Even if these coins end up worthless, it has been fun just to try to mine them. My first few blocks were rejected though. Finally getting some coins now.

Agreed

I haven't tried to solo mine (or use anything but guiminer) before so setting that up was a learning experience Tongue

So does anybody here actually have coins in his wallet yet?  Huh

10K coins so far. Difficulty seems to be going up quite a bit I'm only finding blocks every 2-3 minutes or so now on 1.3MH/s

That's like >50% network speed.

Not sure it is even close to >50%

Getmininginfo in console shows current hashrate is "networkhashps" : 1892145

20 minutes ago it was "networkhashps" : 632298

Cheesy
Seems everyone wants in for these early coins lol
165  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Minecraft gift codes - just 0.95 BTC on: August 01, 2011, 03:55:41 PM
Are these full codes and not the gift codes given with the humble indie bundle that only allow play up until August 14th?
Codes I'm selling will work forever and will allow you to get the latest beta version of Minecraft and all future updates, including final version.

Good stuff, now to convince my girlfriend that she needs to come play MC with me! Might be back later for a code Wink

I know about the problem and I'm fixing it now, please wait.
I'll make an announcement when payments will be available.

Good Show [Tycho]. I'm fairly new to mining but loving deepbit pool so far, also impressed with your quick response to problems like this. Just hope you can put up with the floods of people that appear and seem to not read any of the thread responses directly above theirs!

Tycho might be sleeping.  He is human -- as far as we know Wink

He's an admin, definitely not human!  Grin

Glad it isn't just me having problems with the instant payout button. Oh well, I guess it will be fixed in due course Smiley

Ah ha! Thats the one, bookmarked this time around. Thanks Bert!

I think with 1Ghash/s you would have to be fairly lucky to hit a block within a week.

Trying to find a calculator that I used the other day to work out my chances of hitting a block with my 880Mhash! Will report back if I find it although someone will probably beat me to it!
173  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Iphone Bitcoin App on: June 16, 2011, 01:21:44 PM
I'm sure as mentioned above that a fully functional web-app would be the way forward. Most smartphones have a pretty powerful browser and always on connections to make it viable.
174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Vegetables for Bitcoin! on: June 16, 2011, 01:20:55 PM
Nice, I am about 80 miles away from Manchester so bit too much of a round trip for some fruit and veg. Nice to see retailers taking bitcoins onboard even if it was meant jokingly!
175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CPU Mining -- Is this even worth it?? on: June 16, 2011, 01:18:47 PM
From what I have read/calculated CPU mining is just not profitable at all unless you are really really lucky solo mining and hit a block.
176  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HD5850 went pop on: June 16, 2011, 01:17:25 PM
Hopefully your RMA will get fulfilled. I have had problems returning GCards in the past where they "test" them and determine nothing was wrong! I'm not sure of the stock speeds of the 5850 but I presume you have been running them with a slight overclock? If so you may have an even harder time as they will only test at default clocks.

Saying that you would hope for a slight overclock on most graphics cards nowadays, I've got 3 5830s that show perfectly the variance in batches. One runs 890/300, one runs 975/300 and the best one runs 1050/300 all on stock volts! All run under 60c in an open case!

177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Installing ATI boards in lower-end PCs on: June 16, 2011, 01:08:52 PM
I'd agree that buying a PSU with a higher wattage/amp rating on the 12v rail is the safer option.

For those who need a more visual demonstration of pins 14/15 on an ATX connector see the image below! Don't blame me (or xunker) if you blow yourself up!

178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PCI-e cards: must they be in a 16x slot? on: June 16, 2011, 01:03:52 PM
Thanks for the detailed reply there SomeoneWeird, just ordered myself a 1x pci-e extender off ebay. Now should I order another 5830 or stick my old 4870 in there? hmmm Undecided
179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: June 16, 2011, 12:59:20 PM
Afternoon All. I started out about a week ago and I am currently figuring out which pool is best for my 880Mhash!
180  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did we just go down? on: June 12, 2011, 11:28:15 AM
Both deepbit and BTC Guild are up and down like yoyos for me at the moment.
