1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [COINO] The Coin(O) Community Discussion thread on: June 06, 2014, 09:57:18 PM
Hi People.

I must apologise for being away for so long.

I went on a little get away and had a rather nasty accident which incapacitated me for a couple of weeks.

However, I have now been given the all clear and will be getting back to things slowly over the next week.

I have a lot to catch up on with Coin(O) and will be addressing these in the best timely fashion I can.
What I would most like to get across is that development around Coin(O) will be continuing

Good to be back so hopefully see you around here and in IRC Smiley
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [COINO] The Coin(O) Community Discussion thread on: May 23, 2014, 12:23:26 PM
I've just sent a request to Poloniex to hopefully NOT de-list Coin(O).

It's a long shot, but I am hoping they will see that the current dev's are doing their best to take Coin(O) up a notch and bring it out of the small time trade market.

However, even if they do de-list us, we are by no means ham strung. Personally, I never wanted to be listed on any exchange because it only encourages dumpers. However, it's not just me involved here and many of you have an interest in exchanging Coin(O) for BTC so I would like it to be continued on Poloniex if possible because of this.

But let us reflect a bit and discuss what we have coming in the next few weeks or so Smiley

The last two posts by myself have already indicated we have some new games for Coin(O) on the horizon and a new browser based web wallet for multiple coins. What I haven't discussed with you yet is that we also have a new crypto exchange being developed. We expect to get approval and a licence for this exchange in NZ within the next couple of months. Unlike most of the other exchanges, you all know me and I have made no attempt to be anonymous in the Coin(O) forum and will be the representative of this new exchange.

On top of this, one of my main business interests as a real job Smiley is developing exchange software for NZX companies in NZ, so we pretty much know what we are doing. The other interest I have is internet security.. And the fact fact I have consulted for some of the largest banks and investment houses throughout Europe.

Anyway, this means Coin(O) will soon have a dedicated exchange, hopefully within the next 4 to 6 weeks, but with regulatory requirements it will probably be a bit longer. But it will come.

One of the core investors in this venture is a major currency trader with a real interest in Crypto, and because of my interest in Coin(O), we have a great ally in our midst Smiley

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [COINO] The Coin(O) Community Discussion thread on: May 23, 2014, 11:26:59 AM
Sorry.

One thing I haven't really addressed before, is the issue regarding ASIC's and Scrypt coins in general.

As a community we have looked at, and considered, this issue around remaining Scrypt and as of yet, as a community, we have not made a decision one way or the other.

The community decided to keep Coin(O), and we have done our best up until now to honour that, but we did not decide if we should change the PoW algorithm or not. This means we have an opportunity to decide between us if we want to move away from Scrypt to another PoW algorithm or not.

It will be YOUR voice and YOUR vote that will ultimately make that decision. We want YOU as Coin(O) community users to make that choice, and to do so you need to join us on IRC at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=##coinocoin and make your views known.

We do NOT want to be a community team that makes the rules, we want to be a community team that delivers according to community consensus, and that means YOU need to make a choice.

Even if you are outvoted at the end of the day, you still need to make your voice heard in the community. We rely on YOU to make the choices and WE will try to make it happen.

Hey people.

I am sorry I have been a miss for several days but I have a real job that pays my rent Smiley and I have to attend to this as well.

I actually have a real job and unfortunately that does take time away from me to be able to work on Coin(O) from time to time.

However, I would like to say that I am still here and VERY much looking forward to some of the new developments we have in the planing including some new games, and an extension to the web wallet where you get to keep your private keys and therefore you control it (think coinpunk) . The new web wallet will be another unique advance and will allow you to have multiple alt coin accounts (BTC, LTC, DOGE etc) and easily transfer to Coin(O) at current satoshi rates if you want to play the games.

Some of the new games (the next release) will also act like a faucet so non crypto people can earn some Coin(O) to get interested. Think, high scores and time spent.

Anyway, all I wanted to say is that Coin(O) is still alive and kicking, and will be here for the foreseeable future Smiley

We have some really great stuff lined up for you, not just for this week and not just for next week, but for the future and it's all coming and it's all looking great.

Regards

Steve

So I've just donated about 400 coino to the community wallet by losing in the web wallet slots game lol.  Looking forward to more games in the future!

Coming soon :-)

Hey I sent you a PM. Just wondering if you've read it

Hi RichardT

I did get it yes. You need to submit those suggestions via email to community [at] coinocoin [dot] com

I will then include them in the entries.

I thought they were quite good by the way :-)

thanks

but shouldn't I have more active connections?

It will find them as it goes along and my new VM that is currently downloading the blockchain is showing 4 active connections at this moment

Regards

EDIT :
Now 88 days left to catch up - but still syncing fine
Now 80 days left to catch up - and still syncing fine with 4 active connections
Now 68 days left to catch up - and still syncing fine with 4 active connections
Now 60 days left to catch up - and still syncing fine with 5 active connections
Now 40 days left to catch up - and still syncing fine with 5 active connections
Now 19 days left to catch up - and still syncing fine with 5 active connections
Now 10 days left to catch up - and still syncing fine with 5 active connections
Now 13 hours left to catch up - and still syncing fine with 5 active connections

Finished.

So that took just over 1 hour to sync the blockchain without a Coino.conf file - and no issues. The active connections were going between 4 and 5 most of the time.

There are points during the sync that seem to look as if the syncing has hung, but just leave it and let it get on and it will start moving again.

I hope your wallets are now synchronised but if not maybe we can have a look at your debug.log file to try and sort out issues you may be having.

well I created coin.conf and coino.con and put them in the %appdata% directory for coino and also in the directory where the .exe file is and I still only have two connections

Huh

The file name is Coino.conf. Both of the names you just posted are incorrect

Also, with peers they do come and go as the people that own them can stop and start them at will. We only have 1 guaranteed node and that is 70.38.54.10 as we own this one

Regards

NB. Also the current progress on my new download is at 103 days left to catch up

we need more people to know it .
all people have the duty to protect the envieonment ,so this coin has a enormous room to develop !

not with this flaky wallet!!!!

The wallets are fine.

They have been tested on multiple machines without issue.
I myself run the Mac Wallet, the Windows wallet and the Linux wallet just to make sure.

If your machine is having an issue I suggest you stop and restart it after making sure your Coino.conf file has the correct addnode=70.38.54.10 to start with.

Your Coin(O) Community Team

it's not my machine

if you really read my post you'd see it's happening on two machine - I think you need to go back and test your own wallet

Can you tell me what version of Windows are you running ? and is it 32 or 64 bit ?

Because I just did another clean install on Windows 7 64bit VM with no issues. The blockchain sync's and I can send and receive coins fine.

Regards

EDIT :

I am going to do another install to a Windows 7 32bit VM now and check that as well.

I have one wallet running on Windoze 7 and the the other on Windoze 2003 server

the 2003 Server is running in a data center with an oc3 pipe and there is 1 active connection. are there any additional nodes I can connect to besides just 1 - this has been dragging on for many hours. It's just sitting there at block 128742

Hi

Here are some of the peers listed in our daemon that you could try adding

50.197.11.193
37.187.179.237
37.187.142.89
198.20.124.178
74.208.97.28
47.17.85.76
83.226.176.254
24.160.199.142
70.36.238.25

Regards

EDIT :

Currently our Coinod is listing 25 connections

Ok, so on a new Windows 7 32bit VM and NO Coino.conf the Windows wallet has started to download the blockchain and has currently found 2 active connections

The progress bar is reporting the correct number of blocks remaining and is importing blocks at this moment generated 112 days ago.

I will let this finish on it's own and check the send and receive again.

Unfortunately I am unable to verify Windows Server 2003 as I do not have an image or license for this

I will update this post again when the blockchain has finished syncing

Regards

Hi

I have now been analyzing the crypto coins for a while.

To coino to survive you need:

 Smiley A strong dev team.
Smiley Issues are fixed really quickly!
Smiley Bring positive news in to the community every day!
Smiley Dev team to ask questions to the community, to boost the activity.
Smiley Be on the top lists like : http://www.coinssource.com/top-coins/, and climbing UP UP UP!!!
Smiley Strong exchange like Cryptsy.com with lot of buyers on it.
Smiley Working wallets for both MAC, PC, Online etc...
 Smiley Working pools.
Smiley Free addons to help miners, like an cgminer monitor, lock at http://cgminermonitor.com
Smiley Help miners to configure stable riggs, the most important settings you do is to extend the PCIbus clock delay in BIOS and to have airflow.
 Smiley Somewhere to spend coins.

ATTENTION - Check this out https://xapo.com - ATTENTION
To have a coino debit card that works where Mastercard are working would BOOST Coino!
I would start spend coino today! - Buy an hotdog and save my local currency!

It's all about perceptions!

This is a short input to grow our business.
This is my view, I guess you already are working on this but now I have contributed to the growth of coino, small steps....

Thanks.
//Aboy68
exactly !!!!!! i agree with you guy  Cool

ATTENTION - ATTENTION

There will be NO Coin(O) Debit Card any time soon. This is unlikely to happen with ANY crypto currency that has less of a market cap than Litecoin. It is not viable and never was.

Banks do not like crypto and actually shut down and seize accounts dealing in crypto in some countries.

Being on a big exchange right now would hurt us more than help us as it would draw too much attention from the big hashers who would dump and drive the price down very quickly.

We already have enough issues with miners on exchanges such Poloniex who consistently insist on driving the price down to around 180 sats with small sells i.e. 70 Coin(O) at 100 sat less than anybody else. These miners don't give a crap about this coin or any other. Their only interest is 10 bucks a day.

These people are DELIBERATELY trying to get you to sell cheap so that they can buy cheap. If we were on a big exchange at this moment it would be 10 times worse.

We are comfortable with where we are now and are slowly, but surely, increasing the interest in Coin(O) again and doing our best to innovate make Coin(O) stand out from the rest.

However it's going to be slow and an up hill struggle as we are still a SCrypt coin, and as such, we will at some point be the target of ASIC miners out there who are quickly running out of SCrypt coins to rape as most coins are now going X11.

As a community we feel we are bringing positive news on a regular basis. We are addressing issues quickly and have working wallets and good pools for you to mine at.
Miners should however be responsible for their own rigs and setups and there are more than enough sites on the web to help you out here. However, saying that, we do have a community member whom is currently rewriting some "how to" guides for our Coin(O) community members and we are also working on "places to spend your Coin(O)". There will be more news about this in time.

As a Community team we 100% believe Coin(O) has a great future, or we wouldn't be here either. It's NOT a coin you will make a "quick buck off" at this moment and if you want to mine Coin(O) then great. But if you want to mine and dump it we have no interest in you being here.

Coin(O) is what it is, it may have started with a big unrealistic marketing drive but it's now in the hands of people that actually care. We do NOT get paid for our time or effort, we do NOT get paid bounties for developing Web Wallets and games, we do NOT get paid or rewarded for maintaining this coin for the community interest. What we do get is good feedback from you, the Coin(O) community and that is good enough.

We would like to spend 100% of our time here but we can't, we also have families and jobs that pay our bills, just like 99.9% of you.

There are a 1000+ shit coins out there to mine with no purpose other than to trade for BTC and we are doing our absolute best to ensure Coin(O) is not one of them.

Whatever the original dev's had planned for Coin(O) is no longer relevant. Coin(O) will now take a direction decided by the majority of the community, for the community. We know that not everybody is happy with that, but tough, that's the way it is.

The people now behind the scenes of Coin(O) now are not rich, do not hold or control millions of coins, and are not anonymous. I myself have "put out" my profile on more than one occasion as has bgade.

We did not "chose" or "plan" to hijack or takeover Coin(O), infact it was rather the opposite. We were nominated by a significant number of Coin(O) users, over a period of many weeks in IRC, to become the representatives of Coin(O) and we were honoured to do so.

All that we ask of you, the community, is patients. We will get there in the end. It's a long steady race, not a sprint, and we intend to be on the winners podium at the finish with your help.

If you really want to help and get involved, then either join us in the IRC channel and put forward your ideas or donate what you can to the Coin(O) community wallet for future benefits.
All of the information you need to get involved can be found in the first post of this thread.

In the mean time, we wish you all happy mining and hope you have as much belief in Coin(O)'s future as we do.

Your Coin(O) Community Team

Congratz to Coino Community and a huge big appreciative hug to the fab devs who have taken this on. Keep it up...

Now, my small little contribution... we should have a "strap line" that goes with Coino... a marketing line (bit like "a mars a day helps you work, rest and play")

So how about something cheesy like "Coino - flash, dash and splash" (or someone come up with a much better slogan!)...

Good idea.

I like Marketing tag lines Smiley so we should have some community input in to this as it's quite important going forward.

Anybody with a marketing tag line for Coin(O) should send their suggestions to "community [at] coinocoin [dot] com" with the Subject 'Coin(O) Tag Line competition'
This will avoid clogging up this thread with suggestions that may otherwise get missed.

We will then compile a list of submissions and have a Community Team Vote to pick a winner.

Not sure what we should do for a bounty yet, but lets see Smiley

We will add this into the Op of this thread as the first Coin(O) Community Competition.

Your Coin(O) Community Team

I like Coino, I think it has a future. People were complaining it's "boring" -- but hey, guess who likes boring stuff? Corporations! It helps that everything -- from the wallet to the website -- looks nice and professional.

BTW was there ever a fix for permanently unconfirmed coins from showing up on the wallet?

Plz donate if you want, I'm a poor ol' CPU miner:
UYBVRGJ3brzMDhC4vXUefeKFacDdHqLwCs

I think you have been looking at the original dev site.

The new site is currently being redesigned and is as yet very boring.

If you do not have the wallet issued after 7th April 2014 you have the wrong wallet. Please see the first post for details about downloading the current wallet.

If you have been solo mining on the wrong block chain we cannot help get your coins back. They are gone.
If you have been mining at a pool that has the wrong wallet please let us know the name of the pool and we will contact the pool to either update their wallet or take down their Coin(O) pool.

If you have been mining at a pool that uses the correct wallet, but you are using an old wallet then updating your wallet should fix the unconfirmed transactions.

Just an advice, as you have already launched wallet with great features, the promotion and awareness about should also start as soon as possible because in the market there are so many people who are just ready to copy paste new things and market as their own. The credit of this must go to you and the Coino community.

Thanks

Thanks

But it's not that easy.

There are many coin dev's out there who can't even code a coin, let alone build a scalable gaming platform
If building gaming platforms was easy companies wouldn't be charging $10,000 a pop Smiley

It would also be pretty easy to prove that we had the first Smiley At the end of the day, others just copying will never be innovative.

We do intent to start promoting the Coin(O) Web Wallet after the next update which will make things a lot easier for non-crypto users to get into it.

in OP - "walletnitify functionality"

new mac wallet doesn't work for me (mac os 10.9.2)
(it just doesn't open at all)

EDIT:
direct link to polonex https://poloniex.com/exchange/btc_con
and pls contact them to change CON to COINO

Thanks for the feedback.

The 2 changes have been made and I have already contacted Poloniex regarding the CON trading symbol, we will see if they will change it for us Smiley

As for the Mac Wallet, I am not sure why it is not working for you as this is the wallet I use on Maverics (it is 64bit only). I will download it again and check it out on a new Mac VM to be sure, if there is an issue I will fix it and upload a new version to the coinocoin.com web site.

EDIT :

After creating a new Mac OSX 10.9 VM I can confirm the Mac Wallet does not work. This is a packaging error by myself and I will fix this and upload a new version later. It works on my other VM as I already had some libraries referenced by the packaging present.

OK.

The new Mac Wallet has been repackaged and tested on a Clean Mac VM and now works.

Sorry about that people, we'll try not to let that happen again Smiley

For your information

The Web Wallet now has your balance auto updated across all devices. So if you pay in or out or play the Coin(O)Slot on one device, all other devices will automatically have the balance updated as well.

We are now working on a new Mac Wallet download as the current one is broken and the Web Wallet transaction pages.
