1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ardor on: May 14, 2017, 07:45:08 PM
First the coins at the top of coinmarketcap's first page were pumped, and now the coins (including Ardor) in the middle of coinmarketcap's first page are getting pumped. Ardor's only starting it's pump.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: May 14, 2017, 07:25:29 PM
1 Dogecoin=$ 1 and it's real, soon we will have a huge rise. So buy a coin.

I would be amazingly happy with 1 Dogecoin=$ 0.1, but I don't think it's possible till the end of the year.

I have more realistic expectations and I hope the price will be 0.01$
Which is not impossible because at one point the price was 91 satoshi

Yes, I'm more inclined to think the same.
Let's not forget: it's a free and wild market, so the price can vary a lot, including plummeting more than we would like. We who are here from the beginning know that this has already happened and can happen again.
I hope that the problem with the dogetipbot is resolved as quickly as possible.

Dogecoin's useful for making small withdrawals during the worst plummets. That gives it value and helps keep it alive during the bear markets that kill other altcoins.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: November 07, 2016, 11:09:33 AM
Uhm u think we can go to 20 ? I would love some doge at that price <3.

Doge at that price would be good. Doge always seems to do this. Staying stable for long whiles then losing value and going back up or the other way around. I think buying doge now or st least soon is probably a good idea. I'm not sure what will happen if it reaches near 20 maybe it will do the say as steem did lately.

I'm certainly still accumulating - every time DOGE hit this level before, I always kicked myself for not accumulating more. For me if DOGE <= 32 then is a great buying opportunity. Maybe it will be different this time and not rise - but I'm prepared to take the risk.

But i wondering how we can earn huge with doge if the movements takes for couple of days and rest came to stable? I think its not worth it for me since i don't intend to hold stable coins since i want a profit from it on the trades, i cannot say that staking doge is risky since doge is well establish to and have only little downfall and little ups,

For me investing in DOGE is about risk levels and mitigation - With DOGE you can't earn so much so quickly but the risk of the value dropping heavily is much less than other coins. I like to have a mix of coins that are of high and low risk. For me, on a low risk coin earning 10% on investment in a couple of days is good (but doesn't happen so often). When the price is so low if it increases by 1 sat the value increases or decreases by 3%, so there is good opportunity to ride the small fluctuations and set a bit aside for when/if the price increases.
I have rules set in my investment plan - such as I'll only actively buy new DOGE when the price is less than 38 and trade only with profits when higher, works well for me - but obviously I make (and lose) more on other coins.

People use doge to move money between exchanges quickly so there will probably always be good volume in the doge markets. Pump and dump coins can make you more money, but the buyers evaporate fast, and you're left holding the bag and losing more money if you get unlucky. Doge never runs out of buyers so it's a safer gamble.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FantomCoin FCN will be reborn under the XDN-project flag next week. on: October 21, 2016, 05:23:28 PM
To be clear we will keep the old FCN blockchain, will start new repo and will develop FCN side-by-side with XDN.

Will the code for both coins be almost identical after your takeover, or will there be big differences in the two coins? Will FCN be using PoA (proof of activity) in addition to XDN? Is proof of activity going to be exclusively used in XDN and no other coin you develop?

No, source code will not be identical, FCN will have no PoA, PoA is an exclusive XDN feature.
We will make a major FCN update and will develop it as a classic proof of work coin with merged mining (FCN+XMR).
We will release major FCN network improvements, will increase default block size, etc. Later this year we will introduce GUI for FCN.

Will you be setting up and paying for an FCN website and block explorers? Will you be paying for nodes to keep the merged mining running until there is some serious interest from miners?

It's good to have a new dev revive FCN, I hope the improvements make it popular again.

Nice result! Lawyer has spend over 10,000,000 YEN as his fees in "very hard" investigation, but hasn't investigated anything!

A great question is what they have been doing last 4 months as far as their result is 5-page report about nothing and new planned meeting (about nothing again I suppose) in 2017...

 Angry

Its all about Coinlab. They filled a lawsuit against the trustee and are trying to get all the funds that Gox had left in the end. This lawsuit can last for years.

CoinLab sued Gox in June 2013 for $75 million+, and the suit isn't over yet. It wants the lion's share of the Gox coins, and the suit could drag on for eternity.

https://news.bitcoin.com/coinlab-lawsuit-delaying-gox-payouts/

Quote
A years-old $75 million lawsuit against Mt Gox by U.S. company CoinLab is delaying payouts to creditors, the Japanese bankruptcy trustee revealed today.

There is only $10.48 million USD left of the money in Gox, and 202,185 BTC. The longer this drags on the faster that $10.48 million is being consumed by lawyer's fees.

Something coming based on chart

yeah, up or down probably. With a small chance for moving sideways.  Grin

It's up 4.44% today, but that could be noise, it could go back down 4.44% tomorrow. It will probably keep moving sideways until next year. The whales will probably keep accumulating until they get most of the coins, then pump it again.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Ripple is important in a diversified crypto portfolio on: September 07, 2016, 09:39:19 AM
The trouble is even if this fairly unlikely scenario of large numbers of banks starting to using Ripple came about, there is no direct correlation between the use of Ripple IOUs for things like USD transfers and XRP having any significant value.

For XRP to justify even its current price let along a significant rise, it would need to be used as a market making currency for lots of trades (eg Euro > XRP > USD) but I really don't see that happening when people can just create direct exchange markets (eg Euro > USD) and reduce their costs and risks.

It only costs a tiny fraction of a ripple to do a trade, and I think there's a way to do it at no cost too. If all the banks adopted it the price wouldn't go up because of ripple trading fees. It's unlikely all the banks would adopt it anyway, instead they would clone it and use their own private network.
9  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTER account "hacked", coins drained, account locked, support unresponsive on: August 28, 2016, 01:33:15 AM
They issued a "Security Alert" on august 24, and required users to change password as well as enabling google authentication. They suspect it was due to phishing sites from (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc).

What did support say regarding the missing funds? Have you tried submitting a ticket directly from their site?

This is the "Security Alert", but I don't understand how asking everyone to change their passwords is going to solve the problem. You had to get an emailed code from bter to log in through any new IP since last year. Anyone stealing an account had to already control the associated email address to login, so changing a password won't help.

The whole thing sounds suspicious to me, like bter itself might be selectively stealing funds from accounts. Any customer located outside China would find suing bter difficult, or impossible, and all the "stolen" accounts are from customers outside China.

https://bter.com/article/7100

Quote
We recently detected many suspicious user account login attempts and we got several account stolen reports from our users.

Although BTER has a large portion of Chinese users, it's strange that all the affected users are from outside of China.

We suspect that it's related with the phishing sites appear in the English search engines ads (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc)

or an account list from an English website.

We now require all our users to change the login password at

https://bter.com/resetpw

and the fund password at

https://bter.com/resetfpw

We highly recommend all users to enable Google Authentication to protect yourself from such attack at

10  Other / Archival / Re: [ANN] [PEEP COIN] GUARANTEED VALUE - FREE ICO!!! on: August 11, 2016, 08:02:44 PM
Is the Exchange really works?  If yes, at which price (BTC)?

Exchange is not working yet especially for selling the peeps, it says that it wont work until August 15th. But people can buy it now, $1 per 1PEEP but I dont think people want to buy this coin since they have distributed so many coins, I believe people will only sell it when the exchange is ready.

Will peepcoin be on any of the established exchanges in the future? If it doesn't get on an established exchange I doubt it will be popular with the altcoin community. The most popular coins usually get on poloniex.

Does it have a downloadable wallet? I can't find a download link in the OP. Is it only backed by a normal server instead of a wallet and blockchain?

Re: Bitfinex. I'm in. Why are there three different Bitcoin deposit addresses?
Exchange Wallet
Trading Wallet
Deposit Wallet
 Huh

You should ask them, anyone can troll you or give a honest but wrong answer. The explanation must be somewhere in the site, and you can contact their support

The Bitfinex support page explains why are there three different Bitcoin deposit addresses. It's because there are three different account types. You can move your Bitcoins over to any account type you like at any time you want on your account Settings page. If you only want to buy and/or sell Bitcoin open an Exchange account and use the deposit address for that.

https://www.bitfinex.com/support

Quote
What are the three account types and which should I choose?
Trader:   This account type allows access to margin trading, exchange and margin funding
Exchange:   This account type allows access to exchange and margin funding
Deposit:   This account type allows access to margin funding

Can I change my account type later?
Account Settings page

How can I take advantage of Bitfinex's features even if I don't feel like buying any Bitcoin or Litecoin?
You can open a Deposit account and provide margin funding in US dollars to other Bitfinex traders. See Margin Funding.

I would like to simply buy and/or sell Bitcoin, what should I do?
You can open an Exchange account and use the "Exchange" tab of Bitfinex

Hmm, well it says nothing about verification for BTC withdrawals so what would be "big" withdrawals? 200 BTC or more?

I don't know, but their terms of service say that at any time they can suddenly demand verification. They say they are always monitoring for suspicious transactions, and I suppose any giant Bitcoin withdrawal would get flagged. However with the volume going through the exchange they would probably consider 10 BTC small change.

Does anybody know if any verification is neccessary for deposit and withdrawal of bitcoins on finex?
No verification is needed but it may depends on your location..

I don't think verification is needed for small amounts of Bitcoins, but if you start moving big amounts of Bitcoins Bitfinex might suddenly demand verification, and refuse to let you have your coins back without it. Plus, beware of possible withdrawal delays if the hot wallet's empty. Their terms say they can take up to 12 hours to process a withdrawal.

https://www.bitfinex.com/support

Quote
How long does it take for a BTC/LTC/ETH withdrawal to be processed?

When you enable two-factor authentication your withdrawal will be approved instantly, unless you have logged with a new IP address in the previous 24 hours.

If you haven't enabled two-factor authentication you will receive an email to confirm your withdrawal. Your withdrawal will not be approved and processed as long as you don't confirm it with this link. Please note that while most withdrawals of Bitcoins/Litecoins will be processed within 2 minutes, the guaranteed processing time is within 12 hours. A withdrawal might be delayed for two reasons:

Our "hot wallet" (special wallet used to process withdrawals) is empty.

For Bitgo enabled accounts, the withdrawal hit a spending limit (global or specific to the account).

Is there something wrong with finex? Can't make an account there

I have no problems accessing it, but I haven't tried to make an account today.

Bitfinex did tweet on 1 July that there was a connection issue between the Americans and Europe which was affecting the website. Apparently the problem was fixed the same day but maybe it's resurfaced today.

15  Economy / Speculation / Re: You guys think the price party is over or have we just seen the start ? on: July 17, 2016, 01:40:18 PM
The price party being over?
Dude we haven't even started!
Give it a few more months, becoming the market aware of that reward got cut in half, and I'm sure we are going to see some really nice upwards movements! With a bit of luck a 2x increase until january or february 2017 is possible imo.

I agree.  Have patience.  This entire market cycle is playing out at least 6x longer than previous cycles.  So while I definitely think we are going up in the mid to long term, as far as the short term goes, it all just has to play out.  Brexit was just the beginning.  The entire global financial system is on its knees right now

I never thought it would take a year to get to the bottom after the ATH, and I never thought the price could go range bound between 200 to 300 for another year. I think there will be another spectacular ATH, but it will take a long time to reach it. Perhaps the post-halving reduced supply will make the price go above 1000 before the end of the year so we can have a double New Year's eve/BTC price party. Next year we might see another ATH. I doubt we will see one a few months after the halving.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NXT 2.0 Ardor No ICO Speculation - Live Now on: July 03, 2016, 01:41:31 AM

Price will be shared between NXT1.0 and NXT2.0 while you still have both on market.

But all NXT1.0 owners will get NXT2.0 for nothing but keeping NXT1.0 coins in their wallets until October. They will get both coins without having to pay for NXT2.0.

Even if the price is shared between the two coins nobody loses because they only have to pay for NXT1.0. The new technology in NXT2.0 will give it a higher price than NXT1.0 ever had.
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 12, 2016, 06:23:17 PM
Time for me to head off to the ballpark but I'll take my Android device and keep checking the price.

Seems we're forming a nice little triangle in the mid-$640s after the break through $650 and the correction down to $639.

Should reach a point by the time the ballgame is over, which should be close to when the Chinese start waking up. More fireworks tonight?

Let`s wait when Chinese wake up and news in West begin to announce that BTC surpassed 10 bn marketcap!

The Chinese volume crashed about an hour ago. The Chinese traders who stayed awake all night because of the pump probably couldn't keep their eyes open any longer. In another five hours they will all wake up and start buying again, and expect more mooning when the banks open on Monday morning and the Chinese can start pumping more money into the exchanges.

The competition is now closed guys. It closed to new entries on May 20th so it's pointless posting your predicted prices any more. Marcotheminer is the person who pays the prize and he said the competition closes May 20th!

Dr Wright says he wrote the first blog post to show off his intellectual capabilities. Forcing everyone to read that wall of waffle just annoyed us all, especially when it contained zero proof. He should just sign a message from the genesis block and post it on his blog, if he can.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-36193006

Quote
The trouble is that Dr Wright's blog has not convinced the wider public.

He had told me last week that he intended it to be convoluted. He wanted to show those who doubted his intellectual capabilities that he really knew what he was talking about - instead he has managed to make them more suspicious.
20  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain banned my IP on: February 22, 2016, 12:11:36 AM
I have never heard of them doing that before but I have never used their online wallet, I only use the block explorer. If you were making too many raw API calls to it I guess they might ban you. The service can be flakey sometimes so maybe it's overloaded and you will be able to access them in an hour or two.
