1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Princess Cash (HRH) on: June 08, 2018, 10:39:56 AM
I'm sorry, don't want to sound rude, but what is this project all about and why is there a need for it?
In my opinion, the way I understood it, this is kind of sexist and pandering to women. Why is there a need for such a project, do little princes get one of their own? I think I'm missing the point here.

Fingers crossed that maybe I can get in on the 4th wave of airdrops.

There is no reason why you can not sign up for the 4th Airdrop, just register in time.

From what I understood you have to wait for that link to be posted and only then participate. So I hope I won't be late again like with the previous ones. Tongue

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ARAGON: The Ethereum based Startup from Spain on: May 12, 2017, 07:35:26 PM
So it is basically not a coin or currency but a startup that helps other cryptocurrency startups to run smoothly ?

I would get behind that. I definitely need something like this with my business, so far I have been having a lot of trouble getting people to understand what I have been doing and paying taxes, I would pay a Premium amount just to get rid of all the financial and accounting stuff I have been doing.

Is this just for Spanish startups or all around the world ?

All over the world. From my understanding, any business could run on their network and in return for using their platform they would pay a fee. It's a neat idea, but I'm still unsure about the hidden cap for the ico, and how it wouldn't just devalue the coin when it hits exchanges.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread - Open Alpha Has Launched[Updates & Discussion] on: July 02, 2014, 03:17:06 PM
something off topic.

i just received a postcard from japan about mtgox ha

http://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2263.0

I didnt see anything. Can you post it here?
 Huh

That's very funny.

I was so close to putting money in Gox at the end to buy on the cheap, but didn't.

I learnt a valuable lesson. The crypto virtual world really is Wild West.

I'm very happy to see NEM make an alpha and be the real deal.

It's this lawlessness that makes it the lucrative market it is. Remember that.

Back on subject though; I've already thrown this idea out, but i want to again because I don't think anyone paid it any mind:

Are there any plans to put into the NEM wallet, a means of setting up regular payment arrangements? Similar to some features most of us get with our own FIAT banking system (Direct debits,  Automated Clearing House, etc)

I have yet to see this feature in any wallet before, and i think it's absolutely crucial in order to make a crypto a regular, convenient form of payment. It's beyond me why developers focus on messaging in wallets when it's a service people won't pay for when alternatives outside the blockchain suffice, and are free (Email, Instant Messaging, etc). I'd say lets focus on making it a competitive currency with features that mimic, rival, and exceed the systems we have today.

This is actually a good idea, as long as it can be implemented with minimal risks.. I'm not entirely sure how it would operate, but all my monthly payments are dealt with in this manner through one bank account and I have to say I'd even be inclined to pay slightly more than switch back to the old methods.

And, I know I haven't said that much until now, but I'd just like to congratulate the dev team and everyone involved with the project so far. Smiley

The problem with africa and mobile apps is, that most cellphones there are not capable of running apps. While it would be nice to "capture" the cellphone payment marketshare, it won't work, until africa upgrades its hardware!
I think we should invent cheap smartphones and then spread them there

Haha that would be awesome. NXT/NEM sending africa to the 21th century!

"A sub-$50 no-contract smartphones are already a reality today. The MTN Steppa. It’s a pretty bad phone: Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, 2MP camera, single-core processor, 480×320 HVGA screen. But it’s a genuine smartphone nonetheless, with a 3G antenna, Google Maps, Gmail, Facebook, Opera, and YouTube. And it retails for less than fifty dollars (no contract.) "
www.techcrunch.com/2014/02/08/in-3-5-years-most-africans-will-have-smartphones

In Kenya, cell phone usage increased by 4,000,000 users last year. Kenyans use cell phones for everything from buying groceries to paying rent. Kenyans pay $20 for cell phones with banking, streaming, and communication capabilities. kenyasocialventures.com

A simple app that can just send and receive NEM would be a great starting point. We can team up with a few entrepreneurs or business students at a local university and donate a few $50 smartphones. I am sure they will find NEM useful for one of there projects.

+1. Totally agree. The faster we establish NEM as a currency and not a commodity, the better. Need to differentiate ourselves from all the other faceless coins.

I'm in on this idea too. +1

Client have to be easily accessible, meaning that general people could adopt and use it. Notebooks and desktop computers aint nowadays even used in every household, i know many folks who just mainly use their tablets and smartphones. I dont know about rest of the world, but in Finland banks have very sophisticated clients/internetbanks and with all the NFC and other mobile payments systems, competition is fierce.
Certainly NEM have to be better than those systems of we want to create complete currency system/finance platform.
We definitely shouldn't forget about smartphone users here. It's a vast and growing market.

+1000

I think a smart device wallet should be THE focus of NEM.  Apps are the way all computers are moving.  The main stream app stores started with IOS and then Android, but even now the big players are in it.  Windows now has a app store, Mac has an App store, even Ubuntu has an app store!  And for smart devices, app stores are basically the only choice, and yes, it of course needs to be one click.  Whatever the interface, the guy from Finland makes great points.  I'll be fair, I spend a lot of time on my desktop, but people like me (and probably you are dinosaurs in a way).  I am a professor in another high tech country, and basically all of my students use their cell phones as their primary computing device.  There is no going back to the desktop after this.  The focus of the NEM client should 100% be mobile.  We need to launch with a great android app, and hopefully an IOS one too.  If not an IOS app, than a portal that can be accessed via IOS.  Yes, I know this is asking a lot.  It is also the way towards success.

Personally I can't see anyone who only uses phone as their only device to be high tech people. I could see how a country like that could be a high tech country, where the casual users all have cell phones, because it's something that the culture can afford, but I wouldn't consider someone who just uses their phone and mainly checks face book, texts, and plays simple casual games to be high tech.

Totally agree with j23a on this one. More so, i assume people expect less hacking to happen on mobile devices, but that's a lot easier to be done than on the pc (of a high tech person). I'm with jabo38 on the mobility factor, but until these smart devices get a lot more secure they won't have my trust in them in terms of banking.
