Trying to piggyback on the success of DarkCoin? Nice try. Little too late, little too ancient technology. Next time release 2 years earlier.

awwww thats cute another kook is mad cus he didn't get in on monero <3

I am drinking your fucking tears, collecting them like rainwater, mixing them in to my top shelf margarita

sorry for the stupid question guys but witch is the difference between bytecoin and monero (except price) and why monero is having more success? Huh

Because more people have not missed out on it for the past 2 years. Its only like 2 months old

bytecoin was 80% premined and has shady devs and bad intentions

monero is what the people made when they found out about the premine.

Bytecoin will be dead pretty soon, monero is the kyrptoknight coin which everyone likes.

hey guys I just want to let everyone know I have filled out 2 tickets from cryptonote and both were responded to in like 45 minutes, whoever is running that exchange i doing a great job!

Not to fud, but i have not been able to withdraw from poloniex...not sure how to follow those vague directions they give. Anyway, happy trading!
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 19, 2014, 06:26:25 PM
Guys I have a bunch of coins on cryptonote I am kind of worried

I tried to withdraw...my balance on the exchange reflects the correct number after the withdrawal but the coins are not in my wallet

I was wondering if this coin is a good buy, but I saw that this coin traded for 80% less than yesterday, why did it go down so much?

Your chart is upside down?

https://poloniex.com/exchange/btc_mro

Zoom out and you can see the first sale took place around 10k sats which is an obnoxiously high price so the calculator is displaying a loss because it is incorporating that initial outlier into the analysis

now quit trolling and buy monero. these are still DIRT cheap this is not the ground floor gentlemen, this is the basement. Hurry up.

First off, i wanted to ask, i have been mining in mine.moneropool.org for hours now, with 20 to 40 hr/s but havent received any monero, is that normal?
You will be paid out for each block that we find, after it has 60 confirmations. Since our last block was 4-5 hours ago, it is normal that you haven't received any MRO.

Why would you have to be the one to find all 60 of the blocks> I thought as long as 60 blocks were found by ANYONE then the transaction would be confirmed...

what does COMMAND HANDSHAKE INVOKED OK mean?

I hope I am not asking questions that have already been answered a bunch.

is there like an official guide or something?

hey guys

I finally manned up and decided to try the command line style wallet instead of waiting for the gui

i am having trouble syncing though. The blockchain i downloaded was from today, posted by a gentlemen a few posts back, it was like 143 mb. My machine is telling me it is a VLC media file? I tried renaming it blockchain.bin but the machine still is saying it is a vlc media file.

I tried putting it in the roaming folder and the folder where the simplewallet is at but neither of that seemed to work.

Also, would someone mind explaining to me what a "daemon" is or what it does? How is that different from the wallet? Do you have to have the daemon and the wallet both open in separate command line boxes in order to send coins?

Thanks for the help, can't wait till the gui wallet is avaliable...toring coins on the exchange for now because I am afraid of messing up and losing my coins

What operating system is this?

The uploader of that blockchain didn't specify the OS or 32-bit v. 64-bit so I'm not sure what it corresponds to. These are not cross-compatible. Download the blockchain that you need from the main post. Don't worry about the VLC thing, keep the name "blockchain" and the file type ".bin" just as you downloaded it.

Ok so I am supposed to make a new roaming folder? does it have to be named "Monero"?
Are the "simplewallet" "simpleminer" and "bitmonerod" supposed to go in the roaming folder too or can i put them wherever?

If you cant get the blockchain download to work, just start the daemon without it and wait several hours for it to sync. It will still work, the blockchain download is just a short cut.

The daemon is the core of the program. You run it in the background (another window) and then the wallet is another program you use, which connects to the daemon to function. In bitcoind, the wallet and daemon are in the same program but they are actually separate functions and somewhat separate pieces of code (being broken up more in latest versions). With this coin they are actually separate programs.

Thanks man I will just go ahead and let download!
Hope you don't mind I pick your brain a tad more,?

Ok so there are 2 separate functions, that makes sense. So is it like...the daemon stores/manages the blockchain info, and the wallet is just a way of viewing your position on the public ledger/send coins coins to another wallet?

I was trying to copy my address to send coins to the wallet but i couldn't highlight it so how can i read the wallet address in a way that will allow me to copy and paste it?

Is there a command to backup the wallet?

I understand with bitcoind, even if someone steals your wallet.dat they still need your encryption key to steal your coins. Is it the same with kyrptoknight? Is the password I made when I created the wallet essentially the same thing as the encryption key? Is there anything else I can do to help protect the coins?

Thanks for your help man I really like this coin a whole lot I see amazing potential here...cryptonote looks like the next big thing and i think bytecoin and quasar and honeypenny etc. don't really stand a chance against monero so I really am trying to overcome the steep barrier to entry!

Thanks!

just curious, how many blocks do you guys think a machine with an i5 4670k could find in a week?

I have a couple of gpu rigs but the cpu's aren't doing anything

an i5 4670k
an edit: AMD sempron 145
an A8 vision AMD laptop processor
and 5x Dell M6300 dual core?
i had these machines on darkcoin up till now but i believe monero is a superiors currency compared to darkcoin and would rather use our computing power to generate this one

my grandfather is a systems programmer for IBM as well as a former microsoft coder...and I am a miner...we have tons of cpu power around here...

anyone willing to help me figure out if i should put the time into mining this coin or not? est blocks per week with all these machines?

Or do you even want me too =P

An i5-4670K would manage about 20-25 H/s. This would get you a little less than 1 block per week (~14-15 MRO/week). You're not competing against GPUs and this coin is younger so this is probably more profitable.

you mean 25 hashes right not kilohashes or megahashes? so only 25 math problems solved per second? are these math problems much more difficult than X11 math or scrypt math?

so would you estimate with all the above hardware i could reasonably expect to solve 2 blocks per week?

I wouldn't buy at this price level.
It will return to 0.001 next few weeks 90% sure
Be careful when buying at the top.

Monero (MRO) is available for voting at ICURREX.com  Smiley

Hi,

I saw your site, looks great!

However, I immediately left and will be staying away from it indefinitely due to the fact that you ask for my first name, last name, and phone number?...I don't really have anything to hide but IMO you would not be collecting that information unless you planned on doing something with it, as it is completely unnecessary to facilitate exchanging of coins, this makes me nervous.

Furthermore, the ONLY time I have EVER been asked my name in the wild west that is crypto is when I am trying to sell bitcoin for u.s. dollars, which is understandable.

Wow, he asks for full name and phone number? Run away screaming.

Seriously, even for selling to USD, tumble coins that EVER are associated with your name extremely well.

Look, it's not a big deal, I am just wondering why I should give this guy my names and phone numbers when i can just buy from the cryptonote exchange? Does his exchange really add enough value over a normal exchange that it would be reasonable to require that much extra info?

not worth mentioning

If two parties hold widely disparate views on a subject with no possibility of reaching consensus it doesn't make any sense to me to give energy to the discussion.

that was some seriously logical shit man
