21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: March 21, 2016, 01:38:45 AM
Hi guys I am a noob but I have monero in an old wallet from 8.3.3

I have my keys file and address file and password as well. can anyone please instruct me on how to import them into the new wallet

To expand on smooth.

Make sure that if you upgrade, you upgrade on the same OS as where you made that old wallet. That is, if you made the wallet on Windows, you should download the Windows binaries and upgrade the wallet on Windows. Cross-sectional OS upgrading doesn't work as far as I know.

Thanks a lot both of you!

it has been so long since i have used monero i forgot exactly how to type a transfer command in and I keep getting Error: "Wrong address." the daemon says the block height is 1,006,000 roughly and I am NOT fully synced. so:

1. My deamon is not fully synced. is this the reason the for invalid address error?
and 2. what is the cause of this error (there's a good chance i typed it in wrong?)

thanks in advance

Why can't people with less than -1 trust just be instantly banned?

wait I am confused

You used to be the biggest xmr troll and dark coin supporter, no question about it and you didn't try to hide it you and icebreaker both if I remember correctly

do you like monero now or something?
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: December 07, 2014, 01:47:17 AM
Oh that's right you don't have one. You contribute nothing to the project other than FUD. (Want to buy lower do you?) Carry on.

Incompetent developers, i hope you did not make one cent off monero. Why ? Because you suck a**.

I'd be willing to donate 5k xmr to a reputable team of 2-3 new devs to work on the gui and json...

If you are in the monero-dev channel on IRC you will actually see that a lot of work is being done. Give me a proper reason to flame the devs?

No action in monero-dev for some time now, what are you f.. talking about.. Oh,  amonth ago onishin, fr pool owner, refused to update to the latest version because the code was so fucking broken.. Anyway, I mine at 600KH/s - at a huge loss. If i stop now, the network is almost completely at the mercy of the botnet herders..

What did you do to get such a shitty trust score other than talk trash

This is insane...I can not believe how cheap this shit is I was going to buy some a long time ago but the price was already pumped so high and then it pumped more and I was kind of disappointed..this used to be like 2 dollars a coin? now 2 cents?

Seems like it is impossible to go wrong here right?
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | SuperNET | MARKETPLACE | ANDROID | FILE SHARING | HTML5 WALLET on: November 29, 2014, 08:59:46 PM
Does anyone know where I can find out all the coins that are on super net?

Didn't all the coins on super net get an insane pump before they got on like vericoin and bitcoindark?

do you guys think this is the next coin to get stupid pumped?

Target exit points anyone? I got in at 900 my target was 5k but I sold only 20% to get the money back I think I should just wait and see instead of selling the rest

wait can someone help me figure out how to interpret this algorithm...

I am sorry but it could have been made a little more clear lol I do not understand what a comma means in the parentheses or what min stands for

It's certainly not a detailed technical differentiation, but here is a gif I just finished for sylviaplathlikestobake's art contest that compares btc, drk, and xmr: https://i.imgur.com/evtcybH.gif

Here is the link to the art contest, which is practically over at now (I'm a bit of a procrastinator plus I've been busy): https://forum.monero.cc/16/art/81/25-xmr-prize-for-the-best-monero-art-meme

Please let me know if you think there are any factual errors in the gif.

That is pretty impressive. and actually up until I saw this GIF I did not even think about the fact that you can't see anyones balance with xmr., unless they give you their view key of course... I don't know how I never thought about that. I have been with this coin since the original crypto note exchange and never realized that lol...learn something new every day!

Can someone help me with the wallet I am stuck on 208393...just tried downloading newest version still stuck on it

As far as I know they might be loading the same block chain from my roaming folder...

I think maybe you got on the wrong fork with an old version, and then updated. Not 100% sure, but I think you might want to just wipe everything in your data directory, and then download the latest bootstrap blockchain and put it in there.

So just delete the stuff in my roaming folder and put the bootstrap in there? yeah i think you're right about the forking thing

oh my fucking god you made your client a .rar file... please someone give me a Xanax before I go fucking insane and smash my computer screen because I am so fucking tired of people doing this bullshit

Do you have a fucking contract with WinRAR or something?

Is there any good fucking reason AT ALL why you would not just use a zip file. Are you seriously not aware that windows does not have any native software that can open this filetype and if you only give people .rars that have to download WinRAR or some other piece of shit nagware...why THE FUCK do you fucking do this

give us a fucking zip file asshole

Are you fucking kidding me?
Winrar/7zip..

You are one lazy human being..
Took you more time to bitch about the issue than actually solve it..
It takes one minute to download 7zip.
How fucking complicated is that?

Give your head a shake.

why don't you read my last post you dumb fucking idiot I know about 7zip and WinRAR my point is there is no good reason to force people to have to use third party software when windows explorer has a built in tool to extract zip files

7-Zip is a open source file archiver with a high compression ratio. GUI and command line options. GNU LGPL license.
http://www.7-zip.org/

7-Zip can extract .rar files.

I am well aware that both 7zip and WinRAR are free and can unzip .rar files.

The point is, windows explorer can extract .zip files. I do not want to have to download extra crap just to unzip something.

The compression for .rar is a little more efficient but this file is so small anyway its almost irrelevant.

Extra 4 seconds to download > Having to download third party software. always.

THANKS you inefficient motherfucker

If this were my thread, this and the shitty post before that would be a bye bye. Unbelievable attitude.

I'm used to being called much worse. At least you can see I don't delete posts just because people are assholes to me or about the coin. I only use it in very extreme cases

no one trusts a coin with a moderated thread anyway.

I just bought a bunch of your dumb fucking snowballs anyway so I have a large ball sack now

Wisdom from cAPSLOCK here:

It would be foolish not to consider the competitive danger of an "anonymous" cryptocurrency with both a network effect advantage as well as a sable codebase, a working disk based database and a user friendly front end at a time when dark markets are learning they are once again vulnerable because of public blockchains.

100% true.  The NSA et all were momentarily confused by the tech behind Bitcoin, but that moment is way past over.

I am not condoning the dark markets in any way, shape, or form..but XMR has a unique opportunity to be "that coin" due to the legitimacy of  its devs.

I agree but dark coin has a terrible distribution compared to xmr, with half of the currency controlled by duff. And the master nodes are a point of centralization.
