Since all coins are traded relative to bitcoin, the price of other altcoins changes with the fluctuation of the bitcoin exchange rate.
This is my essence of my question, why does other coins follow BTC exchange rate given that other coins (not tokens) follow other protocols than BTC?
If i understood your question right, you practically asking why everything falls down when BTC does? If so, I can say, that BTC is representing all cryptocurrency market. The reason is, something about 40-50% of operations still involve Bitcoin. It`s like reserve currency of the market and so everyone reacts to it`s price falling like if market itself is falling.

So this situation is bound to change in the future when some coins like ETH be fully independent from BTC. meaning fiat money > ETH and vise versa?
Something like that. I`d say, when market will be formed with all it`s institutions (yes, I think it will be happening in a few years as soon as Big Money will come, and they will) and BTC stake in all transactions will decrease to somewhere about equal to other top crypto`s. But I`m not an expert so that`s like just my humble opinion.

3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What does it mean when you have 10, 20, 50, or >100 merits? on: July 12, 2018, 05:07:17 PM
How do earn merit?
The most wide spread answer to this - you make good, quality posts that contains useful information for other. Also I would add that in order to get merit poster should know and respect forum rules and other forum members. Then, if your answers will be good and valuable enough for others - you will get merit. And of course you should watch Beginners&Help board for threads with words like "merit award" title, mostly started by merit sources as Jet Cash.

Don`t know if that would be any help, but I`d like to advice http://cryptocompare.com for both training trading skills and tracing your cryptos. It helped me back when I just started my aquaintance with the world of crypto and didn`t want to waste money on unfamiliar market. If you are not sure that your vision of market is right you can just pretend, that you bought certain amount of coin, you are not sure about, and trace it`s price and see if you was right or not and how profitable your decisions would be. Good way to work out your own trading strategy.
Thanks TS for work on this Telegram bots. Personally I don`t use such things, but I`m sure that somebody will find how to apply these for his benefit.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 2018 Mining Reward on: July 12, 2018, 04:35:53 PM
I am confused on the mining profitability, I started mining back in January and I was making 6-7 dollars a day now I hardly touch the $2 mark.
Currently I am mining on a single 1080TI to test things out before I go out and buy a mining rig.
I don't understand the sudden drop in the reward, is it because of difficulty or the mining reward is slashed to half (as I understand this should happen every 4 years, and for a specific coin only).
Also I am wondering why does the price drop of bitcoin effects all the cryptocurrencies mining reward?
Hi! First of all, I don`t think it`s a wise decision to mine Bitcoin on videocard for now. You should try ZCash, Ethereum, Ethereum Cash, Zencash. At least, they were more profitable at a time, I was curious about mining. That should give you more profit. As for profitability of Bitcoin mining, guys above rightfully said about BTC price and state of market. Still, I think you should ask for advice people on Mining board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=14.0 , I`m sure they can help you more.

Hi -- Does anyone have a description on each stage of merit status?  What does it mean when you have 10, 20, 50, or >100 merits?
Hi! First, there is not such thing as "merit status" if I got this system correctly (only if we are talking about "merit source" status, but that`s a whole another conversation). Second, you do need merit as well as certain activity number to rank up after "Jr. Member" status and TryNinja placed a full table with all info about ranks and merit needed to rich it. So, merit by itself do not grant you status growth, to up it you need both activity and merit to rich certian levels.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to buy bitcoin /ethereum from credit card /paypal on: July 12, 2018, 03:51:06 PM
Can anyone suggest where and how to buy bitcoin /ethereum from credit card or paypal in middle east countries.
Hi! There is this new project I`ve been watching lately. It`s still beta and ICO is only about to happen, but http://streamdesk.io is actually working. PayPal and Yandex.Money is pluged in already. Users seemed to be satisfied in their Telegram chat, last time I checked. It`s not working with cards directly, though, you need to make some actions to bind your card to Yandex.Money acc, as far as I know. Anyway, check this project out, maybe it`ll be interesting for you, they are promising new payment systems soon.

Hi! Here you can find some advise on you actions in situation like that https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0 . You should do exactly as described in this thread and wait for resolution of your case by admins, though it may take some time. Wish you luck ! Smiley

I'm assuming you’ve scrapped most of the user profile of those 2M account. If so, it could be interesting to see a few other things with just that information, without having to cross the files with anything else. Things such as distributions by:

-Number of posts: for example ->  0,1,2,3,4,5,5-10, more. This is rather more specific for the immense amount of newbie accounts, and would allow us to see when they stop (after how many posts).

- Last Active :grouped by some sort of criteria  such as -> last 30 days, 30-90, 90-180, 180-365, > 365.  That would give us an idea, for each rank, how many are active. The “active” measure with this definition is not of a Boolean nature, but rather more like a “state”.

Of course, that is your prerogative if you see it fit and think it can throw-in some more information.

Thanks for the info so far. I’ve already referenced it twice today on separate posts to strengthen my point of view on two different matters.

That wold be interesting, totally agree about number of posts. Although, there are new accounts of old members who are thying to restore their main accs. I`m assuming, as soon as they get restored, Newbie accounts get abandoned after few posts.

It seems to me, you, peolpe, overloocking one substantional circumstance in you research regarding Brand New members. Thing is, you often can`t register and not get a ban at once even from you own IP adress, espesially if you are a TOR user. But sometimes (as was in my case) you just randomly get some point of evel (like, about 10 or smth) and can`t post a thing till you pay some fee, less than comission. So, naturally most of new users don`t know about IP ban feature untill they try to register and in most cases, unsuccessfully. So, here comes another acc or two or three, and most of them are pictured green in that diagram. They`re just dead accounts, nobody will ever post from `em, that`s why this number of Brand News.
If you want real numbers, you should get a quantity of IP banned accs and exclude such ones from calculations.

The research as you call it, is not mean to analyse activity of these users.
My goal was just to show the distrubution of positions and yes the mojority are " Brand new " users, from which a good part is spambots another part are banned users and if i have to guess - almost all of them are not activ memebers.

There is potential for deeper analysis here.
Hi! I got that, I just thought if we want to get a fair statistics - we should exclude number of IP banned accounts, because, as for me, most of them (who are real users, not bots) could create new one`s and therefore we are counting same people several times. If you don`t like this suggestion - OK, It was your own initiative to get this nubmers anyway. It just seemed, that old forum users may not got the whole picture so I took a shot on explaining some specailties.

Good job and interesting infirmation, by the way. Smiley
11  Other / Meta / Re: Truth about bitcointalk users 2.0 on: July 12, 2018, 12:54:31 PM
Yes, that`s exactly what I mean. And it`s not necessary botnets (though it may be one of reasons), real new users are getting banned too. As I understand it`s aboun dynamic IPs that most providers use in Eastern Europe, for example. Whole node get marked as evil one if even one user uses TOR or trying to make some troubles.

The evil IP works by giving a score to IP addresses. Every time an account is banned the IP address used gains some evil points and all addresses near that address also get a smaller number of points added. Once the score gets to a certain value a fee is required, the higher the score the higher the fee.

I'm only guessing about how much of this is due to botnets but they are prevalent in Eastern Europe (Russia and Ukraine in particular) so I think they'll account for a large part of this and also will have affected innocent users of the same ISPs.

Thanks for clearing out evli IP mechanism  Smiley
I think somewhere about South-Eastern Esia and Africa this problem is big too. But professional acc breeders (don`t know if there is a special term for such peolpe  Wink) can resolve their difficalties easily and average users - not so much. But again, if you are interested in future technologies, you should be able to solve such problems and if you`re not  - pay a fee and be happy. That is the logic, I think. It may not feel nice to be obliged to pay for somebody`s bad moves, though.
12  Other / Meta / Re: SIGNATURE CAMPAIGNS COULD ALSO BE A SOURCE OF THE SPAMMING on: July 12, 2018, 12:30:54 PM
I`m thinking, signature campaigns are not the cause of spam problem.

I disagree. I think the cause of the spam is almost exclusively signature campaigns.

You could post hundreds of posts every day and still be on topic, not spamming, not copypasting.

Those users would be rare.

It all comes down to the culture of communacation and reason why somebody came here.

I would say the vast majority of people (at least 90%+) only sign up here to earn from signatures or bounties. News that you can earn good money here is spreading like wildfire throughout developing countries and hence why the post quality deteriorates rapidly because a lot of them can't speak English very well if at all and more and more of them are signing up every day. A lot of them don't even seem to be in or out of high school yet.

If a guy just came on forum to get money he woldn`t care much about rules and content of his posts.

And they don't. All they care about is earning money as quickly and as easily as possible, hence why many just copy and paste posts or content.

He`ll just want to formally get a minimal number that he needs for having his stake/points whatever you name it, and nobody can control amount of posts, coming from all people, whether they participating in campaigns or trying to rank up. Forbid all bounties and signature campaigns, destroy every opportunity to make money out of posting - and this will get you a result of much less spam  Wink

I'm confused, because you seem to be contradicting your original sentence. You said they're not the cause, but are now suggesting that signatures be removed to tackle the problem?

Maybe I just didn`t explain myself plainly enough  Smiley I was saying, that the main reason of sh***posting is not about bounty threads or something like that. In fact you defined most reasons by youself pretty clear (age of new users, language difficalties, not caring about rules an so on). It`s about nature of interest to this forum by majority of new users. Bounty threads by themselfs are not evel, it`s how peolpe use them. Bad posts are just a consequence of all problems, you`ve listed. So, to resolve this case, admins can, for expample, limit access to most of boards for new members or something like that. I`m not sure it will work out 100% effectively, though.

Do you mean they only find out about the evil IP after the account has been created? If so that would explain the numbers as the botnets would have created most of those accounts and never been able to use them.

You should exclude the brand new users from your stats. They are likely to be spam bots that are banned.

That is quite some stat in itself, 73.35% of new accounts got nuked.

I agree that the other percentages would give a better representation with those having been removed from the figures first.

Hi, is it okay to use ethereum address to sign a message? because I don't have my private key of my bitcoin address.
Hi! I saw a few threads, where guys were asking the same question.  From what I understand, It`s possible, but bitcoin address is preferable. Anyway, you don`t really have a choise in this situation  Sad And you`ll have to wait, maybe for months regardless of type of adress, that you are giving. Apparently, there is a great amount of accounts that need restoring.
Wish you a good luck and a lot of patients  Smiley

Congratulations to the new Merit Source, now they are 83 Smiley
Quote
There are 83 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 19100 sMerit per 30 days
Who are those "merit sources" and is it possible to become one of them? That is not the first time I hear about sources, but I nevr got any concrete information about them and terms of getting merits from those sources.
Info about merit, merit sources and everything about this topic is here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.msg28856522#msg28856522 (first post of THIS EXACT thread). Also it may be useful for you to read the merit source Jet Cash `s (if I`m wrong, please feel free to correct me) blog http://talkmerit.com . Reading this FAQ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2766177.0 can also give you some answers about merit system.

If you do not mind show me where it happened
You can disagree as much, as you want. You can write to an admin about an issue. But if a global moderator is saying that it`s done - than it`s done. There are big guys that run this forum and they got enough work to do. Nobody will ban you just for kicks.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet Collision on: June 29, 2018, 08:18:37 PM
But technically it is possible, right? So what happens, when somebody smart enough will make some improvements of his own to the algorithm of adress generation in some services, like blockchain.info or others? He will gain access to your coins? Is this real?
No? Those addresses are randomly generated. It's possible to get the same address, but I don't think you can "make your own algorithm" to generate the private keys more easily.

Maybe if the service isn't pure RNG when generating those private keys.
I got, that they are randomly generated. What I mean is "random" in case of computer science - is a result of execution of some function, that returns "random" result after long line of mathematical operations. Address is not generated by blockchain, right? It just adds to next block of transactions after sending an amout of coins there, if I understand it correct. So, I`m asking what about if some third party will intervene in a process of generation of an adress (let`s say, some cool-*ss hacker) to generate exact the same adress the same moment (let`s say it`s happening on blockchain.info). Then you send your BTC to this adress, thinking that it`s safe. Will the bad guys get an access to your coins in this case? Sorry if I explaining it horribly, confused in technicalities.

Recently found a project "Streamity" with their service streamdesk.io. Alpha-version, working great though. Too bad, only 2 payment systems allowed for now. If you`re good with paypal - try, you`ll like it. No fee till the end of the month.
