Well it doesn't look good no information on rail capacities that I can find and I'd guess it's using older atx specs providing most of that power as 3.3 and 5 volt. Don't buy a psu that doesn't list the rail capacities it's a setup for an unpleasant surprise
Definitively, that's the point. It yields more than 400W (out of 600) as 3.3 and 5 volt. No more worry about CPU overheating. Now I have a new PSU, 700W (480W in 12V rails). I'll mount it quickly! Thanks to all for the tips!

Well... the Tooq PSU is 12V-v2.3 compliant. So, It should provide more than 20A per 12V rail. This is other Tooq-700W model, v2.2, guarantees 28A per 12V rail (2x), so up to 600W. I dind't see at all specifications of my actual Technimax.

Try running your rig without cover. If still shuts down on its own, its probably the power supply.
Well, I actually keep the cover out. So, PSU is a clearer candidate. But I'd want to fully discard the possibility of CPU overheating: the 5850 is a closed card, and I don't really know where the exhausted heat goes. If you have the psu model or a link to it it's quick to check if it's a potential problem, that and your CPU model.
PSU is Technimax 600W. The retailer offered to me this other one, Tooq, 700W. CPU is (not at my box now) AMD Sempron, I think; 2 cores, AM2 socket. A 3~4 years old one. Thanks for your help!

I've been mining without problems with my home box for some weeks. The main elements were a 5570 ATI card, and a 350W PSU.
Recently, I've upgraded the system to a 5850 card (Gigabyte), and a 600W PSU. Well, I can't mine for long time because the box suddenly gets out of power. I've also tried mining undercloked but I only extend for some minutes the crash.
I can imagine two causes: either the PSU is defective, and really can't afford the work (some more clues about this: sometimes, starting the box, the power vanishes in 2~3 seconds after sudden start up of all fans and disks; I pluged off the DVD R+W device in order to guarantee start up).
And other possibility: the warm exhausted form the 5850-card does not allow CPU get properly cooled and the BIOS switches off the power.
Somebody who experienced any of both can give me a tip?
TIA

As per the README: grab AMD's ADL, unzip and copy the header (*.h) files from the "include" directory to the "cgminer/ADL_SDK" directory. After that, configure should pick up card control support and it'll be available in the compiled binary. Any other link or torrent to download ADL_SDK? I hate write down forms for AMD. TIA You have the option to bypass the registration and go straight to the download. Ooopss! Thanks a lot!

I've just tried to log in, but it refuses. No message. Simply, It returns to not-logged homepage.
Is there any problem in the web?

Right angle sata cable?
WoW! Thanks! I've never imagined such a thing. But It exists (just googled about)...

I've bought a 5850 for my ATX motherboard.
But when I tried to mount it, I noticed that the bottom part kicks the SATA connectors. If I unplug the 2nd hard disk, then I can plug the card. Otherwise, it is impossible. I must choose: either the disk or the card.
Any idea???
TIA

That's a very annoying error message I've got rutinely.
It is due a change of versions and branches in bitcoin client and bitcoind.
It is related to a stupid incompatibility in different versions of same library (I don't know in this moment).
* Solution 1: delete all stuff related to databases (with "db" in name and/or extension) in your ~/.bitcoin directory and restart the client/daemon.
* Solution 2: delete all stuff except wallet.dat and bitcoin.conf in your ~/.bitcoin directory and restart the client/daemon. If you see your balance is down don't panic. You must wait some hours to reload the whole block chain.

Nice fork! I love the feature --importhex. But --info does not work. :-( I also like the clean way EC-mathematics are presented. Perhaps I'll use them for my own purposes.

Thanks jtimon % jackjack Exchange of fiat money is not solved through p2p-network, here p2p really stands for peer to peer
So the p2p-network handles only the bids and serves the personal contacts; pays are done out of the box. Do I understand? The key of my confusion is that I didn't know a word of services like "libertyreserve"...

Perhaps it's a dummy question, but I don't really see the question. 4. Linda sends the payment, (...) 6. Barry sends his payment to linda,
And... how Linda and Barry send fiat money through the Dark Exchange (at least, one of both sends fiat money)!!?? Do they need a central authority bank, a paypal account...? If exchange of fiat money through p2p-network is solved... why do we need bitcoin?

Well, my two cents
Until version 1.3.1, the program was not stable enough to give to it full responsabilty for hours without control. But version 1.3.1 still gives a lot of stales with the pool "eligius". Nevertheless, with "btcguild" tt yielded a record of < 1% stales!
Speed is slightly sub poclbm.
Versions 1.4.x were not deeply tested yet. However, stales with "eligius" still are too high.

Thanks for the link! I have no precise data about my equipment now (I don't remember about 7200 rpm or 5400 rpm...) but with approx. data it yields 249 W for actual card and 299 W for 5770. So it's ok, with no big margin. Anyway, when card is intensively used, the rest of hardware quiets a lot.

I'm about to buy a 5770 (consumption ~108 W), but don't want to purchase a new PSU. Mine actually gives 350 W and works fine with 5570 (~43 W) overcloacked and "overhashed" to ~80 MH/s. I want new 5770 to substitute old 5570; so they won't be rigged together.
But all sellers advice me to upgrade my PSU up to 600 W if I want no risk of burning out.
So the question stands: do I really need to upgrade PSU? Or is it an oversized advice?

Use the -rescan command line argument. Thanks Meni! I oversaw this option! And you do know that your backups need to be relatively recent, and that and old backup might not have any of your coins, right?
I know this even before wipe the file. I simply think that rescanning is done by default...
