button, make it so that the address is automatically generated as soon as you type or paste anything into the "wallet seed" textbox. That way the address ALWAYS matches the seed.
yea apparently that was a wallet bug in the first version of the litewallet, but it was fixed in the first update
but something like this shouldn't happen you're right
