1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIRAL] [PO Ninja Launch Today @ C-CEX!!!] DPoS 2.0 + 5% Dev:Adam Guerbuez on: May 08, 2015, 12:28:03 PM
I hear Adam say something about porting Viral into a QT wallet plug in, did I hear that right?

Actually that was my idea originally. I am working on it in connection with the bounties announced in the slack chat. it's a way of porting the Viral mechanism onto any existing QT wallet, so while staking from a different wallet you can show as an active viral node. Adam had a similar idea but more browser based. We have been discussing my idea as being more practical for an earlier iteration. if anyone has any thoughts or comments they are welcome.

Interesting idea. I would propose that you make the plug in architecture QT generic but coin specific, and actually run your metrics through each particular coin. That is, for example, a Doge plug-in that allows any doge user to be a node and collect revenue in Doge. Of course the revenue and metrics go in and out of Viral, but that can be strictly under the hood. Many coins have identifiably different user bases and that would be an attractive segmenting method for advertisers.

In addition, one could allow a subnode to recruit a coin community and profit for this effort. For example if I am a Blackcoin dev, i am incentivized to build out and offer the plugin because effectively all Blackcoin users who opt into using the plugin become part of my subnet.  And the effort to do this is decentralized, ie not coming from Viral. So expanding the network this way is very frictionless.

Personally I am still on the fence, counting my nickels.

However the kerfluffle about "released BTC" seems rather silly to me.

If the Dev team was inclined towards "using the incoming BTC to buy the rest of the crowdfund" - - they could do the exact same thing by simply using their own btc "to buy the rest of the crowdfund". It all ends up in the same place - with the dev team. With a total of 100 btc so far it's not exactly a huge amount.

And even if they were doing something silly like that it would be pretty obvious when the crowdfund is over and everyone can see who bought, in the crowdfund meetings etc.
That behavior would come to light before the ICO played out. So they would be shooting themselves in the foot doing something like this.

What seems more likely is that the newfound indignation about "released BTC" is the first attempt by some person ( or group of persons) during the last 24 hrs of the crowdsale to spin the percentages of the final amount and come out on top, as one of the 10 top buyers with the very attractive resale clause.

My guess is there will be more of these attempts here during the remaining hours. One would hope the attempts would be a bit more fleshed out, at least for the entertainment value.

I am also skeptical that we have seen the last of the list updates. I bet we see one more.

Let me just explain where you have this wrong my dear friend.

There is no rest of crowdfund because there is no limit, only total coins 2.5 million divided by btc invested X 2 (ico 1 + ico 2).

The more they rinse the btc through the more they own and the less investors own.

Pushing initial marketcap up and raising the chances of severe dumps when it officially launches.

Don't forget they will attempt to sell this at +30% on an exchange once forum ICO has ended.

The higher they push it now the more they stand to gain on ICO round 2 on an exchange.

Will be my last post in this thread, it's sad they dragged BayAreaCoins into such a vulnrable / questionable scenario.

Wow, one of the paid fudders responded to my post. I am so complimented.

Let me explain to you why you need to up your game when it comes to fud.

1)There is a "rest of the crowdfund" and there is a limit. It is the remaining 2.5 million coins.

2) Rinsing statement: somewhat confused and mathematically circular. Somehow the investors disappear....? Not sure what you are trying to do other than work the word "rinse" into a sentence.

3) High marketcap is obvious goal of any startup. "raise chance of severe dumps ...? " your logic please? People who are buying are looking to either hold or profit or both. This is where I am making my descision today.

4) The crowdfund is a price discovery mechanism. How much the public chooses to by on ICO is also a market cap discovery mechanism. Taken together, both these processes  establish the opening trading level when Viral hits the exchange.

5) Your dramatic farewell and crocodile tears for BayAreaCoins are noted. But I am quite sure he is a big boy and can run his own life. And anyhow, he is an escrow agent. By definition that means he is not 'dragged in' to anything. He is impartial.

Anyhow, good luck with the rest of your fudding. Pro tip: make sure you collect from your employer before he reads your posts. : -)

Interesting. BobSurplus and BTC Architect trying to out-psyche each other in the last 48 hrs of a quiet crowdfunding that the coin devs have apparently done as little as humanly possible to promote. Add in a viral networking model designed to spread via social media. I smell whales. Small fish, get ready to run with the big fish.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AT vs. Ethereum - what direction are we headed in? on: January 29, 2015, 06:54:23 AM
Escapes me why so many projects feel they have to tear Ethereum down in the process of explaining their own virtues. As for the comment about refusing to look at Ethereum, there is a good reason they are building their own browser, and its a very interesting one. To say that people  will not want to switch their browsers is to say people would never want to switch from autos to air travel. Ethereum envisions a different web experience for the average user. Not just of the same web, but a different kind of web in which the current web is just one dimension.

Personally I am no Ethereum fanboy but I think it is a very interesting project.

OP: I would have been interested in learning about AT but the OP does not say what it is or link to any information.

Hello SuperNET,

I invested a small amount in SuperNET during the ico.  Bought some Bitcoindark too.  Researching different wallet setups now.

Lots of innovative projects and an energetic community.  Excited to see how everything evolves.

Good for you. Feel free to get involved and help out wherever you can - noassh can send you a Slack invite if you like.
Is there a chance to join Slack just to follow news about SN and related projects?

just pm for an invite. its a good crew in there.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] xCash : First Coin Feat. 100% Stealth Anon - NEW xChange P2P OTC on: January 28, 2015, 12:17:46 PM

....

Thanks for doing this! For the lazy among us, I will put the information into short bullet points:

Minor problems:
  • Testing takes a lot of time: Compiling with QT is becoming increasingly hard/impossible, especially on Mac.
  • Codebase is messed up: The code is a combination of several things making it hard to use and improve on it. This makes it hard to do the (database) things that are needed for the market
  • Documentation: Normally when you improve on code, there is some documentation on the earlier written code to give some guidance. Here is none

Major problems:
  • Blockchain too big over time: Over time the ledgers of will become too big to handle for users and for the market.
  • Ledger insufficient for xMarket: the current ledger is probably not capable of handling what the market requires.

Proposed solutions :
  • Rewrite Source: Write new source in something like XOJO that will make it easier to compile the code.
  • New database: Use the database of XOJO calles SQlite
  • Document code well: This will make it easier for developers that join to add to the code.
  • Fixed ledger:Only use the history of a certain range of the last blocks to speed it up.

What now?
x11joe is in control of the code so can start to work on it from March and the community can buy into it with xCASH. This will be a more realistic long-term project of which it unclear how long it will take.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is this SuperNET everyone is talking about? on: January 27, 2015, 09:57:41 AM
No, it's a joke.
It just for pump and dump.

If you are referring to VPN it might be worthwhile to look at it again. It's a working decentalized VPN coin in a country that just banned VPNs.

Unfortunately I do not have a copy of the post and it took a while to write that, if anyone has a copy let me know, I will see if I can post something again this time writing to Google Drive first to ensure I don't lose what I write.  It appears a lot of people lost their posts recently.

Would it be too much to ask for a short summary of the key points?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ryan Pumper: Pumpers Picks (Updated Daily) on: January 23, 2015, 01:51:24 PM
Don't you guys get it?

Read cryptojerk's last post carefully. He goes a little too far, u see that?

But until then he was doing well promoting Ryan & keeping this thread bumped : -)

Is there anything special one should be doing if one has supernet in the original NXT wallet since the token exchange?

Seriously, can someone answer this for me? I do not have any familiarity with NXT.

update your NXT client to 1.4.7

https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-4-7/

Thank you.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitBay |Decentralized Marketplace|Smart Contracts|IoT Tech|Markets Open on: December 13, 2014, 08:16:49 PM
Can the people that have been scammed, and with all the fraud that's been committed can 'we' the community sue the devs and bter?

Anyone know law?

You all claim to have records which you will have to hand over otherwise you will be withholding information which is also a crime.

I would like to state im willing to continue the coin as promised make my personal involvement transparent. My history, how i was hired on and clear my name. Ive never scammed anyone lets make that very crystal clear. I'm looking for peace. I can do in my power whatever is needed to make the coin great. Investors only suffered so far a minor drop. I'm of the impression Bob and Ryan sold most their coins already.

I think Steve & BTER will also be willing to do help as well with what is left of the funds. In the new thread we can take the full communities response (the real one not the paid fake one). Everyone, lets move over there please.

For investors I'm strongly considering a 1:1 exchange. My dev schedule has suffered a small setback because of this. Nothing that we cant push forward from. It can be positive and transparent. It will be. Thats why I was hired for this license.

Thank you.

And what about everyone who sold at a loss when this coin tanked when the news of your partnership with Bob Surplus came to light? and the fake BTC at Bter? what does your compromise offer mean for them?

Hello Yes thank you for continued support. New Op and 2.0 technolgy coming soon we like david he very good.

Only lawyers involved if they continue. It will be the least of their troubles I assure you.

An official statement is coming with all my wallet addresses, txids, etc etc etc etc

I recommend you lock this thread and any other ones you started and control.

People have lost money based on the fraud you were involved with, and now you are threatening legal action if people don't stop posting in this thread?

Am I reading this correctly?
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BitBay Thread |Decentralized Marketplace|Smart Contracts|IoT Tech on: December 12, 2014, 07:22:29 AM
If this is the new "official" BitBay thread, can we expect a statement from BTer on their role in this fraud, the fake BTC etc? Since they are apparently 1/5th owner of BitBay?

No evasions please crypto-steve or Zimbeck. Answer the question.

Reminder, Bob has 619 Bitcoins.

Reminder, you were apparently in with these thieves from the beginning.
