1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 Discussion and Support Thread on: March 03, 2015, 08:13:16 PM
SWEET!!! Actually have had my S2 hashing overnight and whenever we do finally get this upgrade or upgrade kit rather I'll be getting one. I'm sure most with S2's will be getting the upgrade?

It was always going to be a physical upgrade.. between the newer chip and the new chain method it created a window where an upgrade made sense . On the down side if they are still working to squeeze efficiency out of the latest chip it makes me wonder when a new chip will hit the market… the reason I say that is if a newer chip was around the corner, this evolution to the S2 may not make sense .

I agree with what others said. When I had my cubes I replaced them with the same AMP auto fuses and never had an issue. On the down side, your cube is way passed EOL ... It's about two generations back .
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cold storage - HACKED easily on: January 20, 2015, 10:48:28 PM
Nothing but propaganda to entice people back to online wallets.. Foolishness , sure it's a posabity however even a greater possibility that your online wallet will go up in smoke. Aside from that, cold storage has nothing to do with any computerized storage. Cold storage is a paper wallet .

is the pool offline?

Think so … Both my miners on two machines went south .
5  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Remember when people said you could not ROI when bitcoin was at 400 - 500 ? on: January 15, 2015, 04:11:35 PM
Funny how they crushed the winter months for BTC … Fall and Winter was suppose to be the most profitable months for home miners… As it turns out, looks like the winter months will be where home miners take the biggest loss …

Funny how whoever is manipulating BTC played that hand ...
6  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: January 14, 2015, 07:29:01 PM
blocks mined cut in half here over the last week, BTC half the price they where a month ago, whats next ?

People will stop mining
BTC below $200 they will have to turn off there miners it will cost more to run them

its not about people turning off they miners …. Its about these data centers shutting down … they have not only electricity costs but facility costs … thats what needs to happen… END of story … the home miners need to hang in there and send these cloud mining operations to bankruptcy court .
7  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Remember when people said you could not ROI when bitcoin was at 400 - 500 ? on: January 13, 2015, 11:07:42 PM
I'm sorry I had to laugh…. remember when we all talked about alt coins being a pump and dump …

Don't look now but 2014 was the dump year for Bitcoin … and with Russia out of the game I suspect we will see little if any pump in 2015 ….

sorry guys ...
8  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Remember when people said you could not ROI when bitcoin was at 400 - 500 ? on: January 13, 2015, 10:48:43 PM
How do you feel about ROI now and for future hardware purchases when BTC is sub 150 ?

Anyone starting to see the light yet >

coupons force customers to re buy in order to recoup any potential .. not positive that is the best way to incentives loyal customers.

downloads as tftp.tar… different from what I expected.. not positive if there is a new process involved to install this firmware .

Just tested it. It downloads ok as SD-S5-20150107.tar.gz

Edit: https://bitmaintech.com/files/download/SD-S5-20150107.tar.gz

Works now thanks, the update didn't fix my issue ..

interesting development… after the update and a short time of running the unit is now hashing correctly … don't know how the firmware brought it back to life but for now its breathing ...

I don't have a S5 but just thought to let you guys know Bitmain released a new firmware for the S5

https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720150101032800325X8cMcY2y068F

Not sure if they have already mentioned it earlier.

Who got S5 coupons? Which customers do they issue those to?

Are you sure there is such a thing? I saw they dropped the price on the s5, but I haven't seen any coupons.

Their are coupons I already gave two of mine away... Coupons for something a person has already bought is not a good compensations for price drops IMO .

Then for the bad news Sad ... One of my two S5s showed up with a dead blade , and thus the back and forth with tech support begins.. I have tried both a Corsair RM 850 and also tried a RM 1000 .. In BOTH cases blade one shows all x's after about two or three min of up time.. The whole chain for blade one goes dead.. The blade has power and the red light in the card is lit.. Looks like it may be just a bad blade.. The second blade hashes great but that gives the unit a total of about 550 GHs .. I'm running 100% stock no over clocking or anything ..

with new firmware improves the stability of mining?

doubt there will be any new firmware on a unit this far out of the production cycle … "unless they come out with a upgrade" Please run the last firmware they have on their site … It has issues but its your best bet ..

Are there any s-5 coupons? I saw something about s-5 coupons can't find it now.

Yes their are S5 coupons for customers who bought early … Bitmain trying to draw in repeat customers after being burned by bitmain lowering the price . Bitmain needs to come up with a different way to reward past customers because the coupons are becoming more of an insult if anything .

are you kidding? $30 coupon is an insult? This is not a S3/S2 coupon rain, they only give numbers equal to batch 1-3 that you ordered at much higher price.

Why would I order more units ? the cycle ends when you no longer repeat business .

home miners don't have enough coin stacked to take 2 or 3 bites at the same product cycle … I order once in a product cycle and thats about it ...

I used a few coupons on the s-3's .

I gave a quite few away.

I sold a couple  of s-3 coupons very cheaply.

I would not mind someone tossing 2x  s-5 coupons at my bitmaintech   account .

my name there  is philipma1957

sent you mine… good luck…. I'm not falling for the coupon game any longer .

18  Economy / Economics / Re: The reason that crude oil price crashed on: January 05, 2015, 04:19:34 AM
The reason oil prices have come down is because OPEC has cut prices arbitrarily. They were artificially high to begin with. On average it costs an OPEC nation ~$30 to produce a barrel of crude. They're still making a shitload of profit.

Yes OPEC makes profit. But many countries depend on that profit. They organize education, .... with that money.

Reason why oil price come down is not opec is companies in USA using that new technology to get oil. But that is expensive method and at some point those companies will close. Opec is smart and will not try to maintain price artificially high. Lets teh market do and take off those that produce with to big costs.

Those companies took loans in banks. And when they will bankrupt and will not be able to pay off debts. Guess who will pay this?

OPEC = legalized price fixing...

Someone got tired of hearing Sean Hanity sell all the wonderful jobs in North Dakota .. It's not profitable to keep that job market a'float .. Funny how they can turn that off and on whenever they want..

The manipulation is so thick I don't even pay attention to oil any more.

Thought my pair of S5's would ship on 08 Jan. but got notice they shipped yesterday (via BitMain on Amazon).
Are those B3 ones direct from Bitmain? if so that's weird they would ship before B2.
The Amazon sale was linked to B2, which was scheduled to ship on Jan 4th if I recall. Amazon used different dates such a early February as the latest delivery date but they now have tracking information indicating that the shipping label has been made but they have not left the factory yet. UPS indicates a delivery of Jan 7th for the US west coast.

Thats totally messed up that they would ship batch 3 before batch two … from what I understand my batch 2 should ship on the 4th and my order status says unshipped … Who would have thunk that batch three would ship before batch two ...

bitmain, if your going to remove the listings of batch 1 through batch whatever, can you please find a way to leave the ship date for each batch . I ordered batch two and went back to the page to reference the batch two ship date and its gone … I'm fine with removing it if the ship date has passed but by removing the ship date prior to the actual ship date makes it look as if you are trying to make the ship date a moving target based on your needs as opposed to customer needs .
