1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT TRUST TO TETHER on: July 08, 2020, 02:45:01 PM
Im not gonna say tether developers are scammer but tether could be fall very hard by Central bank mafia, Money Landing is a good Excuse for Central Bank to freeze tether money account.

Tether is a scam and the people involved are inflating the scam. It will eventually collapse and it will be jail time for many.

Tell me why SIA is not a shitcoin.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading an Expensive Coin vs a Cheap Coin on: April 19, 2020, 12:31:08 PM
Your question is valid and many beginners fell in the trap of buying coins because they were thinking they were "cheap".
In fact there is a catch here. It is the total supply of the tokens. Multiply this number with the current price and you will get a number that informs you of the current market cap of this token, which you can consider the current valuation of this coin (just as the valuation of a company).
Now try and make sense with these numbers. Is for example the coin ICON correctly valuated at 100m USD today? To answer that, you have to ask more questions as: Does it have a working product? How many people use it? Are the developers creating anything new? Has it solved the problem it claims to be solving after 3-4 years of activity? (ICON was an example here, I have no idea what it does to be honest).
It is hard to figure if a coin is expensive or cheap. Marketing is making this process harder as it inflates prices. I usually try to look into projects that use less promotion and try to figure out if they have any decent chance. Most of them have another 95% to lose from their current price.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Malthus Catastrophe - Thanos's Ideal - Bitcoin Supply and Increasing Demand on: April 16, 2020, 07:16:19 AM
Firstly, it's an undeniable fact that the population rate in the world is growing at unprecedented levels. I'm also of the opinion that the universe always looks for a way to keep everything balanced because if population is left unchecked, it can cause some serious issues in the long run.

The universe does not revolve around humanity. Humans are an insignificant part of time and space. Balance has to do with physics in cosmos, patterns and symmetries, and not with the population of our species on planet Earth. We are so vulnerable that we can be extinct in a few decades after a major catastrophe occurs.

Also Thomas Malthus was probably concerned about the certain era and not the distant future (our present). He was proven wrong, and his intentions are often criticized.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First Glance of China's Digital Currency on: April 15, 2020, 03:06:11 PM
CBDC's will be financial slavery. I'd prefer to live as a nomad and accept camels as medium of exchange than ever use them.

I've given my view of them a few months ago in this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5210116.msg53363115#msg53363115 .

We should not be happy about digitized national currencies but scared of them.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We are only rich on spreadsheets on: April 15, 2020, 02:09:01 PM
The bounty managers are getting rich out of your work.
Perhaps you will realize how you are being played all this time following bounties.
They are getting paid you don't.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty Detective Community Populer? on: April 15, 2020, 02:01:00 PM
Having participating in many of his airdrops through the channel "Airdrop detective", I have to say that it was one of the worst airdrop sources during 2018-2019. He featured various airdrops which weren't paid as:
-Coin Island,
-Pngme,
-Correto,
-300-Fit,
-Dispatch,
-CINDX,
-Trustfeedback,
-O2O,
-INNOU,
-AIGO,
-Nestree,
-Navcoin,
-Want Marketplaces,
-Tok App
and probably dozens more, still I've deleted his telegram channels (which were obviously full of bots having more than 300.000 members...).

I took part in all his sponsored Airdrops and only got one, which was not ever valued and not ever listed in an exchange.
Obviously wasn't going to participate in his bounties ever, as I stopped taking part in most airdrops/bounties because of the lack of seriousness by both projects and especially by the failure of doing due diligence from bounty hunters, which treat bounty members basically as slaves.

Taking part in a few bounties, under certain bounty managers, was a terrible experience and basically I would advise everyone to stop doing bounties as:
1) You will not earn anything
2) You will spent time promoting scams
3) You will be treated unfairly and improper
4) The bounty manager will get paid - You won't.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should bitcoin not perform now? on: April 15, 2020, 01:33:04 PM
So what is the world waiting for?

A job as most don't/won't have one.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do not fall for this Fake Coinbase Scam in Youtube right now on: April 07, 2020, 12:38:36 PM
It's already happening from september 2019.

I think I remember Ripple giveaways happening since 2017 in youtube. Although not at this frequency.
Lately many active youtubers had their accounts hacked, changed name and used for this scam. Probably it is lucrative for the scammers, although the wallets they provide might display many fake transactions made by them, to lure people thinking it is legit giveaways.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you know when to sell on: April 07, 2020, 12:32:02 PM
I am a college student looking to make a buck every once in a while trading crypto (mainly BTC). My portfolio is $500 of my savings so nothing big really. This is like a pilot project where I get to learn what is what and see if I can trade. I am considering going full time during summers and hopefully after finishing college if summers will have spared me. The question I am constantly facing is, how do you know when you should (or have to) sell? When the price is rising, I don't want to sell because... greed ––tbh. But again when the price is dropping, I don't wanna sell either... sometimes the price might be lower than when I bought. In general, I am bullish that the price will eventually rise and I will make a killing, so no need to hurry. But again, I don't want to be a hodler; I want to be a trader. How do you guys know when to sell?

Trading actually is quite different from what you have pictured in your brain. Day trading is 99% done with leveraged options. Judging by your post it is obvious you don't know that traders don't buy and sell, but they bet on the price going up or down. This is going long or going short.
Since you don't know what shorting is, you have a lot to learn. Try making a test account in some of the trading sites that allow this just to find out the options available.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is why I sold my 0.67 BTC!! on: April 06, 2020, 04:51:44 PM
If you were in dire need of cash, I guess you are excused.
Sure, I certainly wouldn't criticize someone for selling bitcoin to free up some cash if they really need it.  However, it seems like OP invested in bitcoin when he should have had a cash reserve for emergencies--this is exactly what sets up selling like this.  People buy bitcoin with money that they can't afford to lose and might need in a relatively short period of time.

I'm actually in a similar situation right now, but I'm only letting go of a small amount of btc and it's not because I absolutely need the money to live.  I'm trying to buy that damn e-bike, and I've pretty much given up on the hope that I'll find a bicycle retailer who'd accept bitcoin.  Anyway, good luck to OP.

You are probably lucky you didn't find that e-bike as you would have lost 20% profits.
Depending on the type of bicycle you've probably saved between $80-500

To the OP again:
The way I see it, you will rebuy 0.335BTC with the same amount of cash.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is why I sold my 0.67 BTC!! on: March 29, 2020, 11:39:43 AM
If you were in dire need of cash, I guess you are excused.
Personally I wouldn't advice anyone to cash out now though. I would especially advice not to panic and not to sell after a 40-50% dip. It is not different this time. The fundamentals have not changed and Bitcoin is still working exactly as it was supposed to.
Hopefully you will be able to recover financially soon and buy again without having missed out a lot.

Prayers might help raise morale, but mostly it is our actions that will help us overcome this obstacle.
Everyone must do their part to flatten the curve and allow our health system deal with this problem with ease.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin mining a problem of wasting energy? No on: March 12, 2020, 09:30:05 AM
Most of the mining is done through excess energy produced mostly by "green" energy sources. The carbon footprint of Bitcoin is probably a lot lower from what some services provide, as they use the average carbon footprint for the industrial sector. These results are not scientific correct.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Not An Organization on: March 06, 2020, 07:21:51 PM
NOT MY WORDS - These are the words from my Professor who just penalized me for writing that Bitcoin is an organization - its an industry; according to him it is NOT an organization but an industry or just a thing!

As a scholar studying for my MBA, I am in a huge fight with my Professor who will not change my grade based off his own inability to understand that Bitcoin is a DAO - a real organization, but not structured as as most because it is decentralized.

After proving it is a DAO, he still wants me to provide more direct evidence that Bitcoin is an organization taking actions; needless to say, I am confused and could use some expert opinions here.

Well just to be certain I've looked the wikipedia exact definition on DAO's.
"A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), sometimes labeled a decentralized autonomous corporation (DAC), is an organization represented by rules encoded as a computer program that is transparent, controlled by shareholders and not influenced by a central government. A DAO's financial transaction record and program rules are maintained on a blockchain. The precise legal status of this type of business organization is unclear."
It is clear that in this model there is control by shareholders, something that is not true for Bitcoin.

Don't get caught up on this word though. Organization can mean different things in other languages. In it's original language Greek it has a few meanings. Mainly it is a group of people that are joined to achieve a certain goal. It can also mean a movement following certain agenta, or as a verb, the act of doing something after having it thorougly planned before. So the word probably does not mean the same in all languages. Although an organization in business and economic terms, means that there is certain authority running it.

In Bitcoin the only authority is consensus. The code itself. It can be changed but it needs agreement between everyone involved, from miners to exchanges and developers, along with the whole community.

[EDIT] I feel confused now. Perhaps it is an wider organization containing everyone that can agree on changes in the code. I would certainly bookmark this topic as I'm undecided even after careful consideration.

By the way as stated by other members, Bitcoin is not an industry either. Cryptocurrencies as a whole can be considered an industry, so your teacher was definitely wrong there.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee backs out of his $1 million bitcoin prediction on: January 07, 2020, 09:20:59 PM
I'm feeling a lot better that this clown will stop promoting Bitcoin.

He wasn't doing any good and was basically profiting by promoting all the altcoins with his pump and dump tweets.. I remember in 2017 when everyone was waiting for the next coin he would pump and we were rushing in Bittrex and Binance to buy and dump at "take profit" price after one minute from his tweet.

Hillarious moments.

Alexander Vinik is involved in this exchange and this makes him leave. Where there is a lot of money, there is a lot of hype. What is the matter, there is a person, he himself received these funds and has the full right to dispose of them in further actions.

I don't understand what you want to say. You do know though that Alexander Vinnik was arrested in Greece in 2017 and will probably be extradited to France (and consequently to the US)? Also how exactly he has any right over stolen funds? What exactly is your point?

I gotta say I have to merit you just for the fact your Moniker made me laugh.

Cheesy Thanks a lot friend, I hope my writing skills are up to standard and hopefully I can contribute with useful content as well!
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The biggest crypto fraud of all time on: December 26, 2019, 07:24:31 PM
Besides Onecoin Bitconnect and Plustoken we didn't give much attention to CoinUp which was a ponzi claiming to be an exchange, that managed to defraud investors out of 384 million USD.

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STOP BUYING BITCOIN NOW!!! This coin is crap on: December 26, 2019, 06:59:59 PM
Bitcoin is a total worthless coin that is controlled by chinese miners that hate you.
racist

Bitcoin cant do anything that ethereum can do much better.
then why you need eth 2.0?

Bitcoin is worthless and only paid shills like tone vays or antonopulus are promoting this crap coin so you can lose your money on it.
Tone Vays is basically saying not to buy Bitcoin for the last 2 years and he is only talking about technical analysis that noone actually understands or cares about.
Andreas Antonopoulos is underpaid for the work he has done so far. He is talking mostly about the tech and the concept of decentralization. He is talking about what is wrong in today's failed economic system and how Bitcoin can be the force to create something better. It is clear to me that you haven't watched more than 5 minutes of him as you can't even type his name correctly. Try please to watch at least two videos from his youtube page. You won't waste any time and you will probably change your mind about him.

Proove me wrong before delete my thread- and what happened to free speech bitcointalk moderators?  are you paid to be chinese?
You will find out soon that admins in bitcointalk let anyone express their opinion, unless it is some low-effort shilling of a small capped crypto.
Proven wrong so far. Still The last point you make is valid.

Bitcoin isnt a coin anymore for the people but it became a chinese company

stop bitcoin now

We definitely need more decentralization and I agree that Bitmain along with their affiliate pools hold way too much percentage of mining activity. This will have implications in the future as countries that could affort cheap mining have either banned it or they still don't see the benefits in it.
I wouldn't mind much about it though. Bitmain has competition in their hardware production and it is not hard to compete with them and take a large percentage of their share. I think something like this will happen soon as there are plans for mining farms that will provide real decentralization of mining worldwide. There are plans rest assured.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why YouTube Bans Bitcoin &Crypto Videos? on: December 26, 2019, 06:06:50 PM
Most youtubers, basically all of them are paid shills and also abusing referals senting their audiences in scam exchanges and making them lose money.
I hope they get banned all of them as they promoted scams, shitcoins, shady schemes and got paid a lot for it.
They are not even entertaining and their live chat rooms are full of ridiculous paid shills talking about ridiculous coins they were so stupid and blind to invest in. Probably paid youtube services of bots or total retards that only irritate rational viewers.
Perhaps only Chris Dunn is an exception but he also made a paid video lately while in the past he said he didn't need to do any.
I hope they ban them as they were useless and diverting people into scams.
